  1. Due to the weather vane effect the helicopter should need little if any pedal input to keep it balanced during forward flight, including banking. In a single rotor helicopter with anti-torque (tail rotor) however you will need pedal input until the weather vane effect overcomes the need for it. Not so for tandom rotors. Chances are, many of you are in fact fighting the AP. Hit A-LAlt and see how much sweeter she flies :joystick: In theory you shouldn't pull back on the cyclic during a level banked turn - you should maintain height and speed with collective. IRL, the fact is that is you will more often than not use cyclic, collective and pedals to acheive your turns, depending on the situation and what you are trying to acheive. Pedal turns are the order of the day for tight combat manouvering :pilotfly: Try to think of the helo as a flying disc and the fuselage as being dragged along for the ride and don't be restricted by too much theory :smartass: Jack. 2. Mine did that too so I just deleted the lua files in the C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\Input\Aircrafts\ka-50\joystick directory and restarted the game
  3. I love NOE - to me that's what helicopters are made for - below the radar and out of sight. Unfortunately (as became only too evident when watching the track) when launched from treetop level, missiles will strike the ground just short of their intended target more often than not, wasting a lot of ordinance. Going up high defeats the purpose and leaves you a sitting duck. If there is high ground nearby you can make good use of that, but if the terrain is flat as in this mission you have no option other than to go higher. Bring on the Apache with LOBL :pilotfly:
  4. I don't know about the G25 with its 3rd clutch axis, but with my Driving Force Pro (and most other wheel/pedal combos I know of) you can use the pedals in BS simply by setting them to Single Axis under the Settings menu in Game Controllers. With my setup you then use Joy Slider1 in BS for pedals.
  5. Yes you make an important observation there Eltra - even though we had to wait longer for this than we wanted to, the reward is a very stable application.
  6. Very nice work Mbot. You implemented the feeling of the player being just a part of the bigger picture very well and it added to the feeling of immersion greatly. I will enjoy playing this more times. Great job
  7. I had a lot of trouble with my left engine dying on this mission also. Manual states that take-off rpm is 98% and max. continuous is 93%. That 5% makes all the difference but is only a tiny visual difference on the tachometer. Also the EGT (exhaust gas temp) is a really good indicator of what's happening with your engines. If you notice it climbing or too high, you may have engine icing or are working them too hard. Jack :pilotfly:
  8. When I was flying tourists in a Kawasaki KH4 we often had to pump fuel out if we had 3 heavy pax and high ambient temp, otherwise she wouldn't even hover IGE :pilotfly:
  9. Is this playable in SP? If so I might give it a whirl :joystick:
  10. Sorry, we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I like the feel of flying the machine myself not letting a computer make decisions for me. With AP off it flies like I have come to expect it to fly from my own flying experience (I hasten to add that I have not flown this particular helicopter or any other tandem rotor). You may see it as "all wrong" because you have come to have expectations of the AP system. Like I said, we will have to agree to disagree on this one
  11. This is the reason I hit LAlt-A as soon as I hit the seat. The autopilot functions are great when you are targeting with the Shkval etc., but for normal flight, take-off and landing, etc., I find it better without the autopilot inputs. It might not equate to the real world, but I figure that without physical feed back through the controls it doesn't equate any way. Autopilot off feels more realistic to me and actually makes it easier to fly in many respects. Learning to fly without them will hone your control skills and as a bonus balanced turns are a doddle compared to fighting the autopilot. IMHO, Jack :pilotfly:
  12. Hey tn_prvteye, try hitting LAlt-A. It flies soooo much nicer  With something as good as this people might finally understand just how bad the helos in MS flight sims are :joystick:
  13. I was fascinated by helos and their flight physics as a kid and then ended up doing my Commercial Helicopter Licence. Only did a few hundred hours and now haven't flown for many moons, except virtually of course. I started with 'Apache' (IIRC the itlte correctly) - a brilliant DOS sim from about 1996 - have owned every half decent helo game/sim since. BlackShark is the first one to come really to close to perfect realism - X-plane is good but I think this is superior IMHO :-)
