  1. =) Glad to hear it worked out for you in the end! Happy flying
  2. I'm sorry but I don't find this at all confusing. Install 1.0.1b if you're on a clean install If you've already installed 1.0.1a (1.0.1) you're good to go, no need to install further updates. Multiplayer incompability between 1.0 and 1.0.1 (both a and b). Multiplayer combability between 1.0.1a and 1.0.1b (1.0.1 as well). These are all topics that any one can test for themselves, doing a clean install - trying to play online, etc. I honestly don't think that either of us REALLY needs the answers to these questions from the devs more than they have already stated in other threads. And sorry for my ranting below... Thought I might put a warning here to those not interested in my rants. =D I understand that maybe no one wants to hear this from me. But this is, at least to my knowledge, more of a community forum for users and simulation enthusiasts, and not as much a "reach-the-developers-helpdesk". Still, I see that the devs sometimes visits the board and comments on stuff but I still think that there has to be some trust towards other community members. This question has been raised before in other threads and I believe that the community will crumble if everyone is only interested in talking to the devs through the forum. I'd like to believe that they are busy with their work (granted, some of them might even have as a "job" to frequent the boards...) and not spending all of their time on the forums.
  3. There has been numerous threads about this that most of them answer the same questions you are asking. Using the search function results in this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45418&highlight=patch+1.0.1b As far as I know: 1. Do you really need 1.0.1b if your have 1.0.1a? No. According to above mentioned post you mustn't install 1.0.1b if you've already installed the a-version. 2. Is there a version conflict in multiplayer between 1.0.1a and 1.0.1b? No Regarding your other questions I'm not sure of the answer and will keep my mouth shut. =D Enjoy online play
  4. I've had similar problems with reinstalling my bluetooth radio device (and also with other things installing network devices on my computer, in this particular incident it was vmware-stuff). Keep track on your point build-up when adding or removing devices and/or hardware. I've lost several activations this way http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43187
  5. 1. BS can't recognize it properly because it is probably set in the SST software (or just drivers if you're not using SST) to act as the mouse wheel. The game believes that it is nothing but your mouse wheel. 2. No idea, anyone else? I've had no problems with this though.
  6. I'm quite OK with my current config, where I've got a small macro programmed in my SST-software that continually taps the slew-keys in the direction I want to slew with my HAT-switch. I've even programmed the macro so that I can slew diagonally rather well. It works OK but granted, it'd be a lot better with real axes to play around with! (like a genuine coolie-hat)
  7. Setting it to mouse axes works perfectly. Thanks for the great tip! Too bad you can't do the same for Black Shark (or at least I didn't find a way)
  8. Sorry for going a bit off topic, but that must be applicable to the X52 Pro as well? =D never thought of that idea. I'll have to give it a go.
  9. I use a X52 Pro but I set my hat-switch so that it taps the move keys at a suitable rate when I hold the hat in a position. So I recorded a single stroke and replay it as a repeating macro so to speak.. Maybe this is possible on the cougar as well?
  10. VERY nice video. Loved it! Great production
  11. always nice to have this lying around. Thx!
  12. Dito that. I saw a vid on youtube where they used this video card together with six HD projectors instead. Much nicer! =) interesting article none-the-less! Thanks for the link
  13. I couldn't play your video but judging from your description it now sounds like you've more likely got general issues with frame rate than your TIR 5 unit. I believe that the microstutters you are referring to are in fact slow-downs related to when your frame rate dips below your monitors refresh rate. As you say the microstutters are harder to notice when frame rate is below your refresh rate, which I believe is because your head isn't getting used to the smoothed output of fps high above monitor refresh rate that occasionally drops below the refresh rate giving you very noticeable drops. Try capping your frame rate at 60 so that you don't get massive drops when the game pushes your computer to hard. Going from 60 to 55 isn't as noticeable as going from 90 to 50 fps (almost half!). Try it first by just enabling Vertical Sync I'd say. I also think that you should get the described microstuttering even with FreeTrack, but less noticeable since you're already capturing head-movements at sub game fps speeds.
  14. ... TrackIR 5 stuttering? Sounds like setup issues to me. I'm personally on FreeTrack as well, but I'd go for TIR any day. Don't get me wrong, I love FT but man is it mean to setup and my LED-cap eats batteries like nothing else =) I also use FT with a Logitech VX-1000 and it's so far the best webcam I've tried for FT after the Wiimote (have built in bluetooth so it's nothing that bothers me really, besides the extra set of batteries running out). So far I've tried three cams with FT: A4-tech PK635 (something like that) and it worked perfectly in XP, but not at all in Win7 Nintendo Wii Remote via Bluetooth, THE most awesome I've tried so far, but another piece consuming batteries Logitech VX-1000, works good in both XP and Win7. The most reliable so far. I've applied no modifications to my webcams either, only taped a piece of negative (completely black, exposed to light and processed) photographic film in front of the lens (totally reversible yeay!=D). After these 8 months of FreeTrack-usage I've accumulated I can say that the most important thing (if you want to go for a three-point-LED-type rig) is to get good quality leds (either with wide angle lenses or thorough filing) and build a sturdy frame for them to sit on. Accurate measurements of this frame is paramount when setting up the software later, so make sure to do it symmetrical and note all measurements! Get someone to measure distances from the top LED to your head's pivot point (where it is attached to the neck) so you get accurate representation of movement in FT.
  15. Always nice to hear more feedback from consumers on this one. Maybe this year's purchase of an X52 Pro wasn't that clever... =D I'll stick to it for a while though (pun intended)
  16. Edit: Sorry for posting a tad too late ;). I'll leave the post here in case someone else comes looking for it. I guess you are still missing what I was referring to. Hope these two images will help you find your way. The first shows where the drop menus I'm talking about are located, the second shows the drop down menu opened to display that you can chose Axis Commands Note that there are two possible modes to set your mappings in - Real and Game. Depending on your difficulty setting you will be playing the game in one of these two modes. Make sure to set keys properly according to what mode you're flying in.
  17. Of course this is an option if one is hellt bent on mapping a true axis to keys, but in my post I was kind of referring to the ability to map things in the game options =) You are correct none-the-less.
  18. Are you sure you are looking at Axis Assignments and not just key assignments? It is as far as I remember impossible to map joystick axes to key assignments. There is a small drop-down list where you can chose between different key assignment areas and Axis Assignment (is another colour as well!). Also make sure you're making changes in the mode you're playing - there are two: Game mode and Real mode, which depends on what settings you have enabled in the options.
  19. I just tried it yesterday evening and I must say it's nothing complicated at all? Just land, trim her 'til she's standing still and apply the weel brakes. You'll sit steady as if you're built onto the ship. =) edit: might mention I played the courier mission... DCS Black Shark ENG Download version patched to 1.0.1 with SharkPit 2.0 (Dragon) and Simmod Reload(?) ground textures.
  20. Maybe in RL attack helicopters are not flown by some (admittedly enthusiastic) flightsimmer nerd but with someone with lots and lots of training using honed military tactics... ?:pilotfly:
  21. Very nice screenshot series! Love it. Ahh.. how this always happens to me online.. =)
  22. Great article! A lot of fun to read. Thanks for the link!
  23. Wheel brakes? Have no idea if it's enough though...
  24. It has happened to me as well. It seems to only happend to me when the AI spots an air target and wants to move to intercept it, but has not been given the order to do so. After giving the order to intercept, he eventually comes around and acknowledges it after a couple of "rejoin" messages...
  25. In order to have a functioning community one has to be able to trust sources other than the "officials", otherwise it's nothing more than a message board for contacting the developers. Of course, in matters that we can be sure that no one other than the developers knows anything about one has to turn to them, but in matters such as these - which has been discussed before and almost anyone can confirm (a whole lot of people actually bought both DL and DVD versions) I'm not the one complaining about a plausible answer from someone else... Now sorry about going all crazy and off topic, just had a rough day I guess. =) Thanks for listening and again, sorry for not contributing to the thread in this post. I should've kept this in a PM... Love this great community and all the people in it. Peace . We should fly together swepain, both being swedes and in the same timezone and all! ;)
