Great map, Lino! Gut gemacht! Two feedback comments: 1) Would it be possible to add the FC3 airfield numbers to your already wonderful map? 2) Your categorization of the radio frequencies is helpful, but it would be more correct to label them as: - "ATC Modern Aircraft" is "VHF AM" - "ATC 2nd/3rd Generation Fighter" is "UHF" - "ATC WWII Aircraft" is "VHF FM" Pilots in any aircraft with a tunable radio would know which frequency to use based on the input range of their radio. Looking forward to seeing a Nevada version of your map!

List of landmarks in DCS World
EinsteinEP replied to Serp Supreme's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Also, Batumi has a big trainyard at 41°38'47"N 041°39'07"E, right next to the ship yard. It's not heavily populated by default, but adding cars makes it look busy! -
List of landmarks in DCS World

Tuapse has some neat scenery - a stadum at 44°05'47"N, 039°04'02"E and a number of ships at the docks (including a cruise ship). There are numerous little beach resorts along the coast with sailboats sitting out in the ocean (just static, but still fun to buzz!). There are also lighthouses dotting the coastline here, too many to point out, but quite scenic overall. -
Mustang First Take-Off and Landing: Post your Tracks/Vids
EinsteinEP replied to 159th_Viper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I can't speak for the others, but I was experimenting incorrectly. I went through some more deliberate testing and now retract earlier my statement - slipstream effects on the rudder ARE modeled. Hopefully this video puts to bed the question for anybody else who is wondering. I know it has solved the question, permanently, in my mind. Forgot to include in the video, but this test data was taken with completely unmodded DCS World 1.210.30996 and stock P-51D module. -
Mustang First Take-Off and Landing: Post your Tracks/Vids
EinsteinEP replied to 159th_Viper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I'm with Eldur on this one. I've done my own experimentation and it appears that the rudder has zero effectiveness in propwash, which does not seem correct. I'd love to see your track/data that shows the opposite. -
Thanks, all, for the kind words! If it feels like the preview is all gushing, it's because it is. This module is in excellent shape, especially for a pre-release, and Leatherneck sims deserves all the praise they can get. I'm drooling in anticipation for the final release which will be available on [censored]! Hard to believe it's just [censored] days until we can all get our hands on the real thing!

[Open] Warping / Desync in multiplayer
EinsteinEP replied to EinsteinEP's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Yup, you're right Eno - I've got an i7 950 in my machine running at 3.07GHz. 64-bit Win 7, too. -
[Open] Warping / Desync in multiplayer
EinsteinEP replied to EinsteinEP's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Additional note, I flew again later in the day - same DCS, same server, same PC, same mission, same everything - and had no desync/warping issues. The PC had been rebooted in the meantime, but no configuration changes or installs. -
[Open] Warping / Desync in multiplayer
EinsteinEP replied to EinsteinEP's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Cable internet to the house, 12 Mb/s download, 8 Mb/s upload, pretty reliable and repeatable speeds although I haven't done a test in a month or so. Cable goes to a modem, goes directly to a Linksys WRTG wireless router (also completely stock). A hard wire goes from the router, into the wall, out to a distribution panel with a switch. From that switch back into the wall, out to my office/gaming room to another switch. There are two PCs, a printer, and a cloud drive on that switch, but only my gaming PC and the cloud drive were on. -
I've occasionally encountered this before, but I just had a really bad night of it, so I thought I'd finally make a report. In DCS World multiplayer, I am experiencing significant warping/desync of other player vehicles units in the game. I've posted images and videos on the SimHQ thread here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3948773/Re:_Spring_2014_SimHQ/DCS_Fly-#Post3948773 Here's a link to the youtube, though: Pretty dramatic stuff. OK, now for the details behind the pics and videos: Configuration: I am running a completely stock i7 950 [edit: thanks for the correction, Eno!] on a completely stock Asus P6x58D-E with 6GBs of RAM. No tweaks or overclocks. Hard drive is a Crucial 480GB SSD, video card is a completely stock GTX 770. Apps running at the time were TS3, FRAPS, and TrackIR. Antivirus is Avira Free. I was not recording video the whole time, only for the clips seen above. DCS version is 1.2.8.27203, no mods (I know, I'm boring, right?). I originally connected to the server at a network speed of "LAN", saw the desync, then exited out, set the speed to ASDL 2048, and reconnected. There was no reduction in the desync. The server was Eno's Firehouse and there were several other people on at the same time (8 total? 10?). I was flying the Su-25T and the A-10C and experienced desync equally in both. Although I have this one example documented here, I do experience this effect from time to time. Not all the time, and not always this bad, but different servers, different aircraft, different missions, different pings, etc. If there is any more info I could provide that could help resolve this for me, let me know and I'll gladly provide it.

Trimmer Reset vs Central Position Trimmer Mode
EinsteinEP replied to doright's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
In central trimmer mode, cyclic and rudder inputs are ignored by the sim until all of those inputs go to zero. The good side of this is that there is no control bump when applying trim. The transition is buttery smooth and looks great in the hands of a pilot who is experienced with this method. The bad side is that many folks (myself included) are experiencing a complete control lock out when one control (usually rudder for me) isn't zero enough, with catastrophic results. For me this happens pretty infrequently, but it only takes once or twice to make it completely frustrating. My suggestion is to add a timeout to the central trimmer mode such that if the controls haven't met the "zero" criteria after some period of time (say, 1 second), then start listening again anyways. There will be a control bump but I think that's preferable to the control freeze. If folks didn't like the fact that they could ever get the bump they could set the timeout to something ridiculously large, like 5000 seconds, and the trimmer would function exactly as it does now. Heck, if you also added a configurable constant for the "controls at zero" deadband, and a non-central-trimmer pilot could set that to 100% and get the same results as the non-central-trimmer mode. You'd get both trimmers in one! Act now and we'll throw in another trimmer AT NO COST TO YOU! (Just pay the shipping and handling fees of $49.95...) ;) -
How to adjust return-to-center delay in UH-1H Huey?
EinsteinEP replied to EinsteinEP's topic in DCS: UH-1H
In 1.2.6, look in ..\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Uh-1H\FM\FMOptions.lua and you'll see sticktimelag=0.5; w00t! Thank you ED and/or Belstimtek and/or whomever got this implemented! -
Trimmer Reset vs Central Position Trimmer Mode
EinsteinEP replied to doright's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
If we're adding a wishlist for trimmer features, I'd also like to request that a time-delay be added to the central trimmer mode - after nnnn milliseconds restore input control regardless of input control positions. -
There is a HelicopterTrimmerTauInverse parameter in \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Ka-50\FM\FMOptions.lua that one can vary to adjust the time the simulation gives the user to return controls to center and avoid a controls input bump while flying the Ka-50. HelicopterTrimmerTauInverse = 7.0 --lower value - decrease trim speed after trim button release. The default setting for the Huey is awfully fast for me, so I'm looking to adjust it, but I can't find its counterpart in the Huey files. Does anybody know how I can adjust that time?

Looks great, very useful for self-training. I'm looking forward to trying it out. Any chance of adding a 10° glideslope for the help approaches?

I was unable to use "AI Task Set" to get an AI UH-1H to switch waypoints. The command would execute and the AI would RTB. When I switched the action to "AI Task Push", the AI performed as expected.

I had the privilege of meeting Jim in person at the 2012 Lowland Tigermeet and I was immediately impressed with the man. A very likable, personable guy, but smart and passionate, too. He will very much be missed.

Thanks to all, for the good feedback. Especially yours, Weta: I *did* forget to really describe how much I enjoy this sim, in both single player and multiplayer, and someone reading this article may not get that. I will need to do better next time and I'm glad you called me on it. As for the separate multiplayer and DCS accounts, I distinctly recall having "Invalid Serial Number" issues because my A-10C and Black Shark activation codes were linked to different logins: different login name, password, and email account. This thread here describes the solution to this problem that many of us where having. Did one of the updates make it so that it's not possible to bind an activation code to a different account than the one the code was purchased with? The Specials tab of my Options page does NOT have the helper options for P-51D and I *definitely* am playing in sim mode. I've downloaded ophiuchus's option file (thanks for the link!) to restore it, not that I need it or anything <cough cough>, but I'm slightly surprised the autoupdater doesn't correct it through the normal update process. Strange. Anyways, thanks again for the read and the feedback. You can always PM me your comments too, here or over at SimHQ.com! See ya 'round!

Hosting a simple mission, no triggers, with about 5 folks connected (P-51D, A-10C, Ka-50s) when server crashed to desktop ("DCS Stopped Working"). Unfortunately, I don't have more info on what the other clients were doing at the time - I'll get more info from the track file - but wanted to post the .crash log in case it was of any value. # -------------- 20121111-211943 -------------- # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 3FF2C95E 00:00000000 00000000 00000000 0000:00000000 3FF2C95E 001EF4D0 0000:00000000 3FEC3CA4 001EF540 0000:00000000 3FEC238E 001EF6A0 0000:00000000 3FEB8DFE 001EF6D0 0000:00000000 F6738721 001EF760 0000:00000000 F6738BEA 001EF7B0 0000:00000000 3FF9F029 001EF840 0000:00000000 3FFA193D 001EF8A0 0000:00000000 3FFB9684 001EF8D0 0000:00000000 3FFB9579 001EF930 0000:00000000 40040498 001EF9A0 0000:00000000 400418D8 001EFE90 0000:00000000 400442CF 001EFF40 0000:00000000 76E5652D 001EFF70 0001:0001552D C:\Windows\system32\kernel32.dll BaseThreadInitThunk()+D 76F8C521 001EFFC0 0001:0002B521 C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart()+21

How do you manage your tweaks & customisations?
EinsteinEP replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Another vote for JSGME here. I love it. For DCS World I keep a separate mod folder for each module, e.g., CA_MODS, A10_MODS, etc. -
Crashing on connect to Master Server
EinsteinEP replied to 112th_Rossi's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Still intermittent here. Doing some MP mission testing last night and I was in and out for about 45 minutes, then consecutively repeatable CTD on connection to Masterserver for at least 10 minutes. -
Set the burst mode switch in the center panel to Medium or Long (it defaults to Short). Remember to press and hold the weapons release button until both Vikhrs are launched.
