Hi petsild, Loading the texture using description.LUA in a folder: Mods\aircraft\SpitfireLFMkIX\Liveries\Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX\default and placing your texture mod there. This method is still working so far. And your mod does work again with the new update. Indeed the cockpit-Livery method is working right now. I can change some of the cockpit textures so far using the description.lua as expected. -- rename it to description.lua livery = { {"pilot_RAF_FP_Notepad",0,"mfd3",true}; {"mirror_SpitfireIX", 0 ,"mirrors",true}; --mirrors texture replacement with runtime rendered one --[[ uncomment lines for customized dds/tga/bmp files --]] {"SpitfireIX-CPT-pribors", 0, "spitfireix-cpt_dif", false}; {"SpitfireIX_GLASS", 0, "spitfireix_cpt_glass_diff", false}; {"SpitfireIX_GLASS", 14, "spitfireix_cpt_glass_diff_filtr", false}; {"SpitfireIX_1", 0, "spitfireix_1_dif", false}; {"SpitfireIX_2", 0, "spitfireix_2_dif", false}; {"SpitfireIX_3", 0, "spitfireix_3_dif", false}; {"SpitfireIX_4", 0, "spitfireix_4_dif", false}; {"SpitfireIX_5", 0, "spitfireix_5_dif", false}; {"SpitfireIX_6", 0, "spitfireix_6_dif", false}; {"Material #3108", 0, "pilot_raf_fp", false}; } ----== below part is not required for cockpit livery ==---- --[[ name your own skin in default language (en) meanwhile, you can also name the skin in more than one languages, replace xx by [ru, cn, cs, de, es, fr, or it] ]] name = "" --name_xx = "" --[[ assign the countries if you want no country limitation, then comment out below line]] countries = {""} The "funny" thing is that I can replace all the textures I have tried by now, but not spitfireix_cpt_glass_diff_filtr.dds... What it makes me think that maybe they have changed the material for this or that they have created a different material for the cockpit Armored glass, what could be true (just guessing here) as many users had been asking to change the tint level of the glass in any upcoming Spitfire official release update. Until here is what I have found out. Hope ED goes back to the simple "texture replacement method" that was working before (putting textures inside a folder with the zip name in the same folder). This method helps to mix different mod with no headaches. Also It will be very convenient that in the menu special, they create a Cockpit selector for the Spitfire as we have for P-51 and many other modules. Thank very much you for uploading the description.lua from old cockpit version, it has been very handy! Hope that uboats can find the way to make his tool work with the new edm files.

Hi 3ra_Luke, Thanks for all your feed back, help and kind words! happy that you are enjoying my little mods so far. I have seen already what Mustang did with terrain mod and the stuff you propose to generate the full zip file as a mod. Indeed this method: Recreating the Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX_Textures.zip does work fine. Although, this mod is just 2 megas, so I do not think reasonable to make people download 120 mega just for that. Reticle does still work so I think I can go with that until this gets sort out someway. Gracias por la ayuda y el feedback !

Hi, I am trying to extract the info from the same emd file: Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX.EDM Basically: Mods stored in the folder: Mods\aircraft\SpitfireLFMkIX\Cockpit\Textures\Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX_Textures Seen not to work anymore?:( ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using description.LUA in folder: Mods\aircraft\SpitfireLFMkIX\Liveries\Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX\default and placing texture mod there still works so far. Need this wonderful tool to get the material+texture name for correct description.LUA editing and texture replacements for Spitfire Cockpit WIP Mod. Thank you very much for the work so far uboats. I agree that it should be convenient that we could access this info in, for example, ModelViewer.exe? Best

Hi petsild, I have checked your "Airspeed Needle Mod", nice idea! Would like to try this, and other things for most of the gauges. I see you are loading the texture using description LUA in a folder: Mods\aircraft\SpitfireLFMkIX\Liveries\Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX\default and placing your texture mod there. This method is still working so far. Could you please tell me the way to find the right name of the cockpit materials so I can replace other textures like : SpitfireIX_CPT_GLASS_DIFF.dds or SpitfireIX_CPT_GLASS_DIFF_FILTR.dds The Glass tint Modification stopped to work since last DCS update, also some mods like Skullz's Cockpit Mod. Mods stored in the folder: Mods\aircraft\SpitfireLFMkIX\Cockpit\Textures\Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX_Textures Seen not to work anymore? I have been trying to use EDM Livery Extractor GUI.exe from uboats. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=159784 But seems not to work for me with this specific file ( Cockpit_Spitfire_LFMkIX.EDM ) :helpsmilie: Thanks

Finally with some color variation; orange with a bit of green in some parts. Added some "dust" dots and sharpened/focus a bit the reticle. Hope you like the "final" result. For me, I am done , although I am open to suggestions. Thank you
-
I was trying to find some balance between the references I found in the internet and the original DCS reticle. Here my references: I would like to make the reticle a bit more orange but I do not find where to tweak the color. Still, I am quite happy with the result so far, I really like flying the Spitfire and I have been always quite "disappointed" with the vanilla reticle, which has driven me to do some small modification. I will keep working on it, I think, maybe a bit of dust? But I wonder if it could be visible having a slightly "out of focus" sight. Anyway, thank you very much for your comments petsild, and glad you like it!

A basic, UNOFFICIAL - Blender .edm Addon
Grajo replied to NickD's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Welcome back then NickD, Thanks for the development of the Blender Plugin, even if I did not manage to make the exporter work yet. Would be great if you could continue on its development (asking is for free...). Thanks for your work so far, looking forward to any updates !!! Best -
Small Mod with a reworked MK-II reticle. Double resolution image. Updated after 312_JS suggestion (vertical line circle cut). Removed the Glass tint feature. Even if now can be easily replaced again (thanks ED for giving us this feature back) :]. The glass tint we have right now by default is "good enough" and this way the mod is Multiplayer - Integrity Check Passed!:smilewink: Multiplayer friendly - Integrity Check Passed. OvGME / JSGME compatible. DOWNLOAD Here (updated to v04): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301720/

Thanks, Art-J. This was really helpful

Please Devs !!! Unscrew that mirror so we can fly without it if "mirros off" like in the Mi-8. Lots of people do not use it because of the frame rate impact. It is a big ugly useless thing to see on top of the cockpit when it is turned off. After those nice bombs, this is one of the few things that is a must for this great module. Thanks

Great addition! Thanks for the mod Holton181. Best

A basic, UNOFFICIAL - Blender .edm Addon
Grajo replied to NickD's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Hey, that is really kind of you, to share all this knowledge! Indeed I have pretty much the same approach, between curiosity and a strong will of achieving an "uncertain/possible" objective. Great that you figure out how to fix the rotation, and make all the animation to work out. I was wondering if the exporting was crashing for a certain reason, now I see that you have the true determination to troubleshoot it. All the steps need to be completed to get the export right. I probably was missing some step in the way and I just assumed that the exporter was just not functional with latest Blender version, so I try many of them with the same result... finally I quit and ask for help in the forum, which never arrived until now :D. I will try this out again, this time, following your tips. It might take me more time than necessary due to my lack of time and poor skills but I will achieve it (hopefully :]), Thanks a lot again for the boost DoctorStrop !!! Keep us updated on your progress, please. Best and keep the good work! -
A basic, UNOFFICIAL - Blender .edm Addon
Grajo replied to NickD's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Hi, That is some great progress DoctorStrop. Thanks for sharing your research here. Sadly, I can not help you with your animation axis issues. Still did not manage to export properly from blender any static objects. I am probably doing something wrong. The "wiki" you are pointing to, has been my starting point, but I find it too schematic for my skills. I will really appreciate that, in the future, you could take the time to do some kind of an step by step guide of the most simple static object export and integration into a DCS mission editor, for example ;] (here it goes nothing...). That is a lot to ask, I know hehehe. In any case, really impressed by your progress so far, understanding the deep lack of documentation in the subject. I am actually trying to get DCS model inside blender (import) and export it to Substance or 3D-Coat, to create some new liveries when PBR support is updated for all the modules (I hope this happens some day). Being pretty successful with this so far. Same thing as you here, I will try to make some tutorial in the moment I achieve my goal. (even if doing this is indeed quite straight forward) Main problem here is rearranging some rotated elements after importing files in blender. I noticed, animated front wheels of the cars, appear rotated like in your videos when imported to blender, but you probably know this already Keep the hard work, and good luck with your mod. Blender addon improvement or proper workflow is the key for many good artist to start working on DCS. Best -
Sure, me too. It will be really odd to fly the Mi-8 side by side with the incoming Mi-24 ( that, for logic, will come with PBR), If Mi-8 does not get the "upgrade" Mi-8 & Mi-24 tandem is gonna be a blast for multiplayer coop missions.:devil_2:

Hi, Are the Mi-8 exterior and cockpit models going to be republished with PBR materials? The Mi-8MTV2 "Magnificent Eight" could look even more Magnificent in full PBR shading glory for DCS 2.5. I am working in some helicopter liveries for the "new" amazing Caucasus and Nevada maps, and I would love to know if there are any plans for Belsimtek's great helicopter modules PBR support in the future. Thanks

Hi, Congrats for the amazing model so far. I looking for some help here. I have read all the post already and there is no more news for the development of the edm plugin for Blender. You have created your own fully working mod of the original code, but you are not able to share because you need original author permission? Is this right? ------------------------------------------------------------------ Plugin so far, by Nicholas Devenish alias ndevenish https://github.com/ndevenish/Blender_ioEDM Documentation so far https://ndevenish.github.io/Blender_ioEDM/ Forum original post https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178430 ------------------------------------------------------------------- I did not manage to get properly running the actual emd for blender so far. Importing: Everything that comes with animation has wrong axis, models with bake animation wont work (not big deal for me). Simple props come well and have the UVs (this is good). Exporting: I have try many Blender versions and read the documentation several times, but does not seem to work for the exporting. Indeed, my aspirations are not very high, just would like to create some static prob by now. There are some missing options in my blender, I never see the lods option menu right as its shown in the documentation. This might be one of the reasons... Any help, tutorial, tips,... anything? Pleaseee!!!! Thanks a million!

Hi, I have been trying to make a single unit embark into Mi-8 or Huey and after disembark in another point of the map, wishing that it goes close to some units in the landing area after disembarking. Something similar to what happens in this video from "pickinthatbanjo". 1 : Advance (Waypoint Actions) Perform Task - Disembark from transport / Does not exist anymore. 2: Unit does not embark with Advance (Waypoint Actions) Perform Task - Embark Transport 3: Unit will only Embark-Disembark with the direct order in Radio menu. 4. When unit is disembarked by Radio Menu, it goes back to its first initial position (even if it has no waypoints.) What is really disturbing. Imagine a mechanic deployed to fix a broken truck, pops out from the helo and starts running back to base (which is 40 kilometers away) instead of approaching the truck that he was supposed to fix. I have checked options like CTLD, but is not what I am looking for. I would like that it would simplify work like in the example video (or in a very similar way). Activating hidden units is not an option, as they appear where they are setup in the mission, and not in the exact place where you land (what is really "ugly" stuff). I imagine that "Disembark from Transport" option has been removed, maybe in the past for some reason, so following the video tutorial is not possible anymore. But not being able to manage unit waypoints after disembarking is a "Show Stopper" Any workaround for: Embark Unit > Disembark Unit (no fake "active-unhide unit") > Unit goes to the desired waypoint after Disembark. :helpsmilie: Thanks!

Spring Tensio 2.5 not working
Grajo replied to Charmin2105's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Hi, Same problem here, waiting for the Caucasus in 2.5 to start the Spring Tension Campaign, but I can not make it through the first mission. Apart from not getting permission to land, I can add, that land in Tskhinvali will not trigger anything, but if I wreck the helo during landing, then yes... documents will be delivered and "we are good to continue", sadly the helo is not in a condition to take of anymore. I hope this campaign gets fix soon :helpsmilie:, I heard very good things about it. [/url] Thanks -

Mi-8 Bullet Tracers too thick in 2.5?
Grajo replied to Grajo's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
In this video they look quite similar :] (but I think this is a 30 mm). It might be right then? Starting to get use to them. :P -
I would love to have that Bomb Sight at some point :)

Bombs: Delayed fuse modeling planned?

Yea. I hope this is added at some point. With a new bomb sight addition too :music_whistling:.
