  1. Yeah i delete those folders each time i change a setting but it doesb't make a difference. And it's something specifical with the cockpit but for any aircraft it's not like the SA page and radar issue as has occured before. For soe reason looking down innthe cockpit drops my frames by 50fps. I fixed it once, but can't seem to fix it again.
  2. So I was running default High settings with a couple of changes. I was running at around 110-90 fps in the cockpit. However after tweaking a few settings, but then reverting to my old settings I now get a noticeable fps drop, especially when I look down at the gauges or glass screens in the cockpit. Now instead of 110-90 I'm getting 55-49 sometimes. This happened once before, and I though I had fixed it by reverting to default high setting which seemed to bring it back, but now after I tweaked it a bit, I'm getting very poor fps again, but reverting to default high doesn't seem to change anything. Any Idea why this is happening, and how to fix it? My system is a 1080ti running at 2.0ghz, a 9700k overclocked to 2.0ghz. an SSD, and 32gigs of ram, at 3200hz.
  3. Should be obvious Well tactics my friend. Why take it out into the open where it's a even fight, when I can take it into the hills and have the advantage? As for running, sometimes you'll get caught out of position, however if I can bait you to follow while I run where I still am safe but then put you into a situation where I can turn the tables and have the advantage then running is valuable tactic, F-14s and F-16s run from Hornets all the time, because sometimes pressing the fight is not to your advantage. Done a whole bunch of head on jousts with a viper against the hornet and with a hornet against the viper it's a pretty even fight, and I've won and died with both. Lot's of the time it's a combination of luck, terrain, and hair splitting timing that makes the difference, and lots of the time we will both either get nothing, or both of us will frag the other. If the hornet is head on at me at angels 30-40 at mach 0.9 or above and I'm at angels 15-20 you bet I'm turning cold in the viper and hiding in some hills, same as if the positions where reversed. With Growling sidewinder server you'll often have a few F-14s with 6 aim-54A mk60s, so staying high at angels 30-40 is not wise for anyone on the opposite team, as that is the space where the Tomcat loves to work with. however if it's just F-16s and hornets in the area though, you'll find people at all alts and the fight pretty even, possible very slightly in the hornets side favor
  4. Not sure what server and when you last played? I'm not having, or seeing any issue with the F/A 18 radar, and i find it easier to find targets with and employ then the Vipers radar. Also there isn't any air dominance by red on the growling sidewinder server. It's pretty even, and it's not the F-15s that are doing the heavy lifting for blue. Tomcat is limited to staying over the sea or flat terrain or else it pretty much gets flanked and dies. Joust fights with the F-16 and the F/A 18 pretty much go either way, usually who ever has the better position and numbers wins and that varys a lot, usually the hornets are sticking around longer so they have time to set up good positions. F-16 can get higher faster but can't stick around for long, and if they want to take 6 aim 120s then it gives up the mountains where the hornets eat them alive. Usually in the F-16 I'll take 1 Aim 9x and 5 Aim 120s (air force actually does this with F-15s and F-16s where they will just take a single sidewinder) to give me some options other then running when i'm in the hills.
  5. Mover also said this though "Where the Hornet shines is in the radar itself. The Navy did what the Air Force should have done by realizing that the F-35 was years away and investing in upgraded Hornets (E/F) with AESA radars. Even some of the Marine early A models were upgraded to the A++ variant with the new APG-73 radar and upgraded avionics. The F-16’s APG-68 is not a terrible radar by any means, but it is technology that desperately needs upgrading" He said if the viper had an AESA radar it would beat the hornet. It doesn't though
  6. Hornet still more then a match for F-16 Thing is flying both that i've noticed is in Mil power the Hornet and the F-16 with the same optimized air to air loadouts that the origional poster showed in red are about the same (i think the hornet is a hair faster) and in mil power the Viper definetly has a fuel consumption rate advantage. However when things switch to afterburnner the F-16 consumes way more fuel then the F/A 18 so once things get heated i've been finding it a pretty even fight as the F-16 can't stay at max performace at nearly the length of time as the hornet and if you get into the hills then the hornet with it's better radar and auto aqquistion modes along with it's hud IFF just destroys the F-16s. If it gets to the point that the hornet goes cold low on flat terrain the F-16 can't pursure for long enough to chase down the hornet, I once had a F-16 try to run me down over the ocean on the growling sidewinder server, only to have him turn around and retreat at mil power because he had used all his gas while I had more then enough left to turn around keep it in full burner reel him in to AIM 120 range fire, have him evade that missle and then finish him with a 9x. Yeah the F-16 is fast, but for a limited length of time, it just doesn't have the staying power to control the space. It's got 2-3 joust runs in it then it's done. Hornet has more like 4-5 joust runs.
  7. So a couple of questions with the targeting pod. one if I designate a target point for the pod to look at, and then go into the pod, sometimes for some reason the pod will break off from the target area, and look straight ahead again without me un-designating, and then I can't seem to go back to the target area again, and have to now manually slew the pod to the position. point track seems to also be really finicky especially if zoomed in a lot. Also with the IR mav sometimes I get the crosshairs when I uncage it to disappear, and I can't seem to get them to reappear again, which is annoying, any idea what is happening there?
  8. So does anyone have a work around for the sunglare reflecting off the ddi which makes it very difficult to see? I just keep wanting to rasie my hand up to block the sun.....but I can't.
  9. Yeah with more practice and testing I feel you are correct. Not putting it into area track mode can have you pod be slightly off target as you fly over it. Which is bad if your lasing something.
  10. Translation: I got called out for my obnoxious first comment, and now that my aurgument has no leg to stand on, I'll resort to muddying the waters of this conversation rather then admit I was wrong.
  11. update might have fixed Since the update today on June 17, 2020 i can't recreate. Might be fixes
  12. Sorry I made a mistake in the wording, i didn't mean point track mode. I meamt stabilized snowplow mode when the pod is slewable the default before you press the sensor switch to get into area track and point track
  13. So I don't understand the point of area track mode on the hornet tageting pod? Why would you use it over point track? Also in the past if I had a jdam and a gbu 12 I could use the pod to select and program a target for the jdam by pressing the tdc depress when the pod was aimed at that target. I could then slew the pod to a new target to prepare for when i want to fire the gbu 12 after I fire the jdam, and as long as i didn't press the TDC the jdams corrodinates wouldn't change. Now if I move the tdc at all that position updates the corrdinates for where the jdam will now hit. meaning i can't move away from that first target untill i release the JDAM. Is this just how the pod works realistically? Also now when i fire the laser it will flash on the hud and on the pod as LTD/R and there will be a count down for laser on the hud, but after a couple of seconds it will switch back to L ARM and the laser is no longer firing. Is this a bug? I can work around it by holding the trigger down, but i feel this is a bug? EDIT: Sorry I made a mistake in the wording, i didn't mean point track mode. I meant stabilized snowplow mode
  14. On the hornet after taking a loadout of one GBU 38 and 1 GBU 16 and 1 IR maverik, of I use the jdam or gbu 16 first and then go back into the stores page the maverik disappears from the stores and can't be selected, but it's still attached to the plane
  15. So every time that Fire a SLAM missile at a red Command center I place the cursor on the command center and it tracks, and then at the very last second the missile will automatically and dramatically pull up and miss the target overshooting it but a few meters. I've only been able to counter this by putting it max down with the TDC at the exact moment when it pulls up, but still 80% of the time it will miss the command center unless I'm perfect with the timing. It will track fine to other targets like tanks and BMPs though.
  16. it does work yeah I'm not sure what the new reticle does, but the point track will lock on in both modes, you just have to be close enough like before, however you know kinda have to guess when your in range as it's stays in place as you say except for that cross, instead you have to constantly now undesignated and continue again trying to lock it.
  17. Just a minor thing. but I've noticed if you look at the mirror in certain ways a line appear directly in the centre of the mirror. It show up better in certain lighting and skies. it's now been there for quite a while, and I don't know if it's always been like this
  18. Same problem I'm also having my framerate drop when the radar is on and i'm picking up ground clutter. I also have had the problem in the F/A 18 with a fps drop there when the radar and SA page is on as well, turn them off and everything is super smooth again
  19. My MiG 21 is also crashing on Persian gulf, when I equip the rocket pods, and then select to fire 8 rockets at a time DCS immediately crashes
  20. TWS same issue can't unlock target lock goes into terrain. Yeah i had the exact same problem on the Growling sidewinder server yesterday. New problem since the last time i played was 2 weeks ago, and everything with the hornets radar was fine. Now it won't unlock targets, even breaking line of sight behind terrain does nothing. Something is definitely wrong with it right now
  21. Really? all it did was make me more depressed. over 140 seconds of trailer fotage, and all the Mi-24P got was just less then a second of a backlit shot with tons of sun glare, and hiding as much detail as possible while the Ka-50 P-47, Mosquito, and Ju-88 get tons of on screen time. It's been 9 months since the cockpit pics from back in May. I don't want the Mi-24 to be the released in the last part of 2020, we've been waiting 2 years, give us something substantial.
  22. yep Yeah that is the exact problem. I have the newest version of the openbeta installed it also does the full line of 0's if i mess up entering during full alignment as well
  23. Anyone else getting this? Haven't flown the harrier in a while, but i'm pretty sure this wasn't a thing a while back?

  25. So playing the convoy mission I find it very difficult to find the convoy before they spot me and proceed to use the avenger to hurl multiple stingers in my direction. what Is a good strategy when you are trying to find a moving set of target. should I try and fly higher and just periodicly throw out flares, or should I stick low to avoid being spotted?
