  1. Ah. I think I understand. The TM hat can just wire straight in. The switches have the 5 wires with the bare wire connecting 4 posts (I think to prevent phantom signals). The existing circuit is out of a Saitek X52. I'm just changing the handle to an F-18. The only issue is adapting the hats to the electronics. But it doesn't seem to be a big deal.
  2. I had some old hat switches out of a TM FLCS/TQS that I was going to use. Actually Sokol, I'd be interested in seeing how that diode wiring is done.
  3. I'm currently working on a joystick-bash project where I'm taking a handle and integrating it onto a different base (and electronics) while maintaining the programming capabilities of the new base. The new base uses 4 tactile switches for a POV hat and several of them are DOA. If I replace them with a Hat Switch by soldering the approprate leads to the circuit board, will it mean the same thing to the programming software?
  4. Please Colin, Pictures!
  5. I'd be interested in seeing a copy of the su-27 manual if someone could oblige me. Thanks
  6. Look for the.....Bear-necessities!
  7. Why is the digital copy considered devil spawn? I got it on the day of release and it's perfect.
  8. OMG! That would be AWESOME!!!
  9. That is one of my all time favourite videos. I wish I had his workshop.
  10. For 400Euros is had better do my laundry as well.
  11. Why bother? Just buy a few cans of Tremclad and spray it yourself.
  12. That stick looks really interesting. Keep us updated.
  13. That is really cool. I've seen the video before but not the construction photos. It's shockingly close to the real thing once it's airborne.
  14. Any computer/electronics surplus store should have some lying around.
  15. I'm not sure that the D model manuals have been declassified yet. I've been looking for TM1-1520-251-10, but so far nada.
  16. Found the information
  17. My brother is a Hornet mechanic. According to him, the E/F is very similar to the C/D for cockpit size. It's from the seats back that it is a completely different a/c.
  18. Stadius: Check your PM
  19. It's really strange that parts of the country are suffering with +46 degrees, and Tasmania (a short distance away) is -1. That is amazing. The pictures on abc.com.au are scary.
  20. Switched to high and it cleared right up.
  21. That is a great idea. Useful and perfectly functional, but lacking the delusions of grandeur that the F-16 replicas exhibit. Very good work!
  22. Hey, if you can afford an i7, knock yourself out. All the new Intel stuff will use the new socket, so if you're buying anyway, I would muscle up on the CPU and good mid-range GPU. From what I can see, this sim is heavier on the CPU rather than the GPU. Any current generation video card should be fine. I'm running a 9800GT at 1280x960 and get 40fps. But I only have a Core 2 Duo 6750. When the AI engages me I notice a spike in CPU activity. Oh yeah, and the i7 920 can be clocked up to 4Ghz with adequate cooling. It'll run faster than the i7 Extreme. If I could afford it, it'd be mine.
  23. The Cougar throttle works great since I removed the After Burner Detents. It is precise, but I may convert to hall sensors since there can be a "jump" in position if I haven't used it in a couple of days. I should probably clean the pot :) Anyway, I also have a Saitek Command Unit, and a DIY FreeTrack setup. Manual view switching is for suckers :)
  24. That would have been a good place to start. I guess a lot of people don't know how to read.
  25. Seriously though. Who except the US has the arms to carry on a large-scale tank battle?
