Not understanding Late Activation
TechRoss replied to TechRoss's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks guys, I was just coming in here to edit this, I put a zone out front of the boat and it works great no. Thanks for the input, will keep this saved away for future. -
Hey Guys Noob mission builder trying to understand late activation, but I clearly have no clue. I am trying to get 4 flights of F-18s off the Stennis. Trying to simulate multiple launches. Each flight is a group of 2. My flight of 2 is first off the deck, ramp start, cold. I have my next group, call it B set as ramp start, cold, late activation. Then group C the same and then group D the same. The Stennis is stationary, as in docked and I have a trigger zone setup over the top of it. My triggers are set that when my unit leaves the zone, group B will activate, then when group B leaves the zone, group C will activate, and then the same for D. This is not working and B and C seem to be active on mission start. Problem is they start quicker than I can, so they end up causing problems with my flight, normally crashing into my 2. I then tried to the same with Uncontrolled. Not luck, so I setup a Start for each group and tried that in the trigger, no luck. The only other thing I can think off is to try time them and set with time. Any idea what I am doing wrong here. Thanks, Ross

I thought I would never be able to do it. Got so frustrated my shoulders would be so tense and head would hurt. You just have to practice like others have said and relax. Somebody told me to twiddle my toes when I can feel I am tensing and it helps to be honest. Plant my feet flat on the ground and just keep saying relax relax. Never watch the basket, you look at that thing and you are all over. Walk the throttles all the time, if you stop moving them, you are screwed. I found very very small curves better for control. I also found flying around for hours following the tanker was key. No fuel, just fly in formation with the tanker. When you are comfortable and relaxed, try fly up behind the pod. I kept it on the 10 deg line on the HUD in the gap, and just tried my best to keep it like that. That is basically where you will fly when connected. I still make a point of flying formation with the tanker for at least 10 minutes after I have filled up and do one AAR a day (not currently cause I am short one eye, but when I was flying) Keep trying, it will happen...

Definately. It might be a bit close here but the AIM-9X is perfect. 2 of the Migs did not even try evade, don't think they had time. If you bomb from the North, you should be heading directly at the runway, if you are quick, you can drop your first Mig as it takes off. Otherwise, bomb West to East, egress out to sea, turn back in so you hit your flight path between 7 and 8 and you should be alive. The Migs are interested in the Harriers, so if you stay out their way and burn you will make it. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

I don't think you have to wait for a signal. If you can't hit the fighters on the ground just switch waypoints and get out. The trigger seems to be near WP8 I think it was. That being said, load up the 120B and new 9X. I lost a stabilizer in my bomb run and still splashed 4 Migs on the way out. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Hi Guys, just started fiddling with skins on the Hornet. Just making up my own stuff for now. Was wondering if anybody would be willing to share a Canadian details layer for Photoshop. Thanks a mill

Hey Guys Since the update yesterday, I can't seem to get the Controls Indicator Mod by Rackham working. I had it in the EA Cormods folder before because i could not get it to work in saved games. I just normally put it back after an update. Since the update yesterday, not luck in either place. Any ideas guys... EDIT: Sorry guys excuse my stupidity. As I read over the post again I realized what was wrong. It does not go in CoreMods. Mods, maybe you could delete this post please so there is not evidence of my mental state being in such a bad way.

Great vid, I kept thinking boy his graphics are good and that TrackIR is smooth, face palm, it is real life... Just out of interest his left and right DDIs are refreshing in a strange way, you guys think that is just a issue with the filming sync. Camera and DDIs are out of phase or something.

I have had this caution thrown a few times with low fuel, empty center tank, and opening the probe to air to air refueling. From the NATOPS I think this can be a pressure thing. Refuel close probe and reset, all is good. Will look for the track. Edit: From NATOPS One or more external tanks failed/slow to transfer when commanded. Icing may occur in the external fuel tank pressurization system inhibiting external tank transfer and refueling. Descending and accelerating may reduce the effects of icing. External fuel available but not transferring.

Yeah eventually had to make a few changes to mission 3. Changed the Mig loadout to less missiles and they are also set to fire at long range. Changed that to medium range or no escape range. Figured I have no real long range weapons so would even it up. My AMRAMS sorted them quickly. Mission was not a success though, I think because I had a border violation chasing down the second Mig. If you get weapons off on them first they turn very evasive and almost seem like they are running. With this week's update and the new features for the 120B, will be interesting, turn at them and just fire. Hopefully the AMRAMS will go Pitbull I think it is called a d hunt them down. Can't wait to give this a fly tonight. Just a small heads up, the above has small typo, F-15. Once again, thanks for all your hard work. Do you ever have time to fly or are you in the ME all time making fun things for the rest of us.

Man got beaten up last night. Started the campaign again for the third time, mission 1, air defence set to easy in F10, first pass not even hit my turn out and 3 SAMS on my ass. Used all my counters in that run and got taken out. If nothing I am going be good at dodging those babies. Then the dreaded mission 3, those Migs just blast me. Hanging from my shoot looking at the snow and I get the RTB message. Was thinking man that is gong to be a long walk. Still getting my ass handed to me, playing for the third time and still loving it. Again thanks Sedlo and well done.

Are you basically saying you just want to 'reverse' the switch? I am not sure about the hall sensor etc etc, but for a normal toggle, if you add a third parameter you can do this. DcsBios::Switch2Pos starterCover("STARTER_COVER", 3, true); (Assuming this is a default DCS BIOS command. I might be completely wrong here)

The Mav does not always lock up the exact target your TGP is locked onto. The Mav will slew to the area but if there are multiple targets, it could choose another. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

I just started launching missions for carrier yesterday so not sure I can be much help. You need to request ground crew (F8 iirc) to remove wheel chocks before you can move. I think the Wings message is correct, cause they are folded and you should leave them that way to locked into the cat them open them. (Um just for interest sake, with this all new to me and not my normal routine, shot of the carrier yesterday, wings still folded. Think I must have just missed a swim but it did fly. Will post screenshot when at the outer just for fun) Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

[ALREADY REPORTED] AI Aircraft launch problems since last update.
TechRoss replied to Cskelly's topic in Bugs and Problems
Having similar and Cat 3 blast shield seems to be open half the time on mission start and does not close so no more place to land. Have to divert to land base. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk -

Yes the code for the F-18 has been written and is very good. I am not sure about gauges as I never look at these, but buttons and switches and LEDs work great. The DCS BIOS page has a great getting started guide. If you follow that page you will have a switch up and running n no time, after that it is your imagination that will limit you. http://dcs-bios.a10c.de/docs/v0.7.0/userguide.html It seriously is simpler than you thing to get started.

I am going to throw this in here, could help or might not. I got a new PC a few weeks back, there is an headphone out on the front and then obviously on the back. I was using headphones that could connect to a phone so had 3 rings on the jack, the extra one for the inline mic. If I had those headphones plugged into the front jack, I had no Betty, no Deedle Deedle and actually no comms from ATC. If I really listened close, I could hear they were there but just to soft to hear. If I used the rear jack or headphones without the inline mic, it works perfectly. Yes this is probably the mic port, but it is worth mentioning as it might just help. -
Hi, in this case I think it was me doing the wrong thing. I was doing a carrier brake at the end of the runway. When I checked the charts, at the airfield in question yo need to break over the middle of the runway. When I do this I don't get in trouble :smilewink: Edit: Just read over the post again, are you maybe referring to the trigger where I had to taxi back onto the runway to trigger the end mission?

I like it. Very cool. I am also a button box builder and I really like your screen idea. You 3D printing your stuff and you using a controller board or DCS BIOS? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk -
If you follow the advice in this thread and just keep practising, it does come. I was at my wits end with AAR and thought well I will be diverting to air fields the rest of my DCS career. Made a point to try AAR at least once a day, and spent an entire day on leave working on it. I am now confident enough to connect in one or two tries and stay connected the whole time. Log says I have 35 refuels under my belt. By no means do I have enough experience to give advice, but a couple things I make a point of now - keep my view centred. I recenter my tracker all the time, I find that if I have been looking at the tanker and then back it is not perfectly centred and that seems to hurt my poor brain. I only glance at the tanker, and never at the basket. Don't stress when the tanker calls break away, break away, ignore it and keep pushing in.
