  1. and matching carriers :)
  2. Core Parking works in a way that has cores 1 ~3 (on a 4 core CPU for example) resting until activity on Core 0 exceeds 60%, at which point, Core 1 will wake up... when core 0 and Core 1 is active and activity on Core 1 reaches 60%, Core 2 will wake up... etc, etc and so forth Core Parking seems to only be effected by Hyperthreading being activated, and not applicable on a single (naturally) or dual core CPU, iiuc
  3. lets not muddy the waters (again)... The below is provided to explain the various fidelity levels of flight dynamics and cockpit systems modeling available in our various DCS aircraft simulation products. We provide this to you to help better understand what your are purchasing: Standard Flight Model (SFM). This has not changed and defines a more data-driven means of achieving flight dynamics, in conjunction with some scripting. SFM was used in the Lock On series and is still used in the Flaming Cliffs 3 Su-33 and MiG-29. However, we do plan to update these at a later time. Advanced Flight Model (AFM) and AFM+. An AFM uses multiple points of force application and calculation on the relevant flight surfaces. This simulates edge of envelope conditions well and avoids scripted behaviors as used in an SFM. This system also partially implements the aircraft's flight augmentation systems. DCS aircraft that use AFM includes the Su-25T. A further evolution of the AFM is what we term the AFM+ and this uses the same calculations as AFM but adds limited modeling of the hydraulic and fuel systems. Examples of AFM+ in DCS include the Su-25 and A-10A. Professional Flight Model (PFM). This is generations beyond an AFM/AFM+ and is based upon: • Use a wider array of wind tunnel tests CFD methods for aerodynamics parameters calculations. • A higher level of aircraft construction details for forces calculations. For example: our landing gear model includes individual kinematics of retracting/extending is used to calculate its movement, servo-piston forces, etc. In such cases, we truly use real lengths, arms, etc. This also includes such items as a realistic simulation of airflow along the airframe due to the propeller or helicopter rotor thrust. • Realistic simulation of Flight Control, CAS and Autopilot systems. • Realistic simulation of Hydraulics, Fuel, Electrical, Engine and other systems influence flight characteristics. • Unprecedented access to test data packs. This is combined with much more detailed and accurate accounting of the physical forces on the aircraft and airfoils. DCS examples of the PFM include the A-10C, Ka-50, P-51D, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, F-15C and Su-27 (in development) for DCS Flaming Cliffs, and the Fw190-D9 (in development). External Flight Model (EFM). Used by our partner developers, the EFM uses only a part of PFM - rigid body physics and contact model. What forces and moments are applied to this rigid body from aerodynamics and any other sources except the contact forces is up to EFM developer. Standard Systems Modeling (SSM). A DCS module using SSM is characterized as including just the most essential cockpit systems and using keyboard and joystick commands only to interact with the cockpit. Examples of SSM in DCS include all of the Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft. Advanced Systems Modeling (ASM). An ASM enabled aircraft goes into great depth to model the intricacies of the various cockpit systems, to include functionality for almost all the buttons, switches, dials, etc. A key element of an ASM cockpit is the ability to interact with it using your mouse. ASM DCS examples include the A-10C, Ka-50, P-51D, UH-1H and Mi-8MTV2. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801
  4. Well then and sadly, DirectInput (or whatever it is called) is getting in your way then.... Sticks etc must have an OFF STATE, buttons must have an OFF position so the input can actually determine which button is being pressed for its assigning. If that is not to your liking... get the programmer for the hardware, learn how to use it and knock yourself out - dyfhw
  5. the equivalent down here is the Boxing Day sales (the second Christmas).... take your life into your hands venturing into one
  6. A noble thought indeed... the bugbear though, is not everyone would like, or feel is right, the way it would be presented though - you know, the old " I don't want that function on that button... I want that function it on this button" dilemma. I don't mean to sound negative to the idea, but it does open up a new line of upsets
  7. was posted in local current time 11/22 09:00AM ETS (Assuming Eastern Standard Time - US) -5 UTC/ GMT is 23/11 01:00 AEDT (Assuming Australian Eastern Daylight time AUS) +11 UTC/GMT allowing for Daylight Savings...
  8. maybe advising of the start/ end date/ times in UTC (GMT) might help?
  9. okay... I'll revisit it and check it out :)
  10. higher also helps alleviate mouse input lag ;) Nice read Haukka  the other bit involved in the 24fps selected for movies was; it was the slowest speed at which frame by frame motion became (mostly) fluid to the eye, balanced with cost of film stock and the least amount of per foot needed. (ie 30 frames per second uses 25% more feet of stock than 24 frames per second does)
  11. Nvidia card and been that way for ages... stops the choppy a slightly higher FrameRate ..............` Have you tried disabling the Creative Audio temporarily from within the Device Manager?
  12. AntiAliasing and Anisotropic, both, need to be set Application Controlled in the vga control panel
  13. if your Windows 7 on an SSD is seemingly a bit laggy, you might find you need to run the TRIM function. Alternatively, you something running the background which is sapping resources, and along these lines, the DCS installed file path and having or not having (depending) the root folder set to full permissions also plays a part in performance... Also, there's no need to run the Page File disabled on Windows 7 (and higher) it does a fine job. Just leave at the default setting (The disabled/ fixed size Page File setting was only really ever effective with Windows XP (and earlier Isn't MANTLE just an AMD attempt at an alternative to DirectX? Smoke has always been a problem, and some have reported a problem with clouds... airports have a lot of buildings which have hitboxes/ collision detection contained within them
  14. A silly thought... but double check you have the correct aircraft selected in the Options/ Controls drop down window before assigning/ checking
  15. Read the description for the setting in the Control Panel and understand that the current DCS is software which developed quite a while ago. On Auto, the setting still tries to "sort it out"
  16. the mirrors are a rendering in another smaller window, so to speak... you've got the big screen, your monitor, and then there a some smaller screens contained within - same as for the TGP, etc. a tip, I've mentioned many times before for NVidia users (and as I don't run an AMD vga, I'm not sure the setting is applicable), that is turn to OFF the option of Threaded Optimisation... do not leave it on AUTO in the card's settings Control Panel
  17. lol... the arrows need to be a brighter neon colour, and flash :)
  18. dunno... is there a Brightness setting in the HUD menu?
  19. looks like it does make a difference
  20. in a way, yes... it does matter this end, my warthog/ animation is fine...
  21. What is your joystick?
  22. One thing to try, as unexciting as it may be, could be to reset all your control assigns back to default and check if the basics are working correctly. If they are, very carefully go through and change assignments as necessary checking each one as you go. The aircraft selection drop down, needs to be approached carefully... don't want to change assignments for a version or different aircraft than the one you are wanting to at the time Also, could you let us know what joystick/ throttle/ pedals you are running, as well as your computer's specs?
  23. Its the other way 'round... the version used by and now likely to be forever associated with that particular party who did so in the 30's/ 40's and their adherents since, is in the anti-clockwise aspect. The tips of the spinning " + " leave a trail
