  1. Great for the heads up, I've since you discovered this decided to move on and run linux system and other stuff on my other PC so that it doesn't interfere with the otherwise great game. Btw, I tried doing a deactivation but got no reactivation code like you spoke of? It only said to use my serial key to reactivate, nothing mentioned (and I even looked hard for it) about said reactivation code. Which is strange, because it is actually mentioned in all readmes etc.
  2. I always go manual, feels like it's quicker, and I don't have to turn off that annyoing instrument lights and other things that the auto insists should be activated
  3. While I appreciate your concern I'm fine here thank you. When BS was just a little baby I did a whole lot over overclocking comparisons where I OCd both graphics, memory and CPU and my finding was that the only thing bottlenecking my computer in BS was the CPU. With it currently at almost 35% overclock I'm very satisfied with my performance. Usually around 30-60 FPS. I'll probably move on to Win7 this weekend so we'll see what happends then.
  4. As I understand Matt Wagner has got one... Maybe he would like to tell us something about it (unless restricted to do so by some evil NDA ;))
  5. Thanks for that tip but I've as of yet seen none of the claimed fps kill you speak of?
  6. Looks very nice! Great job!
  7. No, LOD detail to allow or clamp changes nothing. =( maybe a reinstall is all that will fix it
  8. It isn't because of the high altitude making hover and vertical take off impossible with full load? You mentioned that taking off with lower fuel load and building forward momentum helped - this increases lift and reduces the load on the engines...
  9. I remember it as beeing crisp and clear sometime in the last months, must've been before I installed 190.x drivers just like you said. I just installed the latest 190.62 drivers and the problem is still there.
  10. Hmm.. Isn't that "HI MOM" if you view it upside down?
  11. I've got my X52 pro configured almost the same as Snacko. I've got the axis tuned so that I've still got a tiny bit of action beyond the two indents, just because it feels better to go past the indent when I idle or when I want max power. On topic I pull. Started off as pushing when moving from my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro where it just felt right pushing for power. But I actually found it quite awkward pushing for power on my X52 so I decided to change it around and now I can't fly any other way =) Pull for power!
  12. I guess that would totally ruin the capability of viewing other's replays.... Unless maybe that information is stored in the TRK file and settings adjusted for each playback...
  13. aah! Wonderful, I had no idea you could set a desired altitude for the altitude hold mode. I just thought it automagically entered the current altitude as the preferred and that you turned it off whenever you wanted to change altitude. I've never really found a use for altitude hold unless when autohovering, but I very seldom do that and always find it a bit awkward to always have to turn it off after leaving autohover.
  14. In real life the collective brake is there to prevent unwanted slipping of the collective. It's as such always activated when you do not move the collective. Example: I'm flying straight ahead - collective break active, even if I have my hand on the collective. Leveling out and adjusting collective - release the break, move collective, reapply the brake. Easy as that. It does not really have a "proper" use for us simmers I guess.
  15. I still think that it's next to pointless to use the ministick to control shkval until you can assign it as a slew axis like it should be. Using it like proposed earlier in the thread just makes it a "softer" POV hat.
  16. Sorry for asking but isn't this "NewInput.dll" that enables FreeTrack usage exactly the same one that was released late last year? I haven't used any other than this one and it still works perfectly: NewInput.dll Size: 540 KB (552 960 bytes) File date: 15 december 2008, 00:17:08 I found it on the FT forums in december last year right when DCS BS was released.
  17. You know people, there is no way better to learn than to go online. Most peeps are just fine with helping the rookies out, because it's a lot of fun to play together anyway! I went online as soon as I could fire up the bird and haven't regretted it at all.
  18. I'm inclined to agree with you on this one. I'd say income off Flaming Cliffs / Lock On in general is at it's end of life. In sweden you can buy Lock On for as low as four SEK, that's around half a dollar! =) I'm eager to hear other peoples experiences with Lock On FC and Win7 since we just got Win7 Professional full version available on MSDNAA where I study.
  19. That's exactly what's bugging me. I keep remembering I had just this issue earlier this year but can't for the life of me figure out what I did (or when) to get rid of it! =)
  20. Sounds like something I'd like to know more about =) Still no cure for the cause though =( Please explain in further detail how I should acquire this reactivation code? I'm pretty sure I know where my serial is anyway ;)
  21. Has any one of you even looked at the pictures I added to the first post? Distiler: I'm only using program specific settings in the nVidia driver, because I like to have different settings for different application. Threaded optimization is ON Negative LOD bias Clamp or Enable - no difference GGTharos: I'm running my screen's native resolution right now of 1280x1024 (I'll make sure to go for a 1680x1050 when I get back home next week) but I can tell you that none if this makes any difference. GF_Mastiff: I'm using a 5:4 aspect ratio in the game, just like it should be with my screen res.
  22. Dito that. I loved my Extreme 3D Pro to bits. Too bad it wasn't a HOTAS ;)
  23. No as far as I can tell it isn't because of the mod. The same textures gets blurry even without the mod. I mentioned this in the first post btw. ;) I bet it's because of the latest drivers. My guess is that I didn't notice this problem before because I used some older drivers, but quite recently installed the latest 190.38 and around the same time installed the 1.0.1 patch and this pit-mod. Must be something like that. I'm quite experienced in trying to tweak game settings to my liking and problems like this one usually goes away just setting mipmaps to high quality and enabling AF16x. Ah well, I'll live with it. It's not like it's disabling me from playing ;)
  24. I've heard YES, it does have a small beneficial impact on FPS. But honestly, I've really tried this and saw no real difference. (You could hear one though ;))
  25. You can put it anywhere you want (the .lua file that is) and just load it in the options menu. Options->Controls->Load profile
