All developers need to stop releasing new modules, and focus on completing those they already have. Deka are the notable exception. I think they're totally distracted by the M-2000, and their work with the French.

I have the same issue locking Maverick. Good contrast so this should not be an issue.

Hi, I'm using buttons to slew TDC. When slewing DTM it jumps around during the moment of slew. Same for TGP. Maverick may slew, or jump and not slew. Extremely annoying!
-
Do you find TDC slew to be bugged? When I slew the view jumps all over the place.

Remember our recent discussion of the Double Ugly? :D It seems we can now have asymmetric load-outs! She flies good! -
I think I read somewhere it is comparable to the AIM-9L. Slightly better than the P in that it can get a head-on lock, and has higher maneuvering margins, but it isn't great. I think min range is 1 NM or 1.5 NM so inside of that you may find the missile goes "dumb" because it loses the target before it can track it. Better go guns if you're that close.

How do we switch them?
-
All the loadout schematics show it can be carried centerline and outer pylons, same as WMD7/DL pod. I'm starting to think some of these restrictions are not accurate. Still no capability for C-802Axx on centerline, either. I think the centerline can carry everything (but only singles).

I would hope Deka are for realism and accuracy, above "iT's MuH jEt". All the info is pointing to it being capable, so whether PAF actually do it is not the same as the aircraft not being able to do it if they just wanted to. F-18 can carry a tactical nuke, but the fact the USA doesn't fly them every day with one is no reason to prevent them being carried in DCS. I love dropping the B61 in BMS.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

[Collections] What you want to be able to bind in keyboard/device
Tiger-II replied to uboats's topic in JF-17 Thunder
Well it is a 3 position switch, and OFF is the center detent. In reality it would need to move through that position, but the sim jumps straight from DEPLOY to CUT, and no way to cycle through OFF. OFF is also required to prevent depletion of The Precious. Also, there is a weird locking behavioor, too, where the switch would get locked at CUT, but it seems the last update fixed that. -

In light of other discussions, I'd like to see: * P key cycle OFF->DEPLOY->OFF->CUT->OFF... A way to bind the switch to a 3-way switch on HOTAS. -
It's possible a missile has a loiter mode of operation upon loss of target, but as far as avoiding terrain, they don't have the capability. It would require either an internal map and a radar altimeter, or INS positioning to know where the ground is. AFAIK they only know their relative position in space and the target data they pick up with the seeker. If you look at the cruise missiles with terrain-following capability, those things are huge and have more powerful computers onboard. Even JDAMs and glide bombs don't avoid terrain, but follow very simple GPS routes along a ballistic path. If they hit that big hill you didn't account for, so be it.

Agreed. Is it automatic switch-over to the emergency system? I don't see any other switches except the one we have for the drouge chute.

SD-10 deliberately veers away from target just before impact
Tiger-II replied to njoyyoursalad's topic in Bugs and Problems
That might explain an oddity I saw last night in MP. I put it down to RWR strangeness, but I noticed the missiles fired at me were all heading towards where I dropped chaff, and not towards me. At the time I thought it was odd they were all heading for where I had been (I don't believe my tactics to be anyhting special), but figured I had spoofed them successfully, but now you're making me think I was actually seeing this problem. -
Speed of the controls depends on fps
Tiger-II replied to arkasha_s_mishkoi's topic in Bugs and Problems
Best I can get in the cockpit (4K) is 63 FPS. With some of the displays (WMD7) pulled up this drops to 43. At 1080P res I get 130 FPS. I also discovered this by accident: -
Speed of the controls depends on fps
Tiger-II replied to arkasha_s_mishkoi's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'll try that! DCS is definitely slower though. I have a mission with 14 human-flyable aircraft (all set to client), and in the ME it takes forever to load the mission. My rig is no slouch, either. I'm going to try dumping all the eye-candy and see what max FPS is. I used to get 80+ so something is definitely slowing things down. Generally, it has got slower since they added the lamp glare effects, and changed the lighting in the sim generally. -

RWS is unaffected? I reported exactly this yesterday. -
Note that the g limit held is not precise. Seems the actual g sustained depends on pitch rate at the time the g limiter catches the aircraft. Findings: * AA mode: M <= 0.85, g limit = +8.0 M > 0.85, g limit = +6.0 * AG1 mode: g limit = +6.0 * AG2 mode: g limit = +4.5

AA, AG1, or AG2?

No aircraft were lost in the determination of the Board's findings... *ahem* 1) It bleeds pneumatic pressure the entire time the switch is in DEPLOY or CUT 2) If you use a key bind, it goes OFF -> DEPLOY -> CUT, using lots of pressure 3) If you click the switch, you can return it to center to save pressure 4) Once NORMAL system is exhausted, there is no way to use the emergency system, even though present 5) Wheel brakes are hydraulically powered.

I know...maybe it is perception and not reality, but it seems that way. I've been paying more attention to this and FPS here are definitely lower. I think DCS itself has become a bit slower with the last few updates. I'm sometimes struggling to get more than 30 FPS in a clean jet. -

Missiles avoid terrain? I never heard of that. Just doesn't make sense for AA missiles, and they're already computationally constrained. They either track and hit, or they don't. They don't care about terrain. I'd say this is a definite bug (in DCS). -
I thought the brakes were hydraulic? Pneumatic air pressure...now there's something I don't even know where to find the instrument... Time for a controlled crash in the name of science...

Hi, I was flying quite a bit online this evening in a single aircraft for several hours. The first few times I re-armed/refuelled the chute was packed and worked at the next landing. From the 3rd landing, this no longer worked. I had also damaged my jet (tyres) on the previous takeoff, so did a repair. After this, the chute worked on the next flight, but after that it didn't work again. I shutdown completely and re-armed/refuelled, but nothing. Is this bugged or am I missing something?

Depends. If you have air superiority/you're not likely to get shot down, then unless the SAM threat you're going up against is something serious, then yes, you can fly without it. I find internal fuel can get me a long way as it is, if I'm careful. That includes whacking lots of ground units. Words to live by: ENERGY MANAGEMENT. I also fly gliders IRL. It helps. :D You need to be careful at takeoff, but I otherwise: * Set AB switch to OFF * Set engine rating to TRAINING (after takeoff) It helps save fuel. The secret to using a jammer is to keep it switched off until you need it. If you see the enemy, don't switch it on until they start looking at you. Use it to break lock, but do not keep it switched on if a missile is in the air (even if they still have lock). If the jammer is on and they still lock you, switch it off. It quickly goes from being mosquito repellant to a huge missile magnet in a second. Breaking lock is important as it forces the missile to go active (if active seeking) and you can then play energy and angles games with it, trying to either fly outside of its radar cone or just defeating the missile kinematically. If it still has guidance from the launch aircraft, it can follow you better than if it has to figure it out for itself. Its processing is far more limited than the launch platform, so it has to just play follow-the-aircraft, which burns more energy (at least, that's how it is supposed to work).
