I have the VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle by Virpil. I have a throttle detent set for afterburners that works on every afterburning jet except the F-4. My burners light/extinguish just fine, they just light earlier and extinguish later than other jets. The detent can be moved but it's already as far aft as it will go and it's not far enough. Any suggestions?

DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024

I might go make some fishing lures. I need some frogs (all 4 sizes), stick baits (especially in my tournament winning color), lizards (both sizes) and some new buzz baits. I'll probably stop for ice cream on the way there and charge it to ED so I can feel better. -

Damn it all to hell Bignewy. I've been starting DCS every 10 minutes looking to see if the F-4 was downloadable yet. I guess its time to find something else to do for the rest of the day. Lol -

To @IronMike and all the rest of you at Heatblur thank you for bringing us the F-4E Phantom II. I worked on this aircraft as an "Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist", fancy name for an aircraft weapons mechanic. I loaded munitions and maintained the weapon system on this aircraft (and the F-15A/B). I was ecstatic when I heard you guys were going to bring us the F-4E and I set aside my pre order money then. And now? I had a very cool job but I always envied the aircrews getting to fly and engage in mock dogfights and occasionally beating up our enemies for real. Now I get to fly this famous Cold War warrior in a virtual setting and I can't wait to beat MiG's like the unwanted redheaded step children of cyberspace. THANK YOU Heatblur!!

Well done. I'm so hyped! -
Thanks for the updates. It's always nice to see what developers are working on and what their challenges have been. I'd love to see more updates like this in future projects. Heck, maybe even start with a list of things that need to be done and cross them off for us as they get completed? Thanks again @Ironmike.

Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!

I will, as soon as I figure out how to start it. -
I would love to see updates from the dev teams where they tell us what they're working on, things they find that have to be fixed/reworked and things that still need to be done. I don't necessarily need a release date.

Everyone else flies, they just don't fly as long or as far. -
Yeah, the wing tanks were 370 gallons and the centerline was 600.

I asked my crew chief, SSgt Paul Lane that question and he replied "because that's all the T.O. requires". I never asked again.

So why isn't the A-4 an official mod? Seems like its good enough to be one.

I want to bomb NVA units outside Khe Sahn.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see what this has to do with my post.

My apologies for the post I made after this one. I didn't see this until after I made my post and edited it and in retrospect I should have deleted my post as soon as I saw this and in not doing so I made your job harder. I regret my inaction in this matter.

With the shotgun like pattern and high rate of fire the odds of scoring a hit increase in the same manner that a shotgun increases your odds. In an actual shotgun, the shot not only spreads out (width) but it also creates what is known as a shot string where the individual pellets arrive on target at slightly different times. The shot string effect is more pronounced with lead shot than it is with steel or other non-toxic shot alternatives.

I've never played War Thunder so I didn't know it was from that game. I'll edit my post and thanks for the correction.

Spin up time on the M61 is greatly exaggerated by people. As you can see, the gun fires almost instanteously, quicker than the F-5 with it's blast doors. Pilots are also taught to fire 1 second bursts, which is about 100 rounds. Dispersion. It's intentional with both the M39 revolver cannons and the M61. When boresighting the M61 you boresight 3 of the 6 barrels and they never boresight to the same spot on the target. The gun is designed to fire with a shotgun effect, in this case, an 8 foot spread at 1000 yards. I believe the SUU-23 gun pod is the only one that was driven by an electric motor, the SUU-16 was driven by a ram air turbine that required the aircraft to be moving at 300mph minimum but 400+ was optimal. M61's mounted internally on aircraft are generally driven by the aircrafts hydraulic system. ROF advantage goes to the M61 almost instantly. *Edit* Edited for accuracy.
