  1. True that. Even though on my system VAICOM isn't working at the moment, I noticed I started talking anyway when using the radios, only to discover it won't work without VAICOM.
  2. Not me. No joy, DCS 2.5.6 keeps hanging at 10% when starting, even after the latest VAICOM update. Have to repair and then don't use VC+VAICOM, otherwise it hangs again and needs to repair again as well. Oh well. Going to wait untill things are more fleshed out, I'll use to comms menu for now.
  3. Today I've noticed how detailed the Supercarrier is going to be. I was just on the regular Stennis, haven't had time to fly since the SC trailer & pictures came out, and man, what a difference! Can't wait. :pilotfly:
  4. I like it. Great start to the improvement of the lighting system. In fact, I like it alot more then the previous versions already. Finally it's a joy to fly at sunset straight into the night! And it runs more smooth on my system than 2.5.5. Imagine that. Thanks ED. :)
  5. No, just no. Go back to Stable if you don't like it. Or revert back.
  6. I believe they can. Right click on DCS in Steam, hit Properties. Select tab Beta, there you can change it. I'm using standalone so it can differ a bit from my description.
  7. True that, flying a Huey is a delicate dance between the collective, the cyclic, and the torque pedals. By the way, the Huey doesn't have an autopilot, the "autopilot" in DCS for the Huey is just to relieve to pilot when flying the distance. But by no means real, so you can't compare what that is doing to what you should be doing. :)
  8. Yes. Or a Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin. Or maybe a Boeing AH-6. :)
  9. Well, to get a bit more in line with the specific era discussed in this thread, I wouldn't say no to a helo from that era.
  10. You're right. But this is an opinion-thread. I gave my opinion, like others in this thread. Ony because my opinion isn't in line with the majority in this thread, people want to discuss my opinion. But there's nothing to discuss, it's just preference. Which is/was really annoying.
  11. Your point being? If you don't take it as seriously as you describe, you're doing it wrong?
  12. As long as it makes sense to me. :) Seriously, it's almost like one's not allowed to not like old planes. Well, I don't. Oldest plane within DCS in my inventory is the F-14, and no, don't like that one either. As I said. I like the complex systems of a modern fighter. I'm interested in how to operate them, I'm not interested in becoming a virtual pilot. To each his own.
  13. My preference is as modern as it gets within DCS, obviously.
  14. I don't care for a battlefield. I'm here for the simulation of a modern fighter jet, not the simulation of a battlefield per se.
  15. It's because Zombie is a protest song against IRA actions. That's why it's odd to use it in a Combat Simulator context.
  16. I don't agree. Really don't care for old stuff. I like modern. Old is obsolete, and for good reason. Tech advances always. And the battlefield is much more complex in the modern day. I like complexity.
  17. @Shack: "Disable Player Voice", under Preferences.
  18. I'm just copying eveything into my mind and store it there.

    F18 or F16

    Both, doh.
  20. Don't know for sure if ED modeled it, but you can turn down the brightness of the map with the GAIN rocker switch. Left bottom of the AMPCD. Never tried it myself.
  21. Yeah, I hope ED will still add some templates over time. Made the same suggestion a few days ago in the carrier discussion thread. :)
  22. I would pay for an upgraded Huey 2.0 module, like I will do with the upcoming Warthog 2.0 module. :) I hope it'll be heard too.
  23. I hope they add a template for a CVBG, for use with the Mission Editor, with the Supercarrier.
  24. Well, I guess you'll just have to buy a new SSD then. :D
