I did find this interesting line in avq32_init.lua. -- optical center is 4 degrees below the FRL collimator_default_distance_factor = {auto_collimator_default_distance_factor[1], auto_collimator_default_distance_factor[1] * math.rad(-4), 0} I'm not a professional programmer, but i believe the game can be changed quite a lot by editing the right luas. Now this is for the hud, but maybe there's something similar for the HMD if someone wants to investigate -
F18 MFD exports now work with a very quick tweak.

Question: v.1.8.0 has removed the very useful player list dock on the bottom left. It's been replaced by another tab, which is nowhere as good as the old dock. It can't be clicked (i read it will be fixed) and it shows all units instead of players only. Any chance we can get it back? I reverted to old version for now... -
Apparently, after spending a long time researching, it's not possible to export the MFD to the main viewport with a background. Either you reduce the size of the main viewport, or MFDs are transparent and basically unusable. However, in ALT HUD mode, the MFDs are drawn with their black background. Is it possible to recreate those MFDs on the main cockpit view instead of the ALT HUD only? Logically, i believe it can be done by lua editing, however i can't find which files to edit I want the results like the image i posted (which has been photoshopped). I think the line: materials["MPD_BACKGROUND"] = {0, 0, 0, 255} in materials.lua can help, but it only changes the background on ALT HUD mfds

Yes, i found the LHCQ mode in the 18 optimal when you know where the enemy is but he's at more than 10 miles, like over the enemy airport or wihin a mountain vale. Also AACQ is great when you pass a mountain peak and you might find a target very close and you don't have time to move the TDC

I think the avionics of the viper look quite a bit worse than the F18 ones. Is it also missing the long range boresight acquisition?

I would like to try to export the RWR to second screen, is this possible yet?

I attached both a track and a screenshot. In the screen, you can see both f18 firing at me (circle) with AIM7 (they dont have any other missile, so it must be STT) however there is one diamond. You can see in the track the diamond appears even before lock. It must be doing it for priority target, not for a lock. rwrtest.trk

Just rechecked. You were right about the circle showing launch, however the diamond doesn't seem to show a lock, but rather a priority contact like the F15 maybe? I have E3 with diamond when it's the only contact. Or multiple contacts locking me and only one is showing the diamond

No, what i mean is i can hear lock and fire tone. However there is no VISUAL indication of which contact is actually locking or firing. All i can hear is the tone. The f18 shows a line from the contact to the center when you are locked, for example

I can hear locks and missile launch, but the RWR scope is not showing any indication of who is actually locking or firing at me. Is this normal?

You can instead go to SMS page, then press S-J button and you can have it not work there, instead ;)

For me, nothing is fixed. If you look midway between hud and HMS, you see double the symbology and is very confusing -
Considering that the game gets significantly worse when people cannot IFF correctly, and that it's way too easy for anyone to share "secret codes", you have my one vote to do coalition based IFF

I get this as well. But i've been getting this since DL was introduced. At 160nm zoom, it's unplayable online. It's not a fps drop, but stuttering. It's definately dependant on the number of things drawn on the MFD. I assumed it was my cpu, (i5-2500k, OC to 4.9). To solve it, i use the declutter option to remove all the SAM rings, and just that improves it a lot. Also, i try not to stay at 160nm when there are too many planes. 40nm or less and the stutter is almost gone. -
I seem to remember thinking the Hornet should be capable of showing MSI tracks on the helmet too? Like target box? I would love to have an always on tdbox of the nearest friendly...

I think if you wait long enough (like 3 minutes after 0.5 OK) before switching from GND to NAV, the map works

Too bad about the hud simbology missing, it makes it very hard to lock a target you barely see, like the launch plume of a sam

Quick question i want to export the MFD within the camera view of the main game. I can do that, but they are transparent. Any way to add a black background? -

Most of the times when i select the sidewinder in flight with a locked radar target, i get no tone. The seeker correctly slaves to the radar target, but i get no tone even when i should i get one. As soon as i fire the missile, the next aim9x comes up, auto slaves to the TD box. and i immediately get tone. The missile still tracks, tone or no tone. Is this a bug or am i missing something?

Yeah because mouse clicking is exactly the same as pushing buttons in front of you. If YOU want that, please do not bind the keys. Let everyone else who wants them, have them.

That's correct, yellow after IFF button means enemy in game. Or their/your IFF not functioning/off

Does the hornet not have a HUD symbol for friendly to differentiate it from unknown? Checking SA or radar every time the target is not diamond is kinda annoying
