Okay, so you CAN edit them, just any patches will override them? Just go back and replace them after a patch then. That works, have to do that with the graphics.lua every time to change my FPS color.

I know there's been extensive work in the cockpit lately, was wondering when the button mapping will be changed to reflect that work? I had buttons mapped to the "old" numberpad but there's no ability to map to the new INS named ones. At least I haven't seen "INS Number #" in the mappings, so I have to use the mouse instead of my UFC.

Will deck crew make correction in case of wrong alignment?
Steve Gee replied to ViperDriver's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Have a feeling there's going to be a few disappointed people around here. -
Thanks, was wanting to replace the IA menu ones.
-
Looks like it. I just remove those two " -- " in front of the RGB reference line and viola! Yellow. :) If not, it's red as can be and much harder to see.
-
Mine comes red. Yellow only if I edit the graphics.lua file each time.

I've done my own for my study planes...text only...for my RL kneeboard on 5" by 8" index cards. Just hadn't thought about FC3 ones until seeing yours.

Is it possible to edit the Instant Missions for each plane?

Rudel, do you have more of those very handy .pdf's it looks like you made for reference? That one is outstanding, had to print it out.

There's an entry in the graphics.lua to change the FPS color from red to yellow, just remove the comment bars. The yellow is SO much easier to see and evidently, someone else thought so and began the process to change it within DCS some how it looks like with that section in the graphics.lua So, how about a button somewhere in the Settings section to change it to yellow, and other colors, so we don't have to edit it EVERY time we repair DCS?

Will deck crew make correction in case of wrong alignment?
Steve Gee replied to ViperDriver's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I don't see them interacting/correcting us, more we use them as points of reference for aligning with the cats. Sure, they'll do certain things when we hit our marks I'm sure, but letting us know if we're right or left during taxi to a cat might be a bit too much to expect. -
In today's (2/20/20) patch, this fix was listed: Runway Spotlights vs Cockpit gauges - fixed In 2.5.6's first version, the reflection from runway lights onto cockpit gauges was a bit much, especially on some MFD's, but now it's zero reflection. Zip. And there's no way that there wouldn't be SOME light reflection onto the MFD's of the Hornet in the Taxi and Takeoff Training mission, due to the runway lights placement. I hope this is still part of the tweaking process, but there should be some light coming through that clear cockpit glass and reflecting onto the gauges, like before.

On a few occasions since 2.5.6, when starting DCS now, the splash screen never goes away but I can hear the selected theme music as I usually do when the game fully loads. The only way to close it is using the Task Manager. I've ran Repair after it and it does the same thing. Only a computer reboot fixes it. I'm not getting any sort of crash log, as there's no crash, just a constant splash screen freeze.

Will Patch 2.5.6 include any updates to the F-14?
Steve Gee replied to Belphe's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
+1 Never trust a wrinkled grape. :D -
Regardless of SSLR on or off, I lost 5-8FPS overall in 2.5.6 as opposed to 2.5.5 in my simple testbed mission I use every patch to see performance gains/losses. With SSLR on, I lose another 15% at least in FPS with no real change that I can see from any altitude in the water or coastline.

Having rolled back to 2.5.5 for the time being...MP problems with 2.5.6...I can say the biggest thing I noticed was old lighting seemed to fade once it was "hit" by another source, say your steering gear light on the blue taxiway lights at a field, for example. In 2.5.6, it doesn't seem to fade at all when the gear light hits those same lights or other ones. Looks like it's a decent start, but there's still some tweaking to go as it's causing other issues.
-
Speaking of the Burke, which Flight/version are we getting? Has it been announced?

[DCS ISSUE] Interior lighting exaggerated
Steve Gee replied to Cornelius's topic in Bugs and Problems
I seen the same problem areas in mine, ended up rolling back to 2.5.5 for now. Global Cockpit Illumination on as well here. -
He may mean the Gamma setting in the desktop settings section. Mine's at 1 there as well. I did have to lower mine down to 2, which I think is default, in game now so it's not too light.
-
Not sure about night time, but it doesn't seem to make much difference in appearance in the F/A-18/Free Flight/Persian Gulf mission but it does eat up about 20% of the FPS overall. In the F/14/Cold Start/Caucasus, the reflections off of the bomber taking off seem to be brighter, but it could just be my old eyes wishing they were, too.
-
Something minor, but it looks like the wingtip formation lights disappear when you go from LOD 1 to the next level when zooming out in external view since 2.5.6. They worked fine in 2.5.5, or at least it was never noticeable as it is now. After seeing the daytime cockpit lighting, I can tell this new lighting standard will take some tweaking. Good luck. :)

Probably have another month. Ka-50 update will be next, 2.5.6 fixes/tweaks then Supercarrier is my guess. I don't expect to see those crewmen scatter when I come in for landing until the end of March myself. :joystick:

Because of this is why it's continued use will never stop. :D -

Did you have to tweak the afterburners after seeing the new lighting effects in 1.5.6?
