hearing youm guys talk about the C-64, Amiga and all those OLD flightsims, makes me feel at home. SubLogic....... & Solo Flight anyone :-)
-
another SubLogic pilot here & Amiga500 :) guess I'm not that old afterall (43).........lol
-
Yeah out of all the flightsims and games I have, DCS BS is the only one that runs better/faster on vista :) So I have a dual-boot setup.........XP pro/Vista64 6GB ram DDR2
-
"but if it works like that in the real KA-50 then by all means it should be implemented that way in this simulation" Amen indeed :) I'm a real life cessna 172 pilot. Wish I could have flown more aircraft.... but thats life. As a long time user of flightsims, I have had it with dumbed-down flight models and arcade games. I for one have longed for the day when we would have accurate flightsims! So bring it on DCS. I'm still struggling with the trim system myself (non-FFB saitek x-45), but I love the challenge :)

Flim, nice setup indeed. I see you have a Cougar. I haven't used mine in a long time because the flimsy pots are all shot :( Is yours modded, or is it just new? hey don't look like you have much room, but a tripple monitor setup with that would rock! Thats what I'm running. If I wasn't in NY, Id love to come over to check out that pit :)

thanks, i'm just about done. I have a Rocketfish Bluetooth adapter. Installed software that came with it on my Vista64. It detected the wii but it won't stay connected, so I think I'm going to have to get a different software for it.

OK thanks, I'm wiring the switch right now. it's been awhile since the last time i did an electronic project :) i used to do them a lot when i was a kid. thanks for your help
-
OK any tips on mounting the switch inside the fingertip of the glove? I've been toying around with electrical tape but not really happy with results

same garbage happened to me..... I finally got my refund after several emails complaining of the double charge! They tried to make it a mistake on my part saying I must have hit back on my browser or something! but I know for a fact that I did no such thing. I've been making online purchases for years, I know not to click back, or buy twice! The problem is definately on their end and they need to fix it before selling any additional products............In My Opinion

eagerly awaiting that first patch for this AWESOME sim. :) currently getting 99% of my flightsim time........

I thought it rather interesting also that those two items aren't clickable (door & throttle levers). since everything else is

If an elite DCS:BS player takes the real KA-50...

LOL......I remember my first few lessons in 45 degree steep turns......hahaha. C172 -
how many of you are interested in printed manual?
redtail replied to dali's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I wonder why you would even attempt such a thing knowing that the official printed manual is soon to be released ??? -
i know about female military pilots........I was talking about female DCS pilots :)

I upgraded from TIR2 to 4 last year.......so I gave my 2 to a co-worker. He wanted to pay me but I refused. I just wanted someone to get some use out of it, because once I used TIR4 with 6 deg,,,, I'll never fly with less! TIR4 rulz..........baby!!! -
Ladies? there are ladies flying the thing? :) Happy new year!
-
Fess up! Who else here is having a hard time?
redtail replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I've got 25 years of sim flight and 3 years of real flight (cessna172). And the only sim that feel as real as Blackshark to me is X-plane 9. I play them all but these two are the best.......IMO -
damn I just ordered my right hand glove, didn't think about using my left hand so i can keep my right on the stick........oh well maybe i'll do both :)
-
I only turn on game mode when my 3 year old son Joshua wants to fly :) He'll be 4 in March

If an elite DCS:BS player takes the real KA-50...

SO back to your question........ in my own experience, I would say, if he had an instructor on board he would probably do pretty good. But even with all of my flightsim experience prior to my first flight lesson.... IF I had taken that Cessna up alone, I probably would have a slim chance of taking off, flying around and landing SAFELY! I most likely would have damaged the plane or killed myself!!! I'm just being honest. Maybe someone else would have done great with no problem....but I doubt it. -

redtail replied to Ferski's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
yeah thats true, as much as I love flying...i always have the "reality factor" in mind when in the real aircraft, knowing that mistakes are costly and can be final! that's what keeps me on my toes when it comes to safety! When I'm in front of my PC, i don't have that on my mind........although I still use the sim seriously most times. But there's a difference when you know you can hit RESET/REFLY :) -

"In Russia, they call this the "ass-meter." :) " hahaha........ I remember how my stomach dropped the first few times I did stalls & recovery! When that nose drop below the horizon it's an eye opener....... theres nothing like making a fixed wing aircraft come to a stop in midair! The thing want to fly and you force it to behave like a chopper :) -
same here, I'm in Valley Stream. never tried MP in BS but I'm interested also. Luv this sim!

"Real life flying (of all sorts) is very difficult to compare to sim flying. The physical sensations associated with real life flying have a very great impact on your ability to control the aircraft. However, in my opinion, the greatest difference lies in the improbabilities of real world physics. Air, weather, and aircraft are all instable and react to so many more factors than a computer flight simulation can... well... simulate." Amen to that brother! :) I flew flightsim for years before taking real flight lessons in a Cessna 172. And man was I in for a shock! Yeah I knew the instruments and what they did (thanks to flightsim) but the actual control and feel of flight was an eye opener. Took me awhile to get used to turbulance and what the wind was doing to the aircraft and how to master the control of it. There are so many factors that go into mastering the real thing, takeoffs, landings, maintaining heading & altitude and proper airspeeds........all while navigating and communicating. It's a lot......but I must say, it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Just wish I had the funds to keep doing it :( I think my biggest challenge was crosswind landings..... after I learned to accept the normallity of turbulance. Flightsim just didn't prepare me for how bumpy it can get and the challenge of maintaining control under such conditions!
