You could learn this from a more hands on practical approach http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/. Sounds ridicules but Arma2 is a great simulator this, and its is a way that you can better simulate more realistic ground battles. I don't know if it sounds silly to read it since you already have real experience. I like the way it reads and breaks down. Just my 2 cents.

I still don't have access to the Backer Forums
thinkr replied to droz's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Thank you for the info Lost. I pray ED hires more people so they can get more of the tedious tasks done at a smoother pace. That way they can focus on the game engine. Perhaps one day I will also be able to move the position of the controls indicator for my favorite FC3 aircraft so we can enjoy them more while we wait. Meanwhile I bought CA to support ED! Thank you:pilotfly: -
Which version of DCS does this campaign work best with? I ask because new bugs are introduced in new versions of DCS all the time and new versions have come out since this mission was first created... Would you suggest a Version that works best for this campaign? or does the Newest 1.2.8.27915 work well enough to complete all the features?

Cool Mod Man! Would be cool to have an MFD like this for Mi-8 and huey since the Kneeboard is terribly difficult to read with the Purple Markers. Could this be adopted to other modules like Mi-8 and Huey? I know Peter has helped this situation of the kneeboard with his mod but a MFD like this would be really neat if it didn't have FPS Hit... and could be exported from the game to dual monitors. or run by a second computer independent of the sim?

What DCS aircraft do you enjoy flying the most?
thinkr replied to Zakatak's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
My Answer Huey UH-1H - if it had a Sling Load that worked. Mi-8MTV2 - if it had a Sling Load that worked. SU-25/T - if it had Exports like Shikval avalible to multi-screen monitors. A10C - if it had F10 Map that would allow multi-screen setups to be set to one screen. P-51D - if there were other planes to fly against of that erra. Ka-50 - if the shikval sighting system didn't have so many problems ALL FC3 --- If the Exports worked, if they had AFM Migs Su-27 Su-33 I mostly fly Mi-8 since its newest. I've flown all the rest and enjoy them all from time to time. -
Exporting displays to another monitor- FC3

I would love the Shikval display in Su-25T to be exported that would be amazing:) -
What to buy Combined Arms or F-15C?
thinkr replied to TonyStovepipe's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Flaming Cliffs 3 way better value I bought it an love having all 7 planes to pick my battles with their all cool, there's always little bugs in all code, just ignore the complaining droves, you won't regret it if you love sims. Buying individual planes makes no sense at the price an for later. FC3 best choice! -
I figured it out thanks for the support. 1.2.8 didn't change much thought it did make it easier. Not much File Editing involved except set: DisableSnapViewsSaving = true Within this file: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\View\View.lua SnapViews.lua Gets automatically created by DCS in the C:\Users\[uSER]\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View Folder when you save a snap view. RCtrl+Num0 Changes snap views to "toggle" mode. Thanks for the help guys:thumbup:

I'm trying to configure multiple different Snap Views. The comments for Snapviews says. --reformatted per-unit data to be mod system friendly --this file is no longer should be edited for adding new flyable aircraft , DCS automatically check core database for this data(i.e. where you define your aircraft in aircraft table just define ViewSettings and SnapViews tables) -- result of ingame editing is saved to Saved Games/<USER>/DCS/Config/View/SnapViews.lua My question is there a button to press in dcs that will allow me to move the mouse and it tells me the following info for View angle etc... viewAngle = ?,--FOV hAngle = ?, vAngle = ?, x_trans = ?, y_trans = ?, z_trans = ?, rollAngle = ?, I found this old post from 1.2.4 but I don't want to have to do repair if DCS is setup to use the config file in User files... Although it answers my question of how to customize one. How does this differ in 1.2.8? It doesn't explain my questions http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105224&highlight=snap+views BTW: There is no info about SnapViews in the DCS World Manual. It would be nice to have this feature documented thank you.

Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“
thinkr replied to PeterP's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
We should have this added to the first post & make people read the whole thing before posting. The youtube vid is hilarious. Really in the first post needs a HOW TO ASK A QUESTION IN THIS THREAD TUTORIAL. This should start it. -
JazAero Please create a signature to tell us more info. With your hardware specs and your screen setups. Are you still using 1.2.5 or did you update to 1.2.8 I don't have Combined Arms so I can't help you with that specific problem.

2 Cockpit Seats - 2 Seperate Viewports - 2 Monitors?

Make TrackIR slower / precision mode with Zoom?
thinkr replied to Wizard1393's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's already a feature of Track IR 5.1 software just goto HOTKEYS and map a joystick button to Precision from the pull down bar. I have mine binded with my x52 extra paddle switches on the front as far as axis I don't think so. You might be better off using snapviews from the config files in DCS to get a zoom on the hood fixed for targeting. PeterP talked a lot about this. And it works well. Basically you bind a button on your joystick to jump to a fixed snap view of the hood zoomed in so you can target without Trackir bouncing around. I'll find you the link and post it. -
2 Cockpit Seats - 2 Seperate Viewports - 2 Monitors?
thinkr replied to thinkr's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Thx for your quote ShuRugal it makes sense now... two players locally flying the same helicopter. I don't expect to manage the controls of both. Just have both in viewports available. We could create a simple indicator to tell which seat is active. So seat switching would be in order. ie... you would still have to press 1 or 2 to manage the different controls this could all be easily manageable by an simple indicator to tell which seat is in use. It would also work nice for Huey even though weird it would be cool to have one seat view of cockpit pilot seat and one viewport for side door gunner. I'm sure this is all possible it just needs to be checked as a separate viewport for export I believe. Would be able to spot targets off to your 90 degrees easier;) Anyone else? If your asking my purpose the Mi-8 has a drift indicator on the pilot seat and copilot seat has the coordinates it would be nice to view both viewports from my 2 screens at the same time. or even pick what seats I want to view. My hope is this would be easy to program but truly I don't know. -
Right now as it is with my setup I have 2 screens with the Mi8 there are 3 cockpit positions. Setups option:1 Would it be possible to setup DCS to send viewport from cockpit seat 1 to monitor-1 and viewport from cockpit seat 2 to monitor-2? Or option:2 would it be more practical to just spread the seat 3 viewport across 2 monitors? I think the angles are better for option 1 is this possible?:joystick:

DCS 1.2.8 Mi-8MTV2 SAR Competition (SAR Pilots training)
thinkr replied to airwar's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight

DCS 1.2.8 Mi-8MTV2 SAR Competition (SAR Pilots training)
thinkr replied to airwar's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
You must find this LZ at the map (F10) and make VFR/IFR Flight Plan? Ok I get how to see coordinates on F10 map but how do I make a flight plan and how do I get degrees on compass to head toward coordinates? Does anyone have a video of this? 1. I see Co-Pilot has coordinates and path panel on the front dash but I don't understand how to use it? Does it work? 2. Do I only use F10? -

Add me to your list for future reference. Too bad I will be in Denver at that time for my accordion lesson. I can be on Sunday. BTW I'm running Standard 1.2.8.27203, or should I install the BETA DCS 1.2.8.27529 since there are a few good Mi-8 fixes... TeamSpeak info? -

Cannot switch to Right or Left Gunner Position 1.2.8
thinkr posted a topic in Missions and Campaigns
Cannot switch to Right or Left Gunner Position 1.2.8 Is this a known issue? I have checked and remapped the keys it does not work in training missions. Did DCS Repair did not fix the issue. Training Mission tested was Weapons Employment Also tested with updated training missions did not work.
