how does "old tub" equate to that? :)

How about, all lets not drag this thread into another supposed "visibility issue" thread?????? There's a new engine coming, which looks promising in more than one area, so there's no point in continually hassling... the prior couple of posts look good and a sense of community returning

well; you'll just have to learn patience young Padiwan

x52 pro with new rig = problems

some motherboards won't detect USB_3 devices until after boot and the USB_3 driver is loaded... considering USB_3 is meant to be backward compatible with USB_2 -
good advice, but doing that to an Intel reference Z77 chipset board will cause non boot... such a finicky chipset it is best to disable the function in the registry, taking great care to get it right (that way, if the throttling is required it is still there, but the processor will always have all cores functioning instead of just acting as one expanding CPU) research, read, re-read, backup, and then do it.. as a general advice for any who would consider the option and it does make a difference

Set Anisoptropic and Antialiasing to Application Controlled...

you left the link out ;)

well, you http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1670989&postcount=58 just keep holding your breath superostrich... Thor... there is a perfectly good "example" video posted, and what - you haven't bothered to view it/ it doesn't fit with your argument?... what is your point? is your "point" you just want a gimmick?? Winz... The "problems" with current technology have been pointed out many many times... yes, even by me - do you have something new to offer?
-
either way... the threats of "holding one's breath until they have achieved their way" - just ask any parent what usually happens :)

@ Shagrat... you haven't noticed (and obviously haven't looked at the video... yet, you could say you have, but I doubt very much you have) the target is "light" against the ground and "dark" against the sky... all your hi-falutery about 1x pixel/ 4x pixel is a herring.. a red one at that. It (DCS) already goes out to 1x pixel... all Flight Sims do no Skendzie... only some do and "fun" is for PS/ Xbox, realism is for DCS
-
following on from silentconvo... Why? ... dunno One thing for sure... a (real world) target certainly isn't going to stand there and wiggle its cheeks at ya @ Shagrat... just have a look at the example video - its fine - no need to keep hassling for "scaling", just a need for the player to learn how to go about it, would be the go
-
here's a reasonable example (I hope the originating author doesn't mind)
-
yess... but this is a DCS forum, and it would be of value to see how it all plays out, considering the thread title and problems mentioned. Something to keep in mind for next time, perhaps? just sayin'

luminance comes from more a 3D (in a 3D vision, as opposed 3D projected onto a 2D screen) environment... not an artificially bland background and Airfix model like object lighting

Take a deep breath, slow down and re-read the post Kuky - and again with great respect to you, you've missed the point/s entirely
-
That's the hard part there Kuky, and with great respect far off track... The best FoV is the game/ sim's default FoV. Adjusting the FoV to wider or narrowerer creates a distortion... wider distorts to objects looking further away and going narrow makes them look closer than they really are. This is something, again with respect, you off all people should be aware of. You talk about "real FoV". isn't this just adjusting the default to a narrow 28 degrees or so? "Zoom" does the same thing, (it doesn't magnify the image) it narrows the FoV from the default... so when you say it is cheating to zoom... you're in the same boat. Also keep in mind, pilots did carry and use binoculars... though I doubt very much they flew with them strapped to their helmet/ goggles - http://www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/blog/aircraft-binoculars-for-inside-a-plane-01/ - http://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-1972840-stock-footage-atlantic-ocean-circa-world-war-ii-u-s-naval-pilot-in-cockpit-with-binoculars.html ?

and out comes the very old now cries of "troll"... I'm sorry OnlyforDCS, but if you don't like the opinions of those who don't agree with you, that is your problem... perhaps, a mirror could be held up to your cries? if you bother to actually read through the thread, OnlyforDCS, and not just jump in on a knee jerk reaction... you may just gleen some insight to you question
-
@ Only for DCS... actually... the "polls" don't really speak for anyone, except those who press the button in them, and so many haven't (and some might have a few goes at pressing the button) I don't, or wouldn't express it in terms of "cheating"... god forbid that anyone would "cheat". "Cheating"?, never happens (sarcasm intended :) ) - there are quite a few who would take unfair advantage of flaws and limitations though... I can see your point of view there Shagrat, really I can... but it is a proposition which does leaves things open to abuse (by those who would). Seriously... you'd need everybody on the same size monitor, the same resolution and the same FoV. As soon as things become interchangeable, the problems become apparent as they say; what people do on their own personal machine in their own home offline, is their business... knock yourselves out. The problem is fair play online - that's where the buzz, the competition is.

6nm is about 11km... most seem to think 5 - 8 km (8km = 4.3nm) is max you, I assume) do understand that LoD, is Level of Detail and it is set by insim distance... some sims have three levels, some 5 another (iirc) ran 10, and the further away the object is (determined by level) the less and less detail it has... which goes back to hardware/ technology
-
how is "normal LoD" obtained out of two pixels? Perhaps, it might help if you would define your "normal LoD"? and thank you, finally, for your answer... what really is wanted though, is solutions which don't give advantage to those who game the game?
