There were more upgrades to the Hornet yes but the timeframe these two jets went into service is pretty much the same.

If you ask for BVR Handicap, the Mirage has a disadvantage against the Hornet there. The range of the Super 530 Radar misile is pretty short and not fire and forget. An Amraam has a greater kill range and is to some extend fire and forget if I remember correctly. Our dogfight testings between those two showed that the Mirage is a beast and very hard to beat in a Hornet. For me right now only Mirage, sexy, fast, see it as a european F 16 just almost 5 years younger.

Think there is no need of changing the head tracking profile, it needs to be fixed by the developers. Happens in P 51, Tomcat and Viggen too. Most aircraft don't allow head outside canopy glass. It is simply a bug that occured in one of the last updates.

It is a bug and a problem, going back to spectator slot with hear like in helmet on kills our ears. It is not only nerve wracking, it is just plane dangerous.

going back to spectators is killing us, it is so darn loud and we can hardly hear each other. this needs to be fixed, we damage our hearing.

What we are trying to say is in a BFM dogfight it doesn't matter, full fidelity or not. The aircraft is ready to go, engines are running, systems are up. It is just about mastering the Hotas and the weapons then. What buttons do you click in the F 14 with your mouse during a dogfight ? None ! BVR is a different story, lots of system management required but in a knife fight you only need throttle, stick and rudder. The F 15 PFM is great, the F 14 model seems even more detailed and harder to fly, I got to give this one to you. But don't forget the Eagle had already some fly by wire, kind of so to speak.

F 14 has better turn than the F 15, I was wrong on that in my first post. Especially in those slow downward spirals the Tomcat is a beast. Another observation: guns only the F 15 can do the vertical stuff no problem, with heat seakers it's getting hairy for the Eagle. Doesn't matter how good you climb, a sidewinder can catch you no matter if you have better energy.

We tested the F 14 against the F 5, F 18 and the F 15. F 14 was flown by two of the most talented virtual pilots I came across. The F 15 beats the Tomcat in almost every aspect, better climb, better acceleration, even turns better. Visibility in cockpit is better too. No full fidelity module so take that with a grain of salt. The F 5 is a joke, no match for the Tomcat. Looses energy way to quick. It can't really turn tighter, the better roll rate doesn't help much eather. Sadly no competition for the F 14. Think in real life it is a better adversary to the Tomcat. It should give the modern jets a good run for their money. Tomcat vs F 18 is a good one ! Cat has better thrust, Hornet is easier to fly (by wire). If the F 14 sticks to the vertical game it is hard to beat. Slow turn handling and low energy states is where the Hornet shines. Fly by wire has pros and cons. The F 18 just isn't going to do crazy things on you but you can't ask for more in some situations eather. All in all, F 14 vs F 18 perfect doghfight match. Lots of fun !

I too have massive problems with the 109 view. It's like a lottery when turning your head back and forth. I gave up, DCS WWII is dead anyway. Every Normandy server is empty, Burning Skies is like the groundhog day ... In the P 51 I can now stick my head through the canopy glass, breathtaking !

Can anyone give me a heads up on the F 15 please, didn't read the whole thread. Is it confirmed ? What version do we get ? Estimated release date ? Thx

Maybe the last patch brought this issue, P 51, Viggen, now Tomcat. Never had this with the 51 before. For me it's imersion killing and needs a fix.

You are not alone Dejau, the server usually runs on open beta, sometimes it takes a day or two for eekz, the server host to make the changes. This combined with a new DCS update every week or so makes the whole situation pretty anoying for us. Get used to it :-)
