  1. Tonight when I started up DCS I got a message saying DCS wanted to access wifi (and something else) and allowing it to do so would enable DCS to determine my exact location, so I declined. Now I can't log in because I keep getting an error message saying my login information is incorrect. I can log into the website and my username/password for the game is saved so I don't have to reenter it every time I want to play. I've been getting that same message for various Steam games as well and I've declined all of those but I can still log into those games. Suggestions on how to fix this? I am currently doing a slow file verification but I suspect that isn't the issue anyway.
  2. You first!!
  3. It looked like the anti-skid switch was in the off position but it wasn't, I'll have to be more careful in the future. I spent hours (seriously) trying to figure this out last night.
  4. In the Cold Start .trk you'll see a Hawk battery firing at and killing a MiG. I put the HAWK battery in to deal with the MiG because it kept shooting me on the runway. I know I could have just deleted the MiG in the mission editor but I figured this was more fun.
  5. Is there a good video on this somewhere? When I spawn on the runway for takeoff I can't get the wing sweep to work correctly. When I close the cover, hit the reset button and then hit "auto" the wings sweep forward to the 20 degree position with the DLC flaps UP and I cannot figure out how to get them to go down. (Hitting the button to engage/disengage DLC does nothing.) No matter how many times I mash the DLC button to engage all I can move are the maneuvering flaps. So I tried a cold start on the ramp. I start and taxi to just before the runway and pull up short. I push the emergency sweep lever forward, close the cover and hit reset then "auto" and the wings won't sweep forward even though the indicator says auto. I've tried to drop the lever in the 68 degree position but it will not go down anywhere near those detents. Uploading a .trk file of the hot start on the runway. Also uploaded one with a cold start. This time when I get to the hold point the wings sweep forward before I go to auto and then nothing else works except the maneuvering flaps again. DLC_F-14.trk Cold_Start_DLC_F-14.trk
  6. That's the same as the catapult salute command?
  7. Hit the "Print" or "Prt Sc" (Print Screen) key on your keyboard and then check your saved games/DCS/Screenshot folder. My full path is C:\Users\(name)\saved games\DCS.openbeta\screenshots. Yours might vary a bit but it should be similar.
  8. I use TrackIR and I forgot to put my throttles back to idle. I had my flaps/slats mapped to the commands that move them in three steps. That wasn't working very well so I remapped so I only need to hit a button once for out/in so this shouldn't be an issue again. Thanks for your replies.
  9. I figured it out. I was setting the HSI course upside down, meaning the arrow on the indicator was at the bottom instead of at the top of the HSI. I was also so intent on watching the movement on the HSI that I didn't notice the numbers changing right next to the adjustment knob. What a n00b.
  10. Somethiing that has helped me learn acronyms in the past is to say the name ie... Suspension Untility Unit-23 also known as a SUU-23. Triple Ejector Rack or TER, etc etc. It allows someone new to create the association between the name and the acronym in their brains. And once you learn them not only is it easier/quicker to talk about certain features, you almost never forget. I was in the Air Force nearly 40 years ago and I have yet to forget the acronyms.
  11. I had that exact same issue, it didn't work and when I tried again it did. The instructor who is also our WSO fails to do his job correctly making it so you can't progress past this step. Track file attached for everyone's viewing pleasure. Is it normal for .trk files to be this large? I'm looking at the list of .trk's in the folder and it looks like all (or very nearly all) large files are for the F-4E. I had to zip this one in order to upload it. F-4E_bugged training.zip
  12. It's Task 3, Step 3. The instructor wants me to set the HSI heading and I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't make it past this step. It won't let me attach the .trk because it's larger than 50 MB. .trk file has arrived in zip form. F-4E_HSI Check.zip
  13. I had no issues with the STAB Augs, that's easy peasy. I had some sort of issue with setting the ADI and HSI correctly. I haven't tried again yet but will later today and I'll post an update then.
  14. I jusst thought that this was worth repeating.
  15. I found it by going to the takeoff training mission and it is high on the left wall hidden behind some stuffs. So I mapped it to my throttle. That said, I couldn/t get past step 3 of that mission where it wants you to line up on the runway and then check your ADI and HSI compasses and set the right course. Dunno what I'm doing wrong there so I took off anyway and then found out I can't adjust trim until I fix the issue with step 3. lol
  16. Where exactly is it located on the left wall? I can't see it even moving my head to get the lowest possible view (and moved the seat all the way down, using TrackIR). The manual isn't much help because it just shows what the lever looks like and not the surrounding area. I've searched for this but came up empty. I haven't had to use it until now because I've air started or started hot on the runway every time. Weird that I can't find it even by slowly moving my mouse over the wall sections that I can't actually see.
  17. Link to the mod?
  18. Track with Jester not even seeing the target until it's inside 5nm. No lock F-4E.trk It took a few minutes to create a track file, cool your jets man, there is nothing nasty about anything I've said in this thread.
  19. He doesn't even lock a target that is 5nm and closing. I do not know how to operate the radar from the front seat and if I have to learn Jester's job also then how am I supposed to do my job in the front seat? Frankly, I don't care to learn his job also because I already have a full plate.
  20. Exactly. We shouldn't have to tell Jester how to do his job. If we do, then he's redundant and doesn't need to be in the back seat. If I have to do his job and mine, I might as well not fly the Phantom. I have enough to do without doing his job also.
  21. I have these same issues. Head on Jester never gets a lock even if I'm lower in altitude than the bandit. I end up switching to heaters or my gun. In fact, the only targets that Jester seems to lock are large targets like bombers/AWACs/tankers.
  22. "It's not a game" heh "Video game" includes many genres including, but not limited to, FPS, RTS, MMO and..../drum roll....simulations. I'll never understand the kind of elitism you displayed in your post, my brain simply can't break that down and make it sound reasonable. In the ultimate realism, you get one life, period. No one wants that.
  23. Is it a fair assumption that you like to do things in the game as they were done historically? If so, then you'll be launching from land bases sooner rather than later anyway. The Navy didn't keep carriers there forever. My point is that you can choose to accept the map with it's limitations and still have fun doing what you like, or at least partially (no carrier ops). You can still have fun on this map.
  24. No opinions have been shut down in this thread. Only Nineline and Bignewy can really do that. I do have a couple questions for you. Why does every map need carrier ops? The U.S. Marine Corps flys the same planes as the U.S. Navy correct? If so, why not be a marine on the Afghan map instead of a squid?
