Whats LOD mate ?

I get constant ground terrain stutter when flying low and looking around in different angles, maybe it is some kind of FOV issue. Does the FOV change when panning around ? The terrain movement changes just like when zooming in or out. For me it seems the game can´t handle the different terrain speeds that quick and that may cause the ugly microstutter. And YES to one of the former postings: We need a game fix and no other modules.

This week I got a new 4k screen and the game was tested over and over with all kinds of settings, resolutions, nvidia tweaking, different missions, task manager on and off, gpu software on and off, nothing in the background, just DCS. Vsync on and off, fullscreen yes and no, latest windows update, latest DCS update. I have a clean system that only runs DCS on a SSD and OS on another SSD, 8700k, 32 GB Ram at 3200 and on top a 1080ti. I can honestly say: Advising 32GB ram or upgrading CPU or GPU to people with less money to spend is absolute madness, it will NOT help !!! It will not run like other titles, this game remains a mystery. Right now I spend more time trying to fix the issues with DCS than enjoying my flight time. In all honesty, right now I am very very disappointed with my purchases. Not keen on another module. Even Matt Wagners Vids stutter ...

Be aware son, 8700k, 1080ti and 32 gb ram on a 55inch 4k oled lg here and the game is on its absolute limits. Had to turn down settings and disable AA. Edges look very ugly without AA. I can run a stable 60fps but no shadows or I get stutters from time to time, mostly because of forrest and buildings. Take a 1440p in a decent size and save yourself the troubles

if it stutters it stutters, new drivers, high performance, etc won't help. just my experience. got a 8700k, 1080ti, 32 gb ram, since yesterdays update stutter. couds, forrest and cities give me stutter. bad optimized period. 4k resolution here....

Nevada is kind of unfinished, there are missing textures in the map, I really wish they would finish the map and get rid of the blurry and washed out look. No interest in just flying in the centre of NTTR.

Come on ED, please fix those flickering issues with the Mig 15, I adore her.

If one is all in for pure simulation, FC 3 won't bring it. Nice planes sure, but once you've seen the other side there is no going back.

I do not recomend FC 3, buy a full fidelity aircraft and never look back. My opinion may be pretty exclusive but I never went back to the FC3 modules. Just my two cents. F5 is ok but it gets boring pretty quick. And I like that aircraft a lot ... The in cockpit sound just doesn't make me feel I am flying a jet. Top notch module though, money well spent. The L-39 I just bought because of all the rave here in the forum. Damn is she a blast to fly. Do not underestimate the slower planes. Probably the most underrated plane in DCS. Perfection ! The in cockpit sound is awesome. The Mig 21 is in the same league, everything shakes, fast as f**k, beautiful looking and if you brought her home save you have done a hell of a job. Even a takeoff can be scary. Tier one plane in DCS, brutal, ugly, fat and old. Mig 15 is loved by everyone, beautiful done, gives great feeling flying such an old lemon. I hate all that trimming though. Starts easy, lands easy. Wish there were more liveries. No regrets that I bought it. Hornet is the new king, flies like on rails, massive power, slow turning in perfection. Good looking and easy to start and land. I mean REALLY easy ... Not much into weapons right now but there are lots to try out. Expensive ! Su 27, Su 33 and Mig 29 don't get any flight time anymore. No full fidelity modules as of now, regret buying them. Maybe they get a future upgrade and who knows, maybe it will be free for the owners.

That is what we need to find out. Try non dynamic weather settings vs dynamic. Heavy cloudy days vs no clouds at all. No time yet but will try soon. It just looks like dynamic weather settings run better ...

Cool :-)) Now we just have to create a heavy cloudy sky just with dynamic weather. I mostly get some clouds or full overcast sky. And I will try the default aka left non dynamic weather option with NO wind and NO clouds. NO turbulences NADA. If we get hicups and short freezes there it is maybe not related to the cloud system. Anyone a clue where to report this to the devs so they can have a look at it ?

it is in the mission editor, left side there are tabs. think it is the third from top. when you click it you have the option of default or dynamic weather. just use dynamic weather and put two or three systems in it. try and report back

Those occasional stutters every two minutes or so are caused when using the left (custom) weather page. Try setting up dynamic weather (right side) and those hicups are gone. At least for me. Think it is related to the clouds. Most of the time it is hard to get a cloudy or heavy overcast sky with the dynamic weather option. I slowly get the feeling that the left weather options which one can customize with clouds, rain, etc. are using a different engine so to speak. It's maybe like plane goes to point A, weather will be like that here, hicup ! Maybe it is just the clouds causing those random hicups ...

I too get flickering and pop up clouds, no vr just 2d. 1080 ti 8700k, all high end. If I put clouds into a mission I get random hicups every two minutes or so. Dynamic weather seems fine, hard to create heavy cloudy weather though. Maybe thats why dynamic weather runs better. And for the life of me I can't eliminate those slight stuttering that occurs when you look out your window in an certain angle. Low level, about 45 degrees its microstuttering. Grrrrr :-(

Thanks for the info, I just fly single player with no weapons. What I found out is that I get that random hiccups when using the left weather option. When I put some clouds into my mission, rain, snow, etc. I get that hiccups. When I use dynamic weather its absolutely fluent and hiccup free. I think its because it is difficult to get heavy cloudy weather in the dynamic setting. For my end I really think its the clouds that gives me that hefty stutter every two minutes or so. There is so much going on with those clouds ... They pop up, change shape all of sudden, they throw weird shadows ...

On my 8700k, 32gb, 1080 ti rig there are clouds that just pop up, mostly in distance but sometimes near by. Same goes for shadows. Is that normal in 2.5.2 ?

One week stutter free now they appear again. I changed NOTING, really NOTHING lol. Sometimes it runs sometimes not.
