Extended Manual now available to download free
Boulund replied to bumfire's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Wonderful! I kind of felt this would be happening but after a proper "No" when I asked last time I was almost giving up hope. .=) Thanks a lot! You're the best -
I bet it'll look great with textures! You've got talent

Nvidia Forceware 190.38 hassles
Boulund replied to Ovenmit's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Finally got around to installing the drivers. I'm on a 8800 GTS 640MB with XP SP3 and the 190.38 drivers works perfectly! No problems at all with anything so far (IL-2, LOMAC FC, DCS BS, Red Orchestra, ArmA2) -
Where to Buy LockOn AND Flaming Cliffs?
Boulund replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
So it seems. I've only bought Flaming Cliffs download version from there, but I guess you can order them on disc as well. So it seems anyway ;) -
Where to Buy LockOn AND Flaming Cliffs?
Boulund replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Now that's a shame. I'm pretty sure you can get Flaming Cliffs CD-version from lockon.co.uk (same place where you can get the download version). In Sweden (this will not help you the slightest I'm afraid... :( ) Lock On: Air Combat Simulation (Modern Air Combat) is available from ginza.se for as low as 4 SEK (that's ~55 cents american). I don't think they ship outside sweden though. =( -
This is because your trim technique is wrong. Upon releasing the trim button (in the sim, mind you) you should reset your joystick to idle position. By not doing this you add that "light deflection of rudder" multiplied five times to a total of what you describe as "full rudder (!!) imployment"... Are you sure you've read the manual and consulted the various threads on this forum concering trimming? Edit: I'm terribly sorry for not reading your post to the end and realizing you've got a force feedback joystick. My comment does not apply in that case...

Actually I've moved on to a Saitek X52 Pro quite recently but I have to say I was very pleased with my layout on the Logitech 3D Pro. I think you can find my profile here on the forums if you do a quick search for it in case you're interested. I think I used button 11 as a shift-key to enable me to have Shkval, gate size, HMS, flares on the keys on the base. Then I had control of trimming, locking, laser, cannon rof/rounds, shkval movement on the top of the stick. Something like that anyway. If you download it from the forums here you can just check it out inside the game settings. Unfortunately I don't have it written down anywhere, but it feels really good when you use it - everything sits where I want it anyway hehe. edit: Found my post with the profile: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36902 Please note that this is just a "regular" Logitech Extreme 3D Pro without force feedback
-
I'll try to do that, but it's still kind of strange considering I haven't got a force feedback joystick (Logitech 3D Pro).

Great that you reposted this in the Problems and Bugs section - a pity it isn't in the Lock On one though ;) I've experienced this as well, just in case anyone else want to know.. :)

Nvidia Forceware 190.38 hassles
Boulund replied to Ovenmit's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
.. Nevermind me, downloaded the drivers a week ago and thought I installed them, checked it out now and for some strange reason I probably didn't install them yet. I'll check back with you when I have... =) -
This is strange, I also thought that the sensitivity of my Logitech 3D Pro was too strong and therefore reduced the sensitivity of the axis in Logitech Profiler down to 20%. After that I added some curve (not a lot) to the axes from within Black Shark and that worked out perfectly. Maybe you should try to add some curvature to the axes in order to get less sensitivity around the center point to increase the accuracy?

Maybe this post will prove that it was too long ago since I last read in the manual, but if malfunctions occur during startup or while checking for malfunctioning systems: how do I fix them?
-
I don't see why not. It shouldn't be harder than to map your keys to the right piece of hardware in the setup screen. Try to map whatever you want to map to those two pieces in the setup screen under their own column and remove duplicate mappings that do the same thing between them. Try it! I bet it'll work

I'm astonished by the great look of that HUD. Simply amazing what people can do. Great stuff

I honestly think the 300 buck price tag is nothing! You get a very convincing looking (to me anyway, with my modest demands) piece of equipment with force feedback, and the price includes all three parts! (stick, throttle unit and pedals). A Saitek X52 Pro goes for ~$230 american and for only 70 bucks more you get a lot more than if you'd buy a X52 Pro and the Saitek pedals (which would cost you ~$365 USD here in sweden). And that's without force feedback mind you. The omniloved CH suite will run you at least $540 in Sweden, which of course does not have force feedback, but is made of metal... I really like what the Logitech unit is trying to sell, too bad I just got my X52 Pro... =D

X-52pro profile with throttle configured in DCS??
Boulund replied to carlos22cps's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Go into the settings and under KA-50 Real (or something similar) you select Axis or something along those lines (it's got a different colour than all other options in that drop down list). There you clicko on the collective line in the column of your Saitek X52 Pro and move your throttle up and down, it should detect your throttle moving and assign it to the control. -
As far as I've understood several people on this forum has already bought copies of Black Shark so I also think that the price isn't really the issue. I guess most of the more interested players are on a steady income as well, not like producing a game aimed at younger people with tighter budgets.

Amazing, as soon as the previous thread about this movie disappears from page 1 (it is currently on page 2) it becomes posted again. =) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43249

On my swedish keyboard the comms menu is mapped to the " ' "-key located as the third key to the right of " L ", just as Panzertard says. This is the key that produces the " \ " if you set your keyboard layout to US. In case someone else is wondering in the future and comes from sweden via the search function: Comms menu is on the key to the right of " ä ". The key labeled as " ' " and " * " on a swedish keyboard.

Help!-X52 PRO- Major time lag..........
Boulund replied to bettymoo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Can it possibly be a broken connector on the PS2-cable connecting the stick with the throttle unit? Check for broken pins and/or if possible check it out for breakages with a multimeter or similar. Maybe there is a break in the cable somewhere producing contact errors randomly? -
I hear you, but nothing going on is still going to be there if no one pops into the server every now and then... Unfortunately I can't really say I'm much better..

AM39 Exocet? edit: nvm, it doesn't even look like it when I think about it... -
Sorry for not stating what I based my calculations on, I made an edit to my previous post about it. It's calculated on maximum takeoff load anyway. Not the best measure but it gives an idea of engine power vs weight (I figured it would show off the Gripen in a good way as well =)). Of course all aircraft are not the same and comparisons based upon just performance isn't all. Just like everyone says it's a mixture of maintenance, cost, flexibility and other factors as well. But being good looking is a strong selling point I'd say :D

I just want to start off by telling that I know nothing about much of the things you are discussing here and have basicly only read the information available here and on wikipedia. None the less if you look at the thrust and weight-figures and calculate some thrust/weight-ratio on the planes F-18, F-16, JAS 39 Gripen you get the following: F-18 Thrust/Weight (kN/Mg) 3,385 F-16 Thrust/Weight (kN/Mg) 6,714 JAS 39 Gripen CURRENT Thrust/Weight (kN/Mg) 5,75 JAS 39 Gripen "SUPER, or E/F version" Thrust/Weight (kN/Mg) 7,475 (30% more thrust) Obviosly the Gripen is a much smaller plane and can't carry as much as the two others, but the acceleration of the Gripen currently should be somewhere between that of a F-18 and a F-16, and after the new "Super Gripens" arrive it's not possible that it will outclass them accelerationwise. Just me thinking out loud... (with a nice patriotism and strong bias towards the beautiful swedish Gripens ;)) edit: sorry about not giving away the conditions for my very light calculations. I just took the maxiumum takeoff weight for each aircraft.
