    What new plane?

Regarding the A-10C, Bunyap Sims has a long playlist on Youtube covering a lot of stuff in a relatively easy way to understand:
  3. True in a way, but that problem could be "solved" if you'd setup multiplayer servers where only VR-users are allowed, so that everyone has the same disadvantage. :smartass: You and others are right though. It's not that feasible for a multiplayer environment.
  4. Well, really a lot of people talk about the resolution, but I find that a bit exaggerated to be honest. Sure, you can't see DDI's and gauges and such real clearly as you can on a screen, you can still read them a bit, but the immersion makes you forget that. Plus, once you've learned an aircraft to a level you can operate it without thinking, it becomes even more immersive. I actually was worried about the resolution of VR (I have a Rift) as well, untill I bought one two days ago and tried it. Really surprised at how clear everything still is, despite the resolution. But that's just me. :)
  5. Yes, but, he also said he especially likes WWII planes. And in those planes you can't really do BVR, it's mostly dogfighting at close range. I'm sorry, I'm just overwhelmed by the intense first experience of DCS in VR.
  6. In stead of the 27" I'd recommend; go get a VR headset. I myself got a Rift today, and it's far more immersive than a flatscreen, you wouldn't believe. :) Welcome to DCS.
  7. Just got a Rift today. I haven't flown very much in my 40yr life, 7-8 times maybe? And of course, only in airliners as a passenger. Oki, so, the Rift. OMG, my palms were sweating as hell. :) Flown the F/A-18, did a carrier launch and a CASE1, both went really great. It's way easier to estimate distances and heights in VR, because of 3D. Flew the A-10 as well for a moment, tried a VFR landing, but I didn't expect the plane is sitting quite high when gear down, so the touchdown came earlier than I expected. Crashed and burned. Then, the Huey. Turned that off almost instantly. I'm not that good in flying the helo just yet, so when I took off the chopper was kind of unstable (because of my poor helo skills), so didn't feel good in the stomach. ;) But man! WOW. Just WOW. Truly another dimension, flying in VR. I have to get used to the feeling of flying I suppose. Like I had to get used to VR when I first tried it a few months ago and did some simracing (stomach feels when I drove off to the track). Still. Really impressed. Just wanted to share in my enthousiasm.
  8. Are there any release notes on the latest software/firmware updates? Was wondering wether or not to update my WarBRD & MT-50 Throttle, all is working very well at the moment and I don't feel like re-doing all the bindings in DCS after updating. So, is there a must-have feature or option or otherwise which makes it more or less mandatory to update? :)
  9. Nah, no need. The 3 displays in the Hornet. The two on the left and right are called DDI's (Digital Display Indicator, no color), the bottom one MFCD (Multi Function Color Display, color). The two displays in the A-10C are also MFCD's. I like displays in aircraft. Don't know why, I just do. :smartass:
  10. Mostly because I like DDI's and MFCD's. Nothing really rational however. Just taste I guess? :)
  11. Western style grip, as long as it has a brake lever like the T-50 grip. :)
  12. I vote for the Hornet, I love it! But that's also because I first would want to see the Jester-AI in action, how it performs, how to control it, etc. In all honesty I love the more modern planes better. F-14A/B is a fairly old plane.
  13. Agree. I'm fairly new with DCS, so I've been practicing the AGM missiles and GBU bombs with the Warthog untill they arrive on the Hornet. I know, not entirely the same but the principles are. :)
