Mission editor features request
Shepski replied to Witchking's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I don't think that will happen... Eagle has enough feedback from users, testers, and they know what features a good mission editor should have but the Lock On editor seems to have a lot of hard coding in it that can't be fixed or changed without a major rewrite which would take a lot of time and resourses. That time and those resourse seem to be better used, from what I gather, on patching, Flaming Cliffs, and finishing Black Shark. The next completely new project from Eagle will have a much more robust mission editor because we will be demanding it right from the start! :) I think if Swing Kid can get some help in the debriefing side to continue is campaign work it would be a big bonus for everyone. Andrew... in multiplayer every action is recorded and saved from what I gather... aircraft, vehicles, ships, buildings, weapons, targets, kills, and hits. Maybe, as was suggested earlier in the thread you could use the MP log file and run the campaign as if it was over a network. I'll see if I can get an MP log file for you. -
Here's mine... don't mind the mess... just moved! :) I need to make another version of this that is a little beefier but it works great... stick and throttle are attached with velcro.

Yup... now let's get this back on topic. I still love ya though! ;)

Geez Dusty, Me not supporting Area 51, which, Buckshot has stated previously that the funds aren't a big part of the financial picture( http://www.fighterops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4233 ) and it's more of a marketing aspect, is not the same as Buckshot saying he thinks Black Shark is a waste of money(which he has since clarified). Those are 2 opinions that carry very different weight. Area 51 is not as integral to the development of the actual product then you seem to think and I respect that it's their choice to market it that way even if I don't agree with it. Hell... there was lots of things throughout the devlopment of Flanker/Lock On that I didn't agree with and wasn't afraid to say it publicly. Anyway... I think this has been beat to death!
-
Dusty, Area 51 is a philosophy that I don't agree with but it is certainly not Fighter Ops. Me, as a representative of Eagle, not supporting Area 51 in no way tarnishes the Fighter Ops product. If I publicly said that I would never support FO then you would have an argument.
-
Good to hear Julian... my reaction was a little dramatic, sorry to offend, but that comes from being involved with Eagle Dynamics for almost a decade... man I can't believe it's been that long!
-
Easy there Dusty... Area 51 is not Fighter Ops and like I said, I have every intention of supporting Fighter Ops. Thanks for the lecture though. ;)
-
But you did with no further clarification in the thread... I wasn't attacking you and the FO team, I was simply expressing my disappointment with your vote and what it literally meant. You represent FO and with that comes a lot of responsibilty in public forums... believe me, I know. Better get used to it now because when FO hits the shelves it only escalates.

The Flanker has internal FOD screens that lower into the intake to block debris.
-
It's evolution Goya... it's not just the piece of equipment you fly, it's the technology and the limits being pushed in the development and as a developer, Buckshot should be looking at it that way rather then Eagle's efforts being a waste of money. His vote would be like me saying that Fighter Ops will be a waste of money because I don't want to have to go through the training on a Turbo-Texan. Although I don't agree with Area 51 I would never say that I don't support FO because I will when the time comes because of what they are trying to accomplish in this small community.

Seeing how little there is in the way of development of modern combat simulations today I would expect that you see Black Shark as more then *just* a helicopter simulation and in that you would, as a developer, throw your support behind Eagle Dynamics and what they are trying to accomplish with it rather then just brushing it off as a " I'm not wasting my money on it. I like planes.". When you represent the group that you do, your opinion counts more then you might think... especially when it's public.
-
What I have always wanted was to see Eagle reach their potential with a study sim and with Black Shark we get that... plus the ability to operate fast and slow jets all with individual avionics modeling... it's never been done before.
-
Looks like I jumped the gun on that comment... ... looking at the way Buckshot voted it seems he has no interest in supporting another sim developer... http://forum.lockon.ru/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=134 That alone says a lot about you Buckshot and it also reflects on your product and your team. I expected much more from you.

Good point Revvin... back on topic everyone!!! :)
-
Easy does it guys... this thread is to remain civil!
-
If it is out when Black Shark is released, FO will be a training simulation, not an adversary combat simulation so we are talking 2 VERY different products. Black Shark is a true study sim of the Ka-50... Eagle dynamic's first true study sim and it's paving the way for study sims of other great military machines. I'm blown away with the depth of what they have done in the Ka-50 at even this early stage.

You can take off from a building just as easily as you can land on one.

Finally Got FC Have Some Questions...
Shepski replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You could make one pass from high altitude and drop some SABs and then turn back for the bomb run and you should have enough time to get it on target. -

He was using it to get the intial acquistion of the target but once the bomb is released it has to use it's own optical seeker and because it can't see in the dark if flys a purely ballistic tragectory rather then guiding in on the target. -

Great help guys!! Do you have a rotary dial on your HOTAS assigned to the radar elevation axis? If you do you want to make sure it is centered and not rotated when slewing the air to ground pipper. -
Black Shark looks to be pushing avionics and systems modeling beyond that of Falcon 4.

I have been using TIR 3 Pro with Vector Expansion with v1.2 pre-beta and it works great in 6DOF. TIR 4 will offer a wider reception widow for the IR signal so it will be better in that regard but I'm very happy with TIR 3 Pro VE.
