  1. Have I forgotten something. My rockets won;t fire. As a pilot. CP/G has TADS on target Rockets are WASed (highlighted in WPN page) 8 rocket salvo set by George ARM ON Trigger Guard OPEN Neither first detente or second detente fires rockets. I am also not seeing 'gate' symbology on eyesight. At which point I am a bit stumped, why rockets are not fireable.
  2. In Flight Refueling in US Armed Forces aviation.
  3. Whats AAR? When I am away from DCS helicopters for some time, I practice my chops in UH-1H. Hardest rotary in DCS is Gazelle (new FM), followed by AH-64. I don't have MI-24 or MI-8. KA-50 is fairly easy to fly. Hovering a DCS: Gazelle is like being a dragonfly on a windy day. Odd that in real world Gazelle is considered to have 'docile' handling for a light helicopter. OH-6/MD-500 is considred an 'adults only' helicopter, requiring high degree of skill and practice to safely operate.
  4. As of 1.3.2, UH-60L is kind of easy to fly and hover. It almost hovers itself. The only danger is overpitching (cyclic not rotor) causing unarrested nose up, when bringing helicoipter from fast fwd flight to hover. I keep trying to be Nightstalker from Blackhawk Down and Zero Dark Thirty, with 'mixed' results. My question is DCS UH-60L easy to fly becouse of its simple flight model, that is unrealistic, or it is a realistic FM but real UH-60L has all sorts of flight control aids helping the pilot?
  5. No not quite. The nose dove while fuselage rolled. There was no control in roll and pitch axis. By the time I pulled on stick, the cyclic input was non-functional.
  6. Pullup was responce, to best of my recollection, to avoid a dive. The nose dove while fuselage rolled . violently. As it happens, cyclic control was non-existent.
  7. The problem is with magnetic cyclic trim. When uncommanded roll happens , it is always on. With trim zeroed, it never happens. I don't know if mag trim issue has to do with IGE to OGE transition. Or into or out of ETL. Or that minigun variant is asymmetrically loaded. Or some combination. Or something else. But it is risky and IMHO faulty implementation. So its easier to hand fly it with new FM.
  8. Same training mission flown, but with no MagTrim used. It was turned ON and available, but not invoked. Mission was to fly and land on, the T/O LHA in windy conditions normal for Guam. Guam average wind speed is betwen 10 and 15 knots with gusts. Also note the discrepancy of wind in flight near LHA-1 and wind over it. Like there is a box around ship , inside ofwhich wind changes. That does not make sense to me. SA342_noMagTrim.trk
  9. Please take a look at this track and crash at end. The crash was result of severe uncommaded incipent roll as result of complete loss of cyclic control. That is cyclic stoped responding to all input despite being zeroed after trim. I get this lethal bad behavior, from time to time, but cannot predict it, cannot explain it. When it developes, there is insufficient time to cancel trim, and level the helicopter. So I am gonna blame developers. Becouse as, in RW, unless therre is a mechanical catastrophic malfunction, there should not be a condition where cyclic simply stops accepting inputs. So bad developers. bad testing, bad testing methodology. Its all your fault. So there. Tongue out! SA342_uncipientRoll.trk
  10. Is Minigunner now under AI control?
  11. Since the rear of tube is also closed, that means that Vikhr is cold launched with compresed gas (nitrogen) and ignites outside of tube. Is that right.
  12. Vikhr canisters do not update after being fired. After firing the missile, the canister still looks pristine. I recall from KA-50 2.0 and earlier that the canister became an empty see through tube. Internal munition count remains correct. It appears to be a cosmetic issue. Also V3 appears to have shed v2.0 salvo mode for Vikhrs, where single weapons release long press (1 second) , after salvo mode is turned ON,shot off two missiles. Now that functions appears to be missing. It does not appear in Controls and only a single missile is released. I do appreciate that Vikhr's hit probability is not 100%, even with solid guidance. A feature of 2D thrust vectoring rolling airframe munitions. Nice touch of reality. Laser is locked on turret, missile hits the engine lid, or tracks, or missies altogether. I don't exactly recall where, but I recall reading that in wingtip 2X Igla pack that is in KA-50 V3, the middle canister holds extra bundles of chaff/flares. At initial glance, I thought that it was Igla 3X pack. However out flare count remains a generous 128 from V2.0. If not extra bundles of countermeasures, what is in that center tube on Igla pack? Coolant ? Extra MAWS sensors?
  13. I encounter this condition from time to time. Where setting cyclic trim, causes cyclic input to be ignored. Canceling trim does not return. Its not really reproducible. The cyclic input remains frozen. It just happens, at worst times.
  14. DCS, to best of my understanding, like most real-time 3d, uses bounding box collision model for speed and efficiency. Meaning that any contact or intersection between bounding volumes of two object is counted as collision. So perhaps in RL, a cannon round can pass between canopy and vertical stab , just above fuselage, and not connect (assuming no proximity fuse). In DCS, such condition would be counted as hit or collision. Perhaps DCS then throws dice 50/50 to actually count the hit, which allows for Rl vagaries. So with rotor blades and trees in DCS, any , ever so slight intersection, of blade with tree, results in destroyed or damaged rotor. I tested this with Gazelle, UH-1H, KA-50III, AH-64D, and MI-24. So my best advice, don't try it! Leave Tactical Blivet on the table. Don't use it. I would not use it in RL, even if I had carbon composite reinforced blades. I am appaled at Army for even teaching it. To use it, safely, the pilot would have to such intimate, seat of the paints, feel for his aircraft's blade, as to know their postion within 1"-6" of hazard. This invites disaster. I have watched Vietnam footage of Air Cav Loaches (OA-6) hovering between trees, hovertaxing between Mekong Delta mangroves. The 26' rotor disk diameter helps, as does its unreal RPM. Also footage of German Army BO-105 in Wesr Germany flying inside forest powerline clearings, UNDERWIRING, landing in super-confined areas of German forests. The skill and cojones of those crews is insane. Their squadron CO must have been having heart attacks and ulcers after reading after-action reports. Maneuvers that would get civilian pilot grounded in this life and next, and put his or her employer out of business. The pilot would have to feel his aircraft, the rotor, the tail rotor, as parts of his body, and be intimately aware of his positional situation. Feel wind on his boom, and fuselage. Little subtle details, like brach swings, to see direction and speed of wind at that instant. We can never have that in DCS, unless we have VR and haptic HOTAS and haptic seat. (aka Buttkicker), and highly detailed interactive weather model.
  15. The tactical Blivet maneuver DOES NOT WORK in DCS. Any contact between trees and rotor disk, and Gazelle goes looses rotor blade tips and lands wether you want to or not. I am surprised that Army would even allow this in RL. As rotor damamge is guranteed. Using your rotor disk as tree trimmer is a pretty good way to end up as a statistic or a casualty or both.
  16. I've had engine break by raising throttle up too fast. I have never had collective down action, even if aggressive , break Gazzelle's turbine. My guess, in real world , is that it is due to direct coupling of engine to transmission, and low governor responce time. In DCS, has never happened to me. Yet! Now I am curious. Now that I got practice with new FM, where I can stable hover and hover taxi Gazelle between trees, I practice these sneak-around battlefield tactics.
  17. OK. I think I got IRMAV back now. THank you.
  18. Krap! Aint working. Master Arm ON IRMAV selected from STRS FUSE: DL or IN Quantity:1 IRMAV spunup for 3 minutes. Go through above procedure. But targeting box does not slew , TDC does lock (maybe) on tgt below flight path marker. Launch: NO! Missile stays on rails. Some ting is wong were. Probably me.
  19. No, something really has changed. Used to be upon uncage the IRMAV view would popup on left screen. Now it pops up on right replacing TPOD, and it won't slew or lock. Pressing SS double tap, turns IRMAV off and switches to TPOD. Tottally different behavior then from what I remmeber. Somebody has been mucking with siwtchology and HOTAS behavior. Its confusing now. It does not feel right about how long it takes , when has to be done in combat. Something aint right.
  20. OMG! I had such good muscle memory few months back. Now I am all thumbs and can't figure I why IRMAV won't popup. I was failing to uncage. Anycase, this is a finger convoluted process. If you are so fast and smooth with your fingers that IRMAV is fired quickly and flawlessly then your wife or GF is one lucky woman!
  21. I forgot what is SS? Sensor Something? Is that Action Fwd? Action Down?
  22. I guess I've been gone from Harrier for far too long, and there jhave been too many changes. I no longer understand the engagement sequence and HOTAS switchology to get IR MAV to be SOI, how to lock it on target, and fire it. Old RTFM I have doen't seem to offer answers. Thank you.
  23. Its at 2.2. But increasing it is not helping. Its just lost in gray darkness.
  24. I see one problem, I have, reminiscent of early Mirage. Maybe its gamma, or how my RTX handles DCS, or panel, but that elevator trim tab is lost in darkness. I don't see it! Even with cockpit lights on, during daytime. its lost in darkness. Or its being blocked by something, as I dont use VR. Or both.
  25. Sorry nothing is working here. With due respect to the guy that says "You are doing it wrong". Well.... you know. I'll keep trying until trial ends then eff this mod. This is absurd.
