  1. Just finished it. 3.5 hours, ouchh, hehe. Feel very realistic and I liked it a lot. Even managed to refuel :-) I have to agree with Andrei that prosecuting targets in deep fog would be suicidal. I just don't see real pilots doing that, but what do I know :-) Landing back at Vaziani was really tough. Zero visibility. Had to go around five times and on the sixth I touched down and crashed the plane. Hit something but have no idea what it was :-) Yes, and my wingman refused to leave his hangar...
  2. Whoa, finally managed it. Got a full tank. Thanks for all the advice in this thread, it was very helpful and encouraging. Definitely one of the more difficult challenges I have ever been presented with in a flight sim. My 'trick' was to hold the tanker in a certain position in view area above the HUD, then the boom came down by itself. It would be easier if I could maintain contact for longer, but that should improve with exercise.
  3. There's a review out here: http://www.eurogamer.dk/articles/2011-05-25-combat-mission-battle-for-normandy-review-anmeldelse
  4. Posted at SimHQ, a review of COD, with mentions of A-10 :-) http://www.eurogamer.dk/articles/2011-05-24-il-2-sturmovik-cliffs-of-dover-anmeldelse http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eurogamer.dk%2Farticles%2F2011-05-24-il-2-sturmovik-cliffs-of-dover-anmeldelse
  5. It was an inconsidered review by Tim Stone. One of the joys of getting into a study sim like this one is consulting with the community and the learning process itself, quite simply. You get a feeling of achievement by mastering a complex procedure or system.

  7. Here's a link: And a translation: http://www.eurogamer.dk/articles/2011-03-17-dcs-a-10c-warthog-anmeldelse http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=da&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eurogamer.dk%2Farticles%2F2011-03-17-dcs-a-10c-warthog-anmeldelse Cheers
  8. Nice vid, any chance we could get it in higher resolution and as a real tutorial? I'll admit to being somewhat daunted by the JTAC function :-)
  9. This mission started crashing in beta 3 - usually when my first maverick is about to hit a ZSU.
  10. Funny, this mission is the one that is always steady for me.
  11. On my next tries I got a CICU error twice right from the onset of the mission... wonder why that happens?
  12. Very nice mission, but I'm also having freezes, two out of two tries so far at different points.
  13. Countermeasures mission crash just as the enemy airplane is detected.
  14. Have tried the landing mission twice - everything works perfectly until just 20 secs before touchdown, then the sim freezes for a long time and when it gets going again, well, I'm about to or already dead :-)
  15. Cool!
  16. In RL I work with digital marketing and communications. Are any of you guys familiar with the notion of 'seeding'? It's a fairly lame marketing ploy that has a bunch of people, who are paid by a commercial entity, travel the web and remind forum denizens, such as us, that a given product exists and maybe invite to praise of said product. I'm not saying that the OP works as a seeder, and please note that I do myself own a TIR (and like it), but my admittedly somewhat old blasée eyes seem to keep noticing the same kind of TIR posts all around the part of the web which concerns itself with sims and wargames. Oh well, probably just a coincidence. I'm sure Naturalpoint wouldn't bore us, its core clients, with seeding, instead of paying for regular advertising like everyone else does when they have products to sell.
  17. Yeah, ok, I didn't exactly say it was healthy for infantry to get shot at with HEAT rockets :-) But fair enough, it seems people agree there is a bug in the blast radii calculations. I stand corrected.
  18. At 300+MB the patch must contain more than just what the OP listed. That list seems kind of underwhelming for a 300MB patch. I mean this isn't a Windows patch now, is it :-)
  19. Anti-armor rockets aren't supposed to be very good at killing infantry. Apparently there is a blast fragmentation rocket being added to the arsenal in the upcoming patch: NEW KA-50 WEAPONS New unguided rockets have been added: S-8OM - illumination rocket. Once fired, the rocket flies a ballistic trajectory. After 17 seconds, the warhead separates and releases a parachute-retarded illumination flare, which descends at a rate of 8.2 m/sec. The illumination flare burns for 35 seconds. S-8OFP2 - blast-fragmentation rocket. Enhanced fragmentation effects and increased engine burn time. Used against infantry and unarmored targets.
