Are DCS A-10 and Black Shark going to intertwine. Meaning I can fly CAS in my A-10 while my wingie is flying a Turkish KA-50? Or is DCS A-10C a stand along product?

What Russian aircraft has illumination flares?
Dusty Rhodes replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I just did a mission with the AFAC as SU25T and it smoked the column with orange smoke no problem. I set it up as AFAC with excellent rating with WP2 as a turning point and WP3 and 4 as a begin loop and then end loop and it smoked up the column good. I could hear them coughing :) The A-10 is a different story. I am going to attach a mission and you can see for your self what happens. It gets boogered up when set up the same way as the SU25T mission and it has to do with the Target Point and Willie Petes loaded as your AG weapons loadout. Whichever WP you set the target point to, the A-10 flies to that WP and then begins a slow turning decent until it crashes. Add a Maverick or some other weapon to it and it will fly the waypoints, fire off one Maverick into the wild blue yonder right at the WP and then kill one of the targets with the other Maverick, but it WILL NOT engage with Willie Pete Rockets and in one instance after firing off the two Mavericks and having nothing but Willie Petes left for AG weapons, it turned to the right and crashed into the ground. Take the attached mission and play with the weapons loadout and the targetting point and see for yourself. AFAC Smoke.miz -
You are better off reporting your problem here on this message board.

The schedule calls for 9 months after DCS Black Shark so sometime around 9 months plus and we should see my beloved Warthog.

I would like to know if the patch will patch right over the game and not cause anomolies in missions like LOMAC did. With LOMAC you had to pretty much scrap your missions and start over with each patch. Is that going to be the case with this patch?

There are tidbits all around these boards from ED employee's on some of the things that are fixed in the patch. You just have to search Ullrich and there is another ED person whom I can't recall have posted the info.

The most likely is Insurgents. The Kurdish Rebels living in Turkey take refuge in South of Georgia so Turkey wages an air campaign against the Kurds or invades Southern Geogria. USA comes to a NATO partners aid and Georgia and Russia fight for Georgian Soviergnty. That is the scenary I was going to work on.

In Black Shark the T-72 can one shot one kill an M1A2 Abrams at 3400 meters on the move, toward each other, as can the T-80.

I wish for airfields and towns in Turkey part of the map. That would open up a new front and various possibilities. I would also like the Crimea back.

I wish there was some way to code that when vehicle traveling cross country can either fjord over water that is easy to go over or it finds a way over the water, say, by travelling to the nearest bridge and going over that way. Or code in the portable bridges so that units can continue over the water, using a trigger to initiate the bridge.

Target ID Missions - Damn those Labels!
Dusty Rhodes replied to Dusty Rhodes's topic in User Created Missions General
OK I finally got time to add a second vehicle of the same kind for each mission so you can look at one view from the side and one view from the front. There are 30 missions total to ID and Shoot or don't shoot depending on ID. I suggest you make a new pilot in your logbook to do this in case you accidently shoot a friendly. By using these missions I hope to help people wean themselves off of labels by having good vehicle ID skills. There are only 30 vehicle represented but my intent was to represent the most common ones you will see in missions and campaigns. If you need another one, just let me know and I can whip up the mission for it in no time. I hope this helps people and thank you for the suggestion to do 2 views, side by side. Vehicle ID.zip -

Hog Driver gettin his feet wet
Dusty Rhodes replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
For target ID, I made a mission pack with about 30 missions where each one is a different armor or mech or arty target. I made it specifically for ID practice. I don't remember if the M1 was in there, but give it a go. You can find it in the mission message board someplace. I would attach it but I already purged it from my mission folder. It is available in the Missions message board though. -

I checked it out and target detection for the HOG on a moving group of BTR's was at 8 KM. -
Bug or Feature - A-10 Attack Logic
Dusty Rhodes replied to Dusty Rhodes's topic in Bugs and Problems
My tests were done standing still. I will check out and see what happens when the targets are on the move. GG, does the pilot not have a greater ability to see farther away with the MAV screen and it's magnification abilities JUST LIKE the SU-25T and it's TV screen (though the magnification is much better in the Frog T, I believe). -
Bug or Feature - A-10 Attack Logic
Dusty Rhodes replied to Dusty Rhodes's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks EB. Good read. I just wish ED would allow the A-10 TV to be counted as a sensor when Mavericks are loaded up. Right now it is just Mk1 eyeball range for the Hog, even though they have the TV with magnification abilities. They do it for the SU-25, as they should, I just don't see why they can't do it for the HOG if it has Mav's aboard. -
Copy that on the targeting point not attached to take off or land. I will remember that when building missions. The bug is that they are taking off and immediately landing even though there is nothing in their targeting zone. That is a good work around. I never thunk of that. But again, this is a bug and we shouldn't have to work around it, though it is nice to have a work around whilst we wait to see if ED addresses the bug.

GG I ran your mission and as I stated in my above report, it works fine intercepting, even when I used an AWACS instead of a GCI radar. The problem is that 40 seconds after the start of the mission, if there is nothing in their targeting zone, they take off anyways, immediately enter a landing pattern and land. That is the bug I am talking about. Just take your mission and get rid of everything but the GAI flight and the radar and run the mission and see what happens.

Were the targets UK Challenger II tanks by any chance?
-
I set the target zone area as I said in the report posts and and I set the target type to plane. I did use AWACS instead of GCI and it worked fine. The problem is their taking off when nothing is in the target zone. That should not happen. They take off after 40 seconds and immediately enter the landing pattern and land, taking themselves out of combat effectiveness. Now if something enters their zone, they will not respond. I will, however, run these tests again with GCI radars instead of AWACS and we'll see what happens.

No Waypoints, just set to GAI/Intercept in mission type. GG, I did not save the missions but as you can tell they are easy to duplicate. One Mig 29, One A50, and one A-10 is all you need. I will have a look at your mission and see if I was doing anything different and see how yours goes.
