As long as if it is AI it does not fly into a mountain or a tree :music_whistling:

Is there a specific Cockpit you are interested in? I had real crap graphics in the A-10C and loading a skin improved it almost 100%.

need help ! Air Refuelling how to keep contact ? speed
TechRoss replied to bin801's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Thanks.... Not using the auto modes to do the refueling, just kind seems to make the jet feel more stable, fly in it for about 10 seconds, then I disengage both modes and start walking the throttle. -

This is good advice and made a big difference last night. Did not get the tanker to extend the basket but flew a tank just watching the pod. It becomes a kind of pivot point. When I watch the tanker, the movements between my jet and it seem way bigger so I correct more. With the pod, I am just kinda pivoting around it. Not sure if it helps or not, but I battle with the trim, so last night I matched the taker speed on ATC and then used BARO to hold altitude. Gave the jet a little time and when I came out of both of those it seemed more stable. I was thinking maybe the jet sets the trim when trying to hold BARO. Hopefully tonight I can hit the basket. -
Wow, not got a very high spec system, and been playing the Hornet. Came back to the Hog and the cockpit looked like shit. I can not read a damn thing. Found this, and it changes the game for me. Absolutely fantastic. The A-10C feels like a new bird. I wish I had found this when I first got into DCS. I don't know how much work and effort you put into this, but that you so much for doing it, this really is tops. (This should be the default skin for the Hog in DCS)

Only got 3 but yes will do that thanks.

Sorry jumping in here, but you guys are saying it is possible to copy the DCS folder over to the new machine, run a cleanup and repair and carry on. (obviously saved games is a no brainer to save)

Yeah have had to put a concerted effort into trying to relax. I have a twist rudder and I find myself twisted to the left in a big way. I actually think I have damaged my stick as the left rudder is way looser then right twist now. :joystick: -
Congrats... in the same boat so following along.

The info in this thread is really helpful but still not getting the AAR. I have about 20 hours of practice in this, one hell of a stiff neck and sore arm from the tension and have only made contact about 6 times and managed to take fuel 4 times. I think I may have screwed myself a little, before I went for the refuel I worked on the formation part and flew with the tanker for hours in formation trying to get my sighting in, but I flew to close and to high so now I am always over the basket, and wonderful PIO follows shortly to try get back down. Do you guys trim out on the AAR? I know the Hornet is self trimming but when trying to get fuel, I feel it is not trimmed well. I will walk the throttle and push to move forward and just 1 knot and the plane will climb instantly, drop it back a little and down the nose goes. I tried flying it on the trim hat, but it does not seem to trim fast enough to fly it like that. -
I am on a very low spec machine and battle to see the HUD very well. Can not read any labels in the cockpit, I go from memory. I zoom close to the HUD which feels a little un real. If they get the A-10 to look like the Hornet it would be so cool. I miss the 30mm when flying the Hornet. Will pull a screen shot of each tomorrow for comparison. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Boy the cockpit needs work. I have been flying the FA-18C for a couple weeks, and over the weekend I was just frustrated so decided to hop in the trusty Hog and blow some shit up. I could not fly the jet. Bearing in mind I am on a very low spec system, but coming from the Hornet cockpit that I can read to not even being able to make out the HUD properly in the Hog. I don't actually know how I flew it with my old eyes in the past. I had to go on memory to remember what button does what and got spoiled in the Hornet being able to actually read the cockpit. Can't wait for ED to update the graphics in the Hog, it will be like a whole new jet and fun to get back into.

Been flying the same mission now for 2 days, probably about 14 to 15 hours trying to practice air to air refueling. Supper, no wind, 25 deg. At about 4pm today I updated to the latest patch and then flew the mission again. First time I am seeing the warning, so it must have came with the latest patch. Now weather or not it should be doing it is another story.

Love the seat, well the whole setup but the seat is interesting. I have been trying to find plans for a sim seat and see the aceII seems to the the way to go, there are not real complete plans for it. Is this what you used?

Nice setup you got happening there. I see you use a USB keypad. I tried this and it just mimicked the keypad on the full size keyboard. Were you able to get it mapped to other commands?

An F/A-18 Pilot’s thoughts on the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet
TechRoss replied to FightsOn's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Great post. Thanks for putting the time in. I think from what I have read the whole AOA on landing and dropping flaps etc is being worked on by EA. The trim display on the HUD would so help with this. My jet must look like a porpoise when I am landing till I get a hold of the trim and throttle. So you are happy with the throttle response? Others have commented they feel it is a little slow, almost like the jet has to much drag. -
The Hornet really is a easy jet to come to terms with except landing. I was procrastinating get it, don't get it, get it and eventually just got it. What a fantastic modual, you will be surprised at how user friendly it is..... Um until time to land. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

New to DCS, Need Help with Saitek X52 for A10C

finally got this working, had to map the Keys a little differently and went with N and B then mapped those in the game. Works like a charm now. -

Sorry to hijack, also a noob with a X52 Pro, got my stick setup the way I like but would like to add more with the rotary and sliders. I am trying to understand bands. I setup bands on the one slider 5% - 90% - 5% and want to use the for Airbrakes. Tried assigning shft-B and CTRL-B in the profile software, that didn't work and I cannot see how to use it in the sim.
