Does it also do it at the home screen? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/298865-frame-drop-bug/
-
Install fpsVR and see what it looks like on those graphs.
-
Does it occur on the home screen or only while in play? Are you just experiencing low frame rate or are the frames being dropped as well?
-
I've never seen any befit from motion smoothening but for me motion vector (AKA) motion reprojection which locks the frame rate at 45fps works really well. You will know its enabled when you see your frame rate is caped at 45. You can use fpsVR or hit ctrl+pause in game.

No dice. I did one better, not only did I exclude the entire steam folder, which is on D drive all by itself, but I flat out turned it off. Still exact same behavior as stated in the OP. I'm this " close to doing a reformat..

Ahh antimalware.., (anti- virus). I don't use one so I must be what ever windows uses in stock form, but I will try killing it next time the frame drop bug strikes again and report back.

I guess I don't see/know what you are talking about. Where/what is that?

This frame drop bug is back. I give up. Here are a couple of pics of the issue. Both are taken from the DCS home screen. One is when the frames start dropping and the other is what it's supposed to look like on fpsVR. When it starts, hitting (control alt delete) and then closing task manager clears it up, I don't know why but it does. It's annoying as hell.. If anyone knows what the deal is let me know, thanks.

After looking into it a bit it's most likely a defective cable that came with this (an early version) of the G2 headset. Unfortunately, mine is about 18 months old and out of warranty. I just forked out 200 bucks (with tax and shipping) for the heftier V2 cable. Hopefully this is the fix. A powered USB splitter and/or PCIE USB card can also sometimes be a solution but since it has been fine for over a year now, I suspect my USB ports are adequate and the cable is just starting to crap out. Solved: HP Reverb G2 Errors (7-14, 4-1 or audio stutters/drop/switch... - HP Support Community - 8122856 HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts This is unfortunately par for the course with HP as the first Reverb V1 that came out before the G2 was also a nightmare of failures.

"Input device TrackIR unplugged" "Input device TrackIR plugged" -This just started today. Related to update pushed out recently? -HP Reverb G2 REV-A -Happens a few minutes after gameplay. -That message will appear and simultaneously the sound will switch from the headset to the TV speakers. -It will not correct itself until you restart -The game and the visuals in the headset work fine. -Uninstalling and reinstalling WMR and Steam VR had no effect. -All the latest drivers, also, it was fine last weekend. Anyone have this issue? Thanks

Thx Hotdog, I just figured it out but it's still bugged - from syria mission landing pad elv is about 1000ft and GAI is set around 1500ft but when you tell him to up/foward he says ok but does nothing - if you short press W the alt will increases by 10ft per press, but it's not until around 1700 ft that GAI will lift off into hover about 10ft off ground -if you continue to short press W, say to 2000ft, he still stays at about 10ft off ground -unrelated issue but also with Syria, during cheat engine start the right engine always fails and must be manually started
-
I'm experiencing the same issue; George runs us into the ground on the Syria mission. A google search turns up this post, I read it a go hmmm ok, now how do you set GAI speed/altitude? Then another google search turns up a vid from Wags saying you have to long press forward (the W key??). Hop back in and long press the W key and GAI does something completely new and says something like "copy realigning" then proceeds to run us into the ground again LOL.. I give up.. OK so that must be wrong.. SO.. Bignewy how do you change GAI altitude? thx

Reinstall of WMR and Steam VR fixed it. Seems like it's always somthin when you step away for a bit..

Played a month or two ago and everything was butter. Hopped on today and sitting at the home screen, frame dropping like crazy, like twice a second.. looking at fps vr. At the home screen gpu and cpu usage are very very low so there is no good reason it should be happening. Frame dropping very bad in flight too. Updated gfx driver. 9900k/3090/32gbram/HP reverb g2. Got steam locked on the 45fps reprojection. Any thing break VR in the last month or two? Thanks
-
Exactly, 45fps is perfectly smooth so why overtax your hardware drawing a bunch more frames that don't add to the experience. You can use that extra headroom for shadows or msaa for example. I lock it at 45 and fly around downtown Dubai and adjust as needed till I don't dip below 45.
-
Might be the same, what I am talking about is actually a vr settings FILE in the the steam vr file folder. You open it with notepad. I'm not in front of my comp now otherwise I would give you the path.

Seeing a lot of talk about 60/90hz. As a g1 owner it was plug a play for me to go to the g2. If you guys haven't messed with it I would suggest leaving it at 90hz, go to the steam vr setting folder, set motion reprojection to "motion vector". It locks the frames at 45fps and is butter and at 45fps it gives your GPU headroom to crank the visuals. Hope this helps.

This was the fix! thx
-
Well a nice surprise I got my G2 yesterday at 1pm. Everything about it is a plus compared to the G1, the only slight negative is it feels a bit more binocular-y , your eyes seem to sit just a bit further back from the lens.
