  1. here's one to take a moment out with...
  2. ..as well as hiding behind (line of sight to target) a building/ object... presenting through the flight panel/ fuselage, etc yes, Labels occlusion is something which definitely could be looked at
  3. MS offer a telephone activation service... at install/ activation, call the number shown, punch in the production key into through the phone and key the code given that into the slot and the activation screen your current product key (at least for Windows7, I haven't used XP for so long I don't recall there) should show up on the system listing... Control Panel/ System
  4. not if they're camouflaged... its not how it works ;) some just won't accept the distortion (things go further away than what they really are) inducing wide FoV is causing them their problems, for the most
  5. not really a move, but the TV series reboot and miniature models, landscape with CGI chracters instead of strings ( + a few other nice touches) ... they nailed it :) kudos (though not the original music was used )
  6. I have to agree there... perhaps even a CJ Block 50 :) fpr the WWII aircraft, I would like whatever is still available in the museums, etc, to be brought into the DCS world... preferably by DCS
  7. http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/9/8373533/dolby-cinema-amc-prime-movie-theater-laser-projector could be a game changer (pun intended) :)
  8. personally, I'd like to see the "Dam Busters" and the "Pathfinders" for The Allies, and also some Axis bombers which flew havoc over London. Fully realising that The Pacific (PTO) will quite ways off... some "Doolittle Raiders" (plus CV-8 ;) ) and some "Betty's" :)
  9. 3rd party planes for DCS have EFM (External Flight Model), whilst planes made by DCS feature the PFM (Professional Flight Model). http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 - just for clarity belsimtek, seem to be working in co-operation with DCS and run the PFM certainly, there are some very good goodies on sale atm...
  10. well... the Golden Rule usually, is to not run any other program in the background DCS use two cores, one for the sim, the second for the sim sound; and your Operating System, plus anything else running, wants in there as well
  11. Uninstall/ reinstall (you can't just cut/ paste) into the custom folder is possible and probably the better and easier option, better still is to install onto a separate Drive altogether (E:\ for instance) or... right click on the Eagle Dynamics Folder, select Security tab, click the Edit button, click on Users in the top window and tick the Full Control tick box (Modify and Write should tick themselves) press apply and wait while it goes through the process
  12. try giving the DCS root folder (looks like you have installed into the default C:\ Program Files folder, instead of a user made folder outside of the Program Files folder... eg C:\ My Games\ ) Full Permissions Open mission in the editor and save again
  13. and thus, the point is made... your "normal" is already wider than default (you get your SA from team work and learning to put your head on swivel, whilst keeping your plane level) apart from all that, you're chopping and changing, and twisting the words of others around... ie - you're just arguing for the sake of arguing (and yes, for a FPS ;) )
  14. yes, and as mentioned earlier, you definitely do seem to be talking about LoD, and too bad about the labels not being left on thing.... People seem to be demanding the "scaling" feature (and I say "feature" because they really don't seem interested in an overall "fix", they just seem to want a fps with wings) for way before LoD transitioning occurs, and they want it at an outrageously wide FoV the video posted up (showing the gnats around the carrier) is quoted in-video as "approx. 15km away", and also appears to be hazy. They're made to look larger than they really are.
  15. The "remember me" tick box works... thanks :) just got to remember to log out
  16. Not much point in just offering to post it across, is it in English?... hopefully it will generally accessible, for verification? well, we won't know that until it arrives, will we (so try not to go setting yourself/ s up for a fall due to over realised expectations... and "possibly still" the same basic hardware issues and bad habits will be present - possibly
  17. no... that was the problem... all dots appeared at the same distance, then transitioned. all this hoping for a "fix" is pointless though with EDGE on the horizon, as we've yet to see what that will bring
  18. then you're talking about something completely different, which is probably LoD (of which il2, iirc, ran only 3 levels) and you've got your Dotrange at 20 (the distance at which a plane, any plane (in dot form) would become visible, where ingame default was, I think 14 and you've said yourself earlier that 8 ~10km was realistic...
  19. The server hosting an on-line game now has an ability to set distances at which the plane icons will be visible. The command syntax is: mp_dotrange [FRIENDLY|FOE] [DEFAULT] [RANGE ] [TYPE ] [iD ] [NAME ] FRIENDLY of FOE keywords define as to what party the following parameters apply - the aircraft of the viewer's army, or the aircraft of the hostile armies. The following keys define the distance the appropriate icon effect is enabled at: COLOR - the distance the icon takes the color of the inbound plane's army at. Icons farther than that are drawn in grey. DOT - how far the 'dot' plane marker is visible. RANGE - how far to draw the distance numbers in the icon. TYPE - how far the airplane model or model family is visible. ID - how far the tactical number is visible. NAME - how far the aircraft's pilot name is visible (if it is driven by a human pilot). mp_dotrange DEFAULT restores the Il-2 pre-defined icon set-up. the setting affected all equally
  20. iirc, the setting affected all objects equally and it is 90% of poll responders
  21. Actually, it is the way to analyse/ problem solve :music_whistling: :joystick:
  22. to say: is completely misleading Skendzie, because you are basing that on the number of "flyers" who have responded to the poll. I'm sure there are many more "flyers" than the 400appr. that's the real problem with "polls" because unless everybody responds, a true indication cannot be obtained. Sure, some fancy extrapolating can be manipulated from any given result, the fact is, no-one can take that which hasn't responded and say it like this or like that. You're making an assumption that the monitor size/ res has nothing to do with "the discussion"... what is really needed is a clear picture of what monitor, size, resolution/ colour space, etc and if they bothered to calibrate their monitor at all, as well what vga card they have and how the properties of those are set, which people are running and from there those who do and don't have problems
  23. it appears to be making distant objects temporarily artificially larger.. which can throw off the distance to target
  24. Actually Skendzie, it is quite relevant and it has been brought up by others... so, if you would like to give them a serve as well perhaps? You seem to be all for "scaling"... its old tech and won't solve the "problem". How did arrive at your figure of 90%? may I ask what monitor you're running, and at what resolution , as well, what your FoV is?
  25. ------------------------------- err, what I said was... if you can ID a King Air, at the distance you quoted.... and in the shot, you see what being used Homes Fries? yes, they be binoculars... tracking dogfighting aircraft 1/2 the distance out from what you quoted
