Fingers crossed, Nemeth Designs - guys who make helicopter modules for FSX/P3D - will finally enter the DCS market. We need a dedicated helicopter team.
-
Yes please, D would be awesome!
-
Yes, agree, the fun starts with all of the above implemented.

Reported the exact same yesterday. Hopefully it will be looked into.

No I don't.

My dream helicopter in DCS would be the CH-47 Chinook, this mighty tandem rotor heavy lift beast. First of all, it is different from what we already have in the simulator. We already have standard tail rotor helicopters (Mi-8, Huey) a coaxial rotor helicopter (KA-50) and we also have one with a Fenestron (Gazelle). But we do not have any tandem rotor helicopter in DCS yet - which the Chinook is. One of the fastest and amongst the most powerful helicopters, the Chinook is full of mission potential. Be it a very basic troop transport (we could squeeze in quite a few troops, huh?) or delivering military equipment to the battlefield, dropping paratroopers, moving heavy underbelly cargo (such as a Humvee), carrying out medevac missions into high threat landing zones, dropping humanitarian packages and even carrier ops, there's plenty of combat-oriented possibilities with this well tried and tested helicopter. And then there are the civilian duties, log transport, heavy construction assistance, disaster relief, search and rescue, aircraft recovery, fire fighting, VIP transport and much, much more. And the pinnacle of helicopter flying, mastering the tough and complex pinnacle landing, in which the Chinook is the champion - really, the sky is the limit in what we can use this helicopter for. Since it's been so widely and extensively used around the world, many repaints could be done to it and as a result, several countries could be included, further enhancing its mission capabilities within DCS. What is the Mi-8 for the reds, could be the CH-47 for the blues, two rotary wing titans. Bring us the Chinook please!

[CANNOT REPRODUCE] HUD glass changes depending on rain
Spathiphyllum replied to Dave317's topic in General Bugs
Reported exactly this today. I can reproduce it anytime. -
My bad. Disregard thread. Selected different days, night is pitchblack, can't even see the nose of the jet. Apologies!
-
I usually use the distance measurement tool and run it alongside the runway and it tells you the headings.
-
I can't see any moon here yet it's all too bright. Attached is a screenshot on the Stennis. If I compare it to real photos or YT videos, it's totally unrealistic. Night time should be dark. Check out these to compare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P36FXnzP0Go

It doesn't matter why. Don't hijack my question please.

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
Spathiphyllum replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
In case of the Viggen it was quite similar. Announced the announcement and two weeks later the EA was available. So 14 days after the 7th of October is 21st of October - might be the EA release day. -
[CANNOT REPRODUCE] HUD glass changes depending on rain
Spathiphyllum replied to Dave317's topic in General Bugs
Not sure about it. Might be, but the mission I set up featured no rain at all. -
When cold starting the A10C, by moving my TMW throttle levers from OFF to IDLE, nothing happens at all. Need to move them from OFF to IDLE and back, and then, only then will it register the action. - I tried with and without the "Synchronize controls with HOTAS at mission start" ticked. Same. - I also tried moving the throttle levers back and forth at mission start, before initiating the startup. First time moving them out of OFF into IDLE and back, nothing. Second time, the sim A10C throttle lever does indeed move BUT, when I get to the actual engine start of the startup procedure, I need to do the same again as it won't register when moving from OFF to IDLE. Exact same results when ticking the "Synchronize controls with HOTAS at mission start" box. What I noticed and found interesting is this: In the Controls Options there is: Engine Start Left Engine Start Right Engine Stop Left Engine Stop Right These have the default key binding of RALT+Home, RCTRL+Home, RALT+End, RCTRL+End. However, next to them the TMW HOTAS Throttle binding is blacked out, cannot assign the throttle levers here (Buttons 29 and 30). However, Buttons 29 and 30 are assigned to these: Left Engine Throttle set off Right Engine Throttle set off Isn't Engine Stop Left / Right exactly the same as Left / Right Engine Throttle set off? Why are there two separate entries in the Controls Options menu? Why can't one simply bind buttons 29 and 30 at the Engine Start/Stop Left / Right section (where the Throttle is blacked out)? That way, the Left / Right Engine Throttle set off entry would be obsolete. Nevertheless, in order to be able to start the engine with my TMW throttle, I need to move the levers out of the OFF detent into the IDLE detent multiple times until the game recognizes it. Even if I move the levers back and forth as soon as entering the mission, it won't help. I turn on the APU, but when it comes to starting engines, once again I need to move the throttle levers into IDLE and back to OFF and then and only then, moving them into IDLE again, will actually trigger engine start. Read numerous posts and threads about this, it looks like this issue does exist from the early days of DCS. Will this ever be fixed?

DCS A10C Warthog throttle problem - need help!
Spathiphyllum replied to Smoky's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Exact same issue, 2018... -
Did the Engine Start Training Mission that comes with the A10 module. in exterior view, when zooming further out, some of the paint detail simply disappears. When zooming back in, the detail comes back. Attached two screenshots, one zoomed out, and another one zoomed in. You can clearly see how the "teeth" are simply gone when zoomed out. I guess it has to do with performance related level of detail settings but seriously, altering the skin of the player's own aircraft is quite unusual... This needs to be fixed.

HUD Glass edge shadow Sometimes the edge of the HUD glass suddenly disappears without any gradual transition. I guess it has to do with the reflection that falls on it but since there is no transition of any kind, it looks really ugly. And also, it doesn't look right at all when there's "no edge" on the HUD glass. Attached are two screenshots, one "with" and one "without" edge. -
** Leaving Drydock! Forrestal Class Update **

Awesome! Working elevators and pushback features would be even better. Way to go guys! -
Great stuff! As for the ACLS, I am not too familiar with it although I read a lot about it. As far as I understand it's basically a hands off, fully automated landing system that will basically guide you down onto the carrier without any pilot input once engaged. What I still don't understand, do you need to disconnect in the very last moment and manually touch down or does the system actually land the aircraft for you?
-
Is the Heatblur F-14 gonna be launched on Early Access with functional ACLS or is this system planned for later? It's a system that makes me very much interested in the Tomcat and in the Hornet too but it's not a high priority feature for the Hornet right now so chances are that the F-14 will have ACLS implemented before the F-18. In the beginning I wasn't paying much of an attention to this upcoming module, being new to DCS, but with time I realized Heatblur are - in contrary to my initial thoughts -actually very, very active when it comes to fixing bugs and adding features and communicating to us. Happy to see the upcoming stuff for the Viggen, and now I am excitedly waiting for the F-14 and I am sure it's gonna be a kickass module on par (at least) with the Hornet both visually and system depth wise. Good times ahead!
