  1. that's true... NVidia does the same thing - need to select CUSTOM, and untick the bloatware
  2. Sightly incorrect... the human eye does have a wide angle of view in total, but only a very small amount of that, about 3° or so is able to use as focus, as in reading the dials, text, looking at a photo, etc The peripheral vision, so many mention, is unfocused and senses only movement, provided awareness (meaning how that peripheral vision is brought to play) is used and respectfully, therein lay the bug bear
  3. @Thor... all you have to do is look, ol' mate... PM sent -
  4. "Vast majority" is a vast exageration and revisit Twitch streams ;)
  5. @ Raptorsim... I understand they are the CCC settings, and not In Game settings... can they be turned off? if set off, does that make a difference?
  6. what you have there is shuddering (slightly different to stutter)... happens when the ground is primarily moving across the screen left to right?
  7. Looking forward to it as well :) and I do hope enough information of the right kind comes to hand to make it a worthwhile to proceed with believable product... Its also one of the WWII era birds I've always admired the lines of - it sure does look purty
  8. wasn't aware DCS used OpenGL or Tesselation?
  9. @ Crummp... I understand where you're coming from, but the solution to solve a "problem" some had was delivered, it is an elegant solution albeit (remembering the words which came with the announcement of the solution: We don't understand why anyone would want to see targets outside of real world visual range - but if that's what floats your boat, now you will be able to". Forcing the solution On or Off in servers is a natural progression... the also natural response to that will be "if ya don't like (on or off) don't fly on that server. It'll end up being realistic servers and air quake with visibility icons set to large servers
  10. Thanks - already had.... this is just a courtesy note
  11. Just watched Star Trek: Into darkness... don't know what it is about you JJ Abrams... but kudos to your talent Sir!
  12. okay... what you need to do, is move the install to a separate Hard Drive, or set the root folder /security/ Users to Full Permissions. It means you probably have DCS installed to C drive/ Program Files?
  13. Might pay to check FTP #1 USA Mirror regarding .Bin.2a of the current DCS:World from the DCS download site... it delivers an incmplete download at 900Mb. Running the .exe indicates; "Could not complete: incomplete/ corrupt source file"
  14. Hmmm... maybe there's some way of putting both together? :) and an awfully big man-cave to go with it
  15. can do the sudden stop of a lawn dart and carrier catapult/ catch wire whiplash though ;)
  16. The Ulitimate Simulator...
  17. That really would be a question for the FT developer ?
  18. ^ and that's a very good question...
  19. This is why the reference to the actual distinctions keeps being posted up every so often... just as reminder to what is what Said elsewhere... EFM is outside of ED "Quality Control" and only uses a part of ED's "PFM" Flight Model maker thingy - so, in that, the 3rd party may get close (to ED), they may not. It just depends on what genuine data, how much they research the data they have access to and how much work they want to put into their product Quite simply: SFM = not much effort and/ or ability, for whatever reason > insert your own here < AFM = a bit more effort and/ or ability, for whatever reason > insert your own here < EFM = external to ED developer and comprising a lot more effort and ability, might be close to ED (PFM) effort, might not - but, could also be in the realm of SFM or AFM ( 3rd party should state this clearly - if it's not one, its the other) PFM = ED in house development and the full blown effort and ability this is just very simplistic, and not meant to reflect on any party, but an EFM should never be likened to PFM purely for reasons of the FM being developed by ED or a 3rd party to ED Right or wrong, I also believe pricing controls and length of "open-beta" and "we'll bring in the promised next level", etc, should be set by ED
  20. It depends on "how" that is gone about though... in earlier sims, it was quite possible set a convergence which totally unrealistic - "laser" cannons and "Umbrella" machine guns It was just phenominal :)
  21. .
  22. yep, my x58, bought when the series was first released, is only just now starting to go wonky
  23. its really quite clear as it was... just takes refreshing now and then to clear out the muddied up river not "putting words into your mouth", sorry to say... I'm supporting your point
  24. The below is provided to explain the various fidelity levels of flight dynamics and cockpit systems modeling available in our various DCS aircraft simulation products. We provide this to you to help better understand what your are purchasing: Standard Flight Model (SFM). This has not changed and defines a more data-driven means of achieving flight dynamics, in conjunction with some scripting. SFM was used in the Lock On series and is still used in the Flaming Cliffs 3 Su-33 and MiG-29. However, we do plan to update these at a later time. Advanced Flight Model (AFM) and AFM+. An AFM uses multiple points of force application and calculation on the relevant flight surfaces. This simulates edge of envelope conditions well and avoids scripted behaviors as used in an SFM. This system also partially implements the aircraft's flight augmentation systems. DCS aircraft that use AFM includes the Su-25T. A further evolution of the AFM is what we term the AFM+ and this uses the same calculations as AFM but adds limited modeling of the hydraulic and fuel systems. Examples of AFM+ in DCS include the Su-25 and A-10A. Professional Flight Model (PFM). This is generations beyond an AFM/AFM+ and is based upon: • Use a wider array of wind tunnel tests CFD methods for aerodynamics parameters calculations. • A higher level of aircraft construction details for forces calculations. For example: our landing gear model includes individual kinematics of retracting/extending is used to calculate its movement, servo-piston forces, etc. In such cases, we truly use real lengths, arms, etc. This also includes such items as a realistic simulation of airflow along the airframe due to the propeller or helicopter rotor thrust. • Realistic simulation of Flight Control, CAS and Autopilot systems. • Realistic simulation of Hydraulics, Fuel, Electrical, Engine and other systems influence flight characteristics. • Unprecedented access to test data packs. This is combined with much more detailed and accurate accounting of the physical forces on the aircraft and airfoils. DCS examples of the PFM include the A-10C, Ka-50, P-51D, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, F-15C and Su-27 (in development) for DCS Flaming Cliffs, and the Fw190-D9 (in development). External Flight Model (EFM). Used by our partner developers, the EFM uses only a part of PFM - rigid body physics and contact model. What forces and moments are applied to this rigid body from aerodynamics and any other sources except the contact forces is up to EFM developer. Standard Systems Modeling (SSM). A DCS module using SSM is characterized as including just the most essential cockpit systems and using keyboard and joystick commands only to interact with the cockpit. Examples of SSM in DCS include all of the Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft. Advanced Systems Modeling (ASM). An ASM enabled aircraft goes into great depth to model the intricacies of the various cockpit systems, to include functionality for almost all the buttons, switches, dials, etc. A key element of an ASM cockpit is the ability to interact with it using your mouse. ASM DCS examples include the A-10C, Ka-50, P-51D, UH-1H and Mi-8MTV2. In the coming weeks, we will be updating our store pages to use these product definitions. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 now is it clear?
  25. EFM, is not PFM... simple stuff, (AFM/SFM is the shallow end of the pool offering) check for yourself :)
