  1. I recently switched from using the twist on my Saitek X52 PRO to rudder pedals. The biggest problem I had was that I got quite good with the twist and still find myself twisting the stick a bit even after 4 or 5hrs of flight time! However.. immersion has increased as Maverick suggests and the rudders are more precise. I can also do more actions although I'm currently lacking the coordination to do them properly! FOR PEDALS: Immersion/realism Improved strafing ability More precise AGAINST: Harder to very quickly "flick" direction (This will probably improve but obviously there is a lot more travel in the rudder pedals) Learning curve, especially if you are used to the stick twist. I should point out that I am MUCH better now than I was in the first hour of flying with the pedals. I was hopeless, my legs had no idea what to do.. in fact they ignored me. There is still a lag between brain output and my legs responding.. a very odd sensation! Overall I would recommend them but you probably won't like them at first!

  3. I can't make any changes to the placement of textures. This is apparently just not possible at the moment. However I don't know how the Nellis field guys are doing their work. Maybe they know how.
  4. The idea was to give the appearance of staggered joints as in the mod. Clearly graphic art is not your bag. I would suggest you stay well clear of graphical work in your chosen career. :megalol:
  5. @jg3_dragon I would tend to agree with Cosmo's comments. Nearly everyone starts off with similar work to yours using stock methods (raw plugins basically). The fact that you are trying to make something for yourself and others is more important than anything else and I appreciate your comments in the first post :) May I recommend this site: http://psdtuts.com/category/tutorials/. My path using this tool is here: C:\Games\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50 Did you install just to an Eagle Dynamics folder or did you install to a KA-50 folder? Assuming KA-50 folder .. Check your registry entry here: computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Eagle Dynamics\BlackShark If you look at the path key in there.. is it correct?

  9. A rar file is basically like a zip file. Use a program called "Winrar" to extract the file inside it.
  10. I couldn't find a way to change textures by runway neither could I find a way to adjust texture placements or add in extra textures. I asked Necroscope (who is more experienced) and he said that the information is held in files which currently can't really be edited.. Or at last that's the impression I got.
  11. :megalol: Yes, whilst I'm reasonably happy with the texture set I will probably do an alternate version where the concrete colour is a lighter/yellower/ivory tone. It will take me some time and I don't have the time to properly do it at the moment. If only we could have different textures/colours for each Airbase!
  12. TAXI ROAD OPTIONAL ADDON/REPLACEMENT flanker1 in my old thread asked if I could put a soft edge on the taxi roads. I've looked at this and have made an optional addon which does this (to a degree). HOWEVER there are a couple of issues: Because I use transparency, I'm "cheating" and therefore I can't make the addon MODMAN installable. BUT! you CAN use it with the MODMAN version of my mod (if that makes sense!) So. basically you can use MODMAN to install the original Airbase Set and then manually put the file included in the optional addon manually into the "TempTextures" folder. The problem with this optional addon is that it looks good in most areas but not where a taxi road meets a perpendicular taxi road.   13. The one thing I would personally recommend is that you try mapping the first stage trigger to uncage the cannon, the second to fire the cannon. If you choose recage the gun to trigger stage 1 release you get a very nice way of automatically firing whenever you want in a fluid motion. You will need to set delays to 0.001ms otherwise it works a bit intermittently.
  14. OH you are so dead! DTWD!!! :megalol::megalol::megalol: No I'm not currently working on any asphalt! I did think about it in the early stages and, as it happens, VikVaughn did a quick test of it somewhere in my original thread. I WOULD do it if we could have texture variations per runway but we can't. When I was doing research I could only find one SAT photo of a Russian runway which appeared to have some Asphalt. I guess if everyone wanted it I might have a go at some point.. However most people seem to want things to be as close to real as possible. The only thing I'm considering at the moment is lightening up the concrete a little and releasing that as an alternate version. Dragon
  15. It's hard to say why they've done this.. basically the file WPP_DARK.TGA is the DCS version of the file. The texture is stretched in a very similar way but is only used for an overlay. What you need to do (although it probably won't look very good) is load WPP.BMP into photoshop or similar, transform it vertically to the same size as the WPP_DARK.BMP and save it as WPP_DARK.BMP. Without having a good look myself I can't say for certain what's happenning.. I think in DCS they realised it was screwed and replaced the texture with a correctly sized texture. EDIT: This is the type of issue I've had here and there. I suspect that the "10" normally sits there but my WPP-KRAY.bmp lining is just too long for Lockon.
  16. AHHHH OK.. Well WPP_DARK.TGA overlays the runway. I use it to put the runway landing zone texture and skid marks on. Try copying the file WPP.BMP and renaming the copy to WPP_DARK.BMP and see what happens.. It *might* work.
  17. Well it looks like either DCS-BS has one less runway piece the Lockon OR that a file is named differently. All I can suggest is browse the cdds files looking for WPP.. something and see if one of them is named differently in some way or has a different filetype? Dragon

  20. Working on the Modman package currently. FINALLY figured out how to add the extra lines into the correct place in the graphics.cfg file using Modman and have checked Modman installs and uninstalls correctly. Now starting on the cover piccie and the readme. The Modman package will use a bit more video memory than the non-modman version. This is because I can't package the renamed DDS files into a CDDS package. The CDDS packer knows I'm cheating! :mad:
  21. Yes the beta was unstable for me as well. Kept having to re-install the damned drivers. Reverted back and all ok again.
