TM TWCS "Rudder" Paddles re-binded?
dmwierz replied to dmwierz's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks. -
I've got another thread going here about zoom in/out not working properly with my TWCS, however, I think I've identified a more fundamental issue: Neither the fore/aft throttle or the "paddles" on the TWCS are registering in DCS for the SU-25T. All the buttons, switches, hat switches and the POV hat switch work fine. I opened the TM Control Panel and verified the throttle and paddles are recognized by my computer, which leads me to think something is wrong with the way I'm going about my setup in DCS?

TM TWCS "Rudder" Paddles re-binded?
dmwierz replied to dmwierz's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is really odd. Turns out NONE of the analog controls on my TWCS are registering in DCS. The buttons work, but not the paddles or even the fore/aft throttle. The hat switches also work fine. Went into the TM Control Panel, and it's seeing the analog controls fine. Help? -
Found the UI settings, but the paddles on the TWCS still won’t register, and neither does the scroll whell on the left end of the throttle. I move everything through the complete range of motion, and nothing shows up. Buttons work fine, though. About ready to give up

TM TWCS "Rudder" Paddles re-binded?

John, good idea. Thanks. I was thinking the “paddles” would be convenient, but if I can’t figure out a method to bind them, the knob is a good alternative. Wish there was a way to loosen up this knob, though. Mine turns REALLY roughly. -
TM TWCS "Rudder" Paddles re-binded?

Thanks. What is the difference between Camera Zoom View and Zoom View?? -
Ok, I have a TM TWCS, and would like to re-bind the paddles on the front to zoom in and zoom out (since I already have rudder pedals, and these paddles look very convenient for zooming in/out in VR), but can't seem to get them recognized in the control setting menu for any of the aircraft. I cycle through the full range of motion on both the left and right paddles, and nothing appears in the configurations like it does with other controllers. I can see the paddles in the "Axis" settings, so I know DCS is seeing them. Just can't seem to use them for anything other than rudders.

Cool, I'll give this a try. Thanks

Ok....so how, then? I've even tried mapping the zoom functions to buttons and keys on my various controllers, and still, no joy.

I've spent the last couple hours trying to figure out why I can zoom in/out on the TF-51 with standard keyboard commands in 2D, but when I switch to VR, zoom no longer functions. What am I doing wrong?

I may not be the best person to comment on this, as I may have spent too much time in the engine rooms of steam-powered USN vessels, but the headphones sound fine to me, and I really like the volume control on the HMD. The mic is also good, but I’m trying to figure out how to use a separate boom mic, to get the pick-up closer to my mouth. As far as removing the headphones, I’m sure there’s probably a way, but nothing obvious to me. Are the headphones as good as a set of audiophile cans? No, they are not. Are they good enough? IMO, absolutely, plus they provide 3D effects nicely, and their integration with the on-HMD volume controls is a very convenient feature.

I just look at it like I'm thinking out loud, and saying what I would normally be doing.

Anyone....anyone...??? Bueler? Bueler?

Flying a B-17 over Europe in WWII was one of the many reasons I became interested in DCS in the first place.

Need a hardware trim wheel. Anyone? Located in Chicago, USA

Blacely, did you ever "go live"?

That's the first thing I wondered about myself. With you spinning around in your gyrating salad bowl , what are you seeing in your HMD?

You aren't considering any of the Windows Mixed Reality HMD's? I started from scratch, and went with the Samsung Odyssey, which is currently discounted to $399, complete, because of the higher resolution than either the Rift or the Vive, and the inside-out tracking (which I actually like). The resolution is identical to the yet-to-be-released Vive Pro (2x1440x1600) and AMOLED screens. So far, the thing has been superb, and I'm an absolute VR beginner. I like the inside-out tracking, and even if I was worried about room scale not being as good as the Vive or Rift, this is a non-issue, since 95% of my VR simming will be flying or driving titles. I'm running an i7-7700 @ 4.5Ghz with 32GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 (not ti) GPU. Smooth as silk

Searched a few different ways and can't locate this thread.

I concur 100%. My joystick mount is between my knees in my sim cockpit (no comments, please... :) ) and my throttle device is mounted off my left hand/arm, both where they would normally be in a HOTAS configuration. While a device like the one shown in this thread would be nice for a desktop simulator, there's no way I could use it in a semi-authentic cockpit.

"Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1"??? No Windows 10 for ibaServer and iBa Effects?

I’ve been flying X-Plane 11 for several years, mostly to augment PPL training IRL, and mostly GA aircraft, like the Cessna 172, on a physical cockpit with three flat screens. I recently acquired a Samsung Odyssey HMD to play with, and will be using it for X-Plane. GA controls are fairly straightforward, and at 120kts, you have some time to work with. Recently, I’ve picked up the bug to investigate DCS World, and have begun learning the 2.5 Beta, both in VR and flat screen mode. It’s very clear to me there are WAY more controls than in a GA aircraft, and the dizzying array of keyboard commands are cryptic and impossible to remember in a visual cockpit, but wearing an HMD, as my Kentucky in laws would say “Dog won’t hunt”. Sure I can map many of the most important ones to my joystick and throttle, but that leaves me with dozens of flight control, weapons and communications commands unmapped. Voice Attack and its corollary program, VAICOM, look VERY interesting and exceedingly useful, and I will be investigating them further. Has anyone come up with a standard list of Voice Attack/VAICOM commands for the most common aircraft in DCS?

Wow! That is an extremely informative post! Thank you. I’m not sure I understand it all, but I’ll work through the information. Thanks again.
