As owner of Normandy 1.0 am I owner of 2.0?
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: Normandy 2.0
I'd rather have winter textures, winter Temps, and winter weather for Normandy. As DCS has no Central Europe or Baltic region . -

So I have to plunk down $70 for another Normandy. No $10 upgrade as I enjoyed with A-10CII and BSIII? Normandy and Channel are really great terrains for NOE helicopter flight. Also, to a limited extent, if you mentally rotate map by 45 to 60 degrees it resembles central Baltic area . Sort of. But only Chanell supports snow and cold Temps. Normandy is limited to late spring, summer, and early fall weather of that part of Europe. -
As owner of Normandy 1.0 am I owner of 2.0? The Normandy map does show London and Paris. Is this 2.0 or enhanced 1.0?

I beleived that waypoint offsets are used as tactical tool for weapon release and navigation corrections due to weather. Like phaselines in ground combat. But my understanding came up short. So I humble myself and ask ; What is , officially, a waypoint offset. Why does it exist, and why do we use it?

I noticed that MANPADS AI is sometimes affected by weather (i.e. visibility) sometimes not. Both IGLA and Stinger AI. Do the nighttime MANPADS have IR scope (aside from seeker), or are they getting queing from same-side SR/EW radar? Or are AI MAN_ADS strictly line of sight?

NATOPS, I beleive, are not written in stone. Regs to evolve. In the issue I brought up, turned out to be a non-issue. Matter of handedness. Port wing station need left handed orientation of munitions, and srbd station needs right handedness. To allow safe clearance for separation of munition. Either JDAM or AIM-9M. I imagine that there may be others, unknown to us or RAZBAM , to extend life of airframe, or reduce risk. The matter of handedness is really, IMHO, is an armorer issue, not mission planner's. It becomes pilot's issue during pre-flight , weight&balance, and trim(in-flight). I do appreciate the detail that RAZBAM paid to munitions, and hope they contunue to do so. I still to this day proclaim, that if I had to choose to have only a single commercial mod for DCS it would be AV-8B/NA.

May its realistic, but after such long time, I really don't like updated stores restrictions. If I have AIM-9M on outer wingtip station, then next station cannot take multi-munition rack for 2 JDAM's. If i put 2 X JDAM on the station then outer wingtip station cannot take Sidewinder. If RAZBAM is following updated NATOPS on AV-8B, then its something we'll have to live with.

Please bear with me, as I don't see much need on improvement of this module. Aside from code update so it works with latest DCS Rev. OK textures and more detail on 3d model. Maybe wingtip flex twisting . AG weapon delivery is consistent. Start at 4 to 5 angels above target altitude. Dive at 20 to 30 units at 400 kias. Release or fire at 1800' slant distance . Most of the time it's close enough, provided sight depression is set correctly. Module is light , rock solid stable, and is a joy to fly. To me F-5E in DCS is best and brightest training module. If I am away from DCS for weeks or month , I refresh with F-5E. Kind of wish module would allow true all aspect AIM-9M carry, for merge engagements. Chilean F-5E appear to be able to carry 4 X AIM-9(?) , and Chile is in the S. Atlantic map. I am a proponent for module for module upgrade. Even paid. A module that upgrades F-5E to perhaps 1999 vintage , as flown by Chileans, Brazilians, and Thais in that year. So some kind of MFD, INS, 4 AA Missile stations. NVG compatible pit. Something along those lines. Kind of mimicking real life airframe updates. This module does scare me, virtually, if I fly into IMC weather , or landing under IMC. Yeah, it's kind of difficult in DCS:F-5E . No ILS needles. So it's tempting to cheat with TACAN,position markers on kneemap, and F10. Even if I study approach plate , it's difficult to put into practice, as , in IMC, my position is not known to me, unless I cheat with kneemap and F10. Otherwise, as long as I can see , even at night, out of the cockpit, terrain and lights, I am OK.

Yes. There is no wiping and water smearing effect. Just eye candy. Same as in AV8B and Mig21 flying through rain . There is no streaming and rivuleting of water drops due to forward air speed. Can't have everything. If we did we would have no FPS .

On every flight over 10 minutes, and often less, back up ADI freezes in an odd rather extreme attitude. Primary ADI works fine.

It's been working fine for 5 months with RTX 3060TI. -

I am sorry, I have had S.Atl for months now. What did or did not RAZBAM do that qualified effort as awfull job? It seems pretty good to me . Except that AH-64D is exceptionally slow in that theater on my rig. -

My rig is not overclocked. CPU is stock 3.7 with TurboBoost to 4. GPU is standard out of the box running reference Nvidia Game Ready drivers. RTX 3060TI. -

You're saying South Atlantic in 2.8.1.XXX is the one pushing CPU+GPU to MAX not DCS core or BS3 mod. -

Well my BS3 performance is good. But for first time, in DCS, I experienced what I thought was a catastrophic system crash due to DCS CPU and GPU max out. I was flying BS3 in South Atlantic , near tip of Tierra Del Fuego. Practicing antiship with large Missile. Target was CAP pack oil exploration ship. DCS was only major application running. CPU loading was high on one thread and 25% on other threads. GPU load was 99%. With temp hitting 75. Pretty high. Out of blue PC shut down dark. No warning, no freeze, no BSD, just down hard, with SOS beep from mboard. I figure after 4 months of running RTX 3060TI of HP 525W or 550W PS without issue. I finally hit that magic zone of running 3 X 2560X1440 @ 144hz panels, high utilization of CPU and max utilization of GPU. and USB HOTAS . PS was overloaded and tripped. But machine restrated , and I have not yet had a repeat of that. I pushed my CPU to 100% on all threads with non GPU renderers and no problem. A scary experience. I am not blaming DCS. But now that DCS is utilizing high CPU , and max utilizing GPU . The stress of power draw may be more then Z440 PS can endure. Keeping in mind it could be something else. System never did that before, and system is 2019-2020 vintage. -
Do I need to keep BS2 now that I have BS3?
DmitriKozlowsky replied to GrEaSeLiTeNiN's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark 3
I got $9.99 upgrade special on ED store. installed. THen turned off BS2 module. BS3 works fine. -
Performance is in tripple digit FPS at Nellis. Front pit panel is kind of dark at day. Even with panel lighting ON. Cockpit GI is OFF and will stay OFF. There is no need for it. No errors or crashes with 2.8.1.something.

Yes. It may be too much to ask for. But is Twin Huey too much to ask for? Well anyway. Its a wish list. Wishes do not come true. Wishes are unicorns.

For a stealth to act as AWACS proxy, or be used as relay platform , seems contrary to its mission of staying undetected as long as possible, on way to target. But as passive ELINT platform , it may work. I doubt USAF would use it as a linebacker or as a q-back. Offensive lineman, as tip of spear, delivering munitions, seems to be in line with its assumed capabilities.
