  1. I was thinking the same thing:lol: a week, yeah right, I guess you have no other life and you dedicate 12 hours or more every day for 7 days:pilotfly::smartass:
  2. Wow, I've had my Warthog for a few months now and I'm on the DCS Forums all the time...yet I'm just running across this thread! ORDER PLACED :) Redtail out
  3. practice, practice and more practice:smilewink: it gets easier just stick with it. Those youtube videos are a gold mine of valuable info/lessons:thumbup: Also, if you have a laptop, download a little free program called "youtube downloader" which enables you to save youtube videos to your PC for later viewing. That's what I do to allow me to watch them anywhere, when no internet is available.
  4. Sorry it took so long to find, I actually forgot where I found this tip :music_whistling: check out this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70931 it was a simple matter of adding -- to line #72 of MFCD_init.lua in \DCS A-10C\Scripts\Aircrafts\A-10C\Cockpit\MFCD\indicator I also add the dashes to line #74 as well which disables the MFCDs from showing while in outside view. It's all in the thread. works great!
  5. why not disable the MFCDs in the cockpit view that way you won't be looking at duplicate screens while flying? There's a thread somewhere here that shows how to edit them out, can't remember where i found that tip but it works great for my setup. I don't have ipads, i just run the MFCDs exported to another monitor and I'm using Thrustmaster cougar MFDs velcroed to the monitor bezel. Hope to get ipad someday :)
  6. thank you so much for clarifying that because I'm so use to using a lot of rudder in my real world flying a Cessna 172, that I thought something was a little off with the little need for rudder input when I make turns in this sim :) I found myself using too much rudder and had to slowly make myself start using only small amounts to avoid overcompensating :music_whistling: Man I must say, this sim is simply remarkable! This is the level of detail in a flightsim that I've longed for ever since I got my first computer back in 1983 when I was 17. I finally went to flight school and got my license in 1998 but I'm sure that if I'd had DCS A10c back in 1983 when I was in high school.....I would have certainly joined the air force to sign up for the A10 program
  7. tried that route already:music_whistling:
  8. thanks maja but it still didn't work. for some reason whenever I move the mouse off of the main monitors and point to the helios monitor i lose stick and throttle input and switches flip states. I even edited the profile to make switches 'touch' not swipe.
  9. Thanks, I'll give this a try and report back. Maybe the 'touch' option is the key.
  10. for the life of me, I wish someone could tell me why helios doesn't work well with a mouse on a non-touchscreen monitor! I have a 4 monitor setup....DCS A-10 running on 3 via TH2Go and helios on the 4th. Anytime I move the mouse to the 4th monitor to interact with the helios screens, it switches off autopilot controls and it also disables my HOTAS controls so the jet is no longer controllable until I put the mouse back over one of the main 3 monitors! Tried to get an answer over in the Helios forums but that was useless :( ....someday I'll probably get a touchscreen but no time soon :)
  11. thank you. damn you learn something new everyday. this is why i love the forums;)
  12. Fantastic! love your work. will be flying blue for sure
  13. hahaha someone want to buzz the tower :) LMAO
  14. yeah both are great. i personally find A10 more enjoyable all around :) That might be because i lean more towards fixed wing and i fly a cessna 172 in real life. the A10 is just so damn awesome! badass and a blast to fly
  15. yeah i totally agree with EtherealN and others here. The WH is simply awesome for it's quality, feel, accuracy, stability etc. I upgraded from the Cougar which I sold to help pay for the WH. The bottom line is...is it within YOUR budget, if not, go with whatever is. But to try to explain how useless it is for anything other than A10 is ridiculous! Just say "I can't afford it right now" or "it's not worth spending that amount to ME". That said....I've only used it in DCS A-10 so far, but I'm sure I'll be using it with other aircraft IF I ever pull myself away from the HOG :) Best damn HOTAS I've ever used.....love the precision of the hall sensors and the throttle detents!
  16. you actually plan to fly this on your laptop sitting on your kitchen counter? i feel bad for you :) this sim begs for a true sim setup, Hotas, rudders, TIR, multi monitors, and comfortable chair..lol. But if it works for you, great! Very true statement about the HOTAS Warthog :) I don't think I could ever go back to a regular stick and keyboard commands for china hat forward long and the host of other commands! This stick is simply an amazing work of art. I sold my old Cougar to get this stick/throttle. The Warthog is what the Cougar should have been.
  17. This sim is "AS REAL AS IT GETS" ! Truly a work of art.
  18. Best most Awesome Flight Simulator I've ever used......and I've had em all going back to 1983 on my Commodore-64. Got my PPL back in 1999 Cessna 172 and let me tell you, nothing else that I've flown on the PC comes as close as DCS A-10C to giving me the feeling of actual flight. The flight model feels real (although I've never flown an A-10). This sim is remarkable even if you never get into the combat portion of it.........Well worth the asking price! I haven't touched FSX or X-Plane since this came out :)
  19. also, remember to use your trim while on single engine......really helps!
  20. absolutely. I've practiced single engine in this thing since I first got it and it handles great! awesome sim. I even go up sometimes and fly inverted til both engines die then try restarting them :) if i'm unable to in time......then I practice looking for a place to do an emergency landing....load of fun
  21. half the price? hell you can download that for free from another post on this forum :) oh yeah but we were talking about a printed copy...lol
  22. printed it at work for zero :) now I just have to take it to staples and have them coil bind it. At least when the official manual come out I'll spend the money for it, if the typo errors have been corrected
  23. I was taught in flight school (C172) that a good pilot uses ALL available resources. We weren't allowed to use GPS during early training because they wanted you to perfect the use of paper charts, but you can bet as soon as I got my PPL, the GPS came with me on every flight :) That was in 1999. I guess by now, GPS is probably part of primary training (I hope). So IMO using the TGP is not cheating
  24. yeah I was thinking of doing the same thing at Staples for about the same price, however, I just ran across the TYPO thread and WOW! did anyone proofread this thing before release? I think I better wait to see if all the errors are corrected before I dump that kind of money into a hard copy :)
  25. i wonder why the F15 eagle did so poorly in the poll! although I personally want to see a Falcon or Hornet :)
