  1. I don't mean to be blunt, but you're kidding, right?! Why would you not want to be able to set up a majority of your controls once, rather than four or five times? Why wouldn't you want to be able to make one tweak to an axis curve and have it propogate throughout your arsenal? Wouldn't you rather have to delete conflicting assignments once, rather than four or five times? I'm starting to sound angry, but I'm really not... I just think anything that can be done to streamline the process of getting people into the air in a variety of aircraft, without having to spend hours fiddling with controller assignments is a good thing! If DCS World is going to be introducing as many as 15 or 20 airframes, it could be literally days setting up control profiles with the current system, and MUCH of it is redundant...
  2. Would it be possible to combine control profiles so we have one tab covering "universal" functions, and the individual module tabs contain only the functions unique to that module? For example, the axis functions Pitch/Roll/Yaw are probably "universal" to all the fixed wing aircraft, and odds are pretty good that the user will be using the same joystick to control each airframe... So why do we have to set up/refine those controls for EVERY aircraft? You could probably even "interpret" those basic functions to the rotary wing airframes... This could include "generic" switches, like battery, MFCD 1, and I'm sure many others could be realized. Switches and controls unique to a given airframe would still need to be broken out, but having a single "universal" tab would be a Godsend as more and more airframes are added to the DCS universe!
  3. All joystick assignments are located under the Options > Controls tab. That's the good news... The bad news is that you must assign ALL the options for EACH modules, via the drop down list in the upper left corner. Select a module (A-10 Sim, for example), make your assignments, lather, rinse, repeat... To reset to default, navigate to the folder C:\Users\your name\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input and delete the folder for the specific module... Or delete the entire folder to reset all. A new folder will be made the next time you start the sim... It's also STRONGLY recommended that you take the time to delete any conflicting assignments when you create your profile. The default system assigns appropriate controls to ALL the controllers it detects on your system, only sometimes they're not appropriate and can cause conflicts...
  4. Ethereal, thanks, but that is exactly what I'm not seeing... Brun, thanks, and now I know why... Set and fixed! PS I don't understand why it was moved, since it was an issue specific to this (FC3) forum...
  5. we really need a "Next" button at the bottom...
  6. I got this view once when I tried to run it on my laptop without switching to the supported video adapter... What are your specs? Also, 32 or 64 bit OS?
  7. Thanks very much for the reply, but please do see the last line of my post...
  8. Reposting this to it's own thread, because I'd like some response, please... Is there a minimum footprint required of the FC1 installation for the proof of purchase check? For example, if I install FC1 to the HDD (and thereby, the registry entries), can I then manually delete all files but the .EXE and still pass the check, or do I have to keep all the files on the HDD? I do understand that I can uninstall FC1 after FC3 is installed, but if I can keep just the .EXE installed at a few MB rather than reinstalling FC1 for any given FC3 installation...
  9. Is there a minimum footprint required of the FC1 installation for the proof of purchase check? For example, if I install FC1 to the HDD (and thereby, the registry entries), can I then delete all files but the .EXE and still pass the check, or do I have to keep all the files on the HDD?
  10. Not sure if it means anything, but I'd be interested to know where your swap file was located for each installation... Are you leaving it to the default (system managed, on the same HD as the OS), or are you setting it up manually? Is so, where?
  11. I could be wrong, but I believe if you purchased the BS2 upgrade version, you must still have BS1 installed at the time of activation... Maybe try d/l'ing and installing BS1 form DCS, use the key you got from Steam to activate BS1, then try to activate BS2 upgrade? I would guess you could uninstall BS1 afterward, but you'd have to reinstall/reactivate if you ever want to reactivate BS2 upgrade again...
  12. You might also try adding a short delay between the keystrokes on your GKey macros. I do not suggest recording delays, but instead add them in very short duration via the editor. For example, L-Win down, 0.05 sec delay, UpArrow down, etc...
  13. Known issue - There is a hotfix, but I'm afraid I don't know the link... May I suggest you search TRAINING CRASH?
  14. The P-51 in game defaults to assigning every controller to all the controls (i.e., my Logitech G700 mouse is assigned to pitch/roll using X/Y axis respectively), so go into the Options>Controllers section and clear any irrelevant assignments. If another controller is assigned to the throttle function, it might be interfering with the animation, etc.
  15. EtherealN, your fix does not physically move the pics to the intended folder (as I read Ironhand's intent), but instead creates a link to the DCS Screenshot folder in the Libraries/Pictures "quick link" so you can quickly view the files... Kind of like putting a shortcut to the folder somewhere so you can get at it quicker! The pictures are still stored in their original location... I assume you were aware, I just want to be sure it's clear! With all these links, pointers, etc., I think it gets more and more confusing as to where the "physical" files are really stored...
  16. I had this issue when I forgot to set my Asus notebook graphics to nvidia and the sim launched with the default Intel graphics... Not sure if your notebook is a hybrid, but it looks just the same... Also took 5 minutes to load and gave me 5 seconds per frame... ;)
  17. Check the user files for the hot fix... not at home, so I can't be more specific...
  18. No worries! Just trying to keep you updated! ;)
  19. Update Now (1.2) even worse... Instead of being offset a little to the left, I'm several hundered feet in the air, except when in the cockpit... I did not touch the controls! I just clicked Fly Now, and hit Pause/Break twice (HOTAS matching)...
  20. ** Sniped - again ;)** It simply changes your Windows 7 desktop to basic mode (solid color taskbar, etc.) when DCS goes into the actual sim. This open up some display resource for use in the game that normally go toward displaying the Aero desktop, even when it's not displayed... You see the same thing when/if you launch Flight Simulator X...
  21. Someone may correct me later, but as far as I know, training is only available for the A-10 and Mustang... If you're trying to train the Ka-50, there are no training missions so it just sits on the menu...
  22. Deleted - to easily taken out of context... ;)
  23. And they don't have to be calculated light sources... You could just render a "lit" texture for the airports. You wouldn't have shadows, however...
  24. Never doubted it for a moment! Wish I could offer more...
