Some examples.

Because secretly he loves DCS, like we all do. :pilotfly:
-
3 ships in fact. ;) Bet you even feel more happy now. :smartass:
-
Pre-ordered! :)
-
Nice vid mate! With VR on the way, you'll be in for a treat. :)

Civilian artificial aviation to fill the skies with more (non-military) traffic, integrated into DCS (so no moosescripts, RAT, or whatever is used now). Also, a battlefield which is filled with more units, maybe provide a bunch of templates for that.

I was just curious, and I hope a representative from ED (Wags, or NineLine for example) could answer this: - How was it as a military aircraft simulator developer to develop a ship, no less a carrier, in such detail, compared to fighterjets? I mean this in terms of the information gathering process, or for example a different simulator model for boats in stead of jets. Was it harder, or not, or just different? What was the hardest thing to develop? - How was it to develop moving people and gestures, and to make it so it looks natural? I'm guessing this was the first time for you as ED? And did this experience you've now gathered from developing this, make you consider more of this in the future, for example on airfields, or the pilots or groundtroops and such? - How did you test all the aspects of the module? Did, or do, you also have SME's like the ones assisting in the development of aircraft? Many thanks in advance for answering, which I hope you indeed will, am really curious! :smartass:

Watched it a few times already too. To numb the waiting pains. :joystick:

Ogh, that carrier looks awesome. The crew looks very realistic! Great work guys! Now comes the hard part. The wait. ;)

I agree. Hope they adjust the brightness and readability of the MFD's in VR espacially. Both the blue lines as well as the text on the screens. :)

I voted no. Not because I think ED doesn't deserve it. But just imagine; a sub for your internetconnection and/or cable. For Netflix. A sub for Simracing. A sub for this, and that, and such. Then even some more subs. And within a few years we have like 10-15, if not more, subscriptions for various services/games/content. Which from that point on, it'll only be affordable for the happy few to have subs on multiple things. This will cause the number of subscriptions to decline because people will have to choose. Since DCS is already in a niche, I don't think it'll be as popular and sustainable as something like Netflix. So no, thanks. :)

Your Thoughts: Is the F-16 Worth Time Investment Now, or Just Wait
dawgie79 replied to flameoutme's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
It's close to kicking the Hornet from my most fav jet list. :pilotfly: So yeah, I'd buy it. In fact, I did! -
The F/A-18C Hornet can do it all; AA, even with the modern AIM-9X with the JHMCS (very cool in VR!), has an AA Radar and later in Early Access AG radar as well. Datalink, IFF, you name it, the Hornet's got it. ;) It has a (not yet fully functional but already very usable) Targeting Pod. A lot of different AG weapons: Mavericks, Laserguided bombs, GPS/INS guided bombs, Freefall bombs, cluster munitions, rockets, Walleye, Harpoon, HARM. SLAM will come later. So, a lot to learn but then you can do it all, and it'll be easier transitioning to another plane, because you know the principles of a lot of weapons and systems already. Oh, and of course not too long now for the Supercarrier which also will be a very immersive experience in VR. :)

Found this, for anyone who's interested. http://faculty.nps.edu/jenn/Seminars/RadarFundamentals.pdf

I would throw in an extra 20 and get the Hornet.

Why is the Viper getting TWS before the Hornet?
dawgie79 replied to key_stroked's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Sometimes I wonder what the average age is of the people on the ED forums. I thought it would be around 40ish, but after reading so much entitled whining and complaining the past few months, and sometimes even namecalling and sugarcoated threats, I sincerely believe it's more like 12ish. -
small things that make a BIG DIFFERENCE (List Yours!)
dawgie79 replied to flameoutme's topic in DCS 2.9
Not much of a small feature, but: The fact you can fly! A fighter jet! In VR! I mean, come on! How awesome is that? :pilotfly: -
You can assign tasks to any unit of your choosing. Make sure to name the unit when placing it in the mission, so you can easily find it when assigning tasks and such. for example: 2* F16C's are escort. 2*F/A-18C's which is you and a wingman. 1* Awacs Then you can add Perform Task: Escort, for the F-16C to the Awacs, and it will escort that Awacs throughout the mission.

Most things mentioned in the video I don't really care about. The only thing I miss is proper weather and night lighting. Both are essential for a simulator which revolves around flying. Sure, it's combat flight but flying nonetheless. But hey. I'm not really one who complains, I'm fairly easy going when it comes to bugs. Besides, there's enough of complaining and hate already. Since I (and many others I imagine) dreamt about flying fighter jets as a young boy, now with DCS in VR I can! So I won't be going anywhere, and keep on waiting patiently for updates and such. Although as I said, I hope the weather and night lighting (lighting in general) will be the first features being addressed. That said. Thank you ED! Keep on going! :)

Well. I guess I'm the only one so far who regrets buying the Tomcat. Not because of Heatblur, it's a top quality product no doubt. But to me, it's old, very old, in SP jester is not fitting in my workflow. If you like modern planes, with the most modern weapons, modern avionics, controllable workflow, then this is not the module for you. Have to say that the Tomcat community calling FBW kiddieplanes wasn't helping for me to like this plane either. Because it's utter BS, of course. I'm gonna guess I'll get a lot of flak for this posting, because it's almost a sin not to like the Tomcat. I guess I just bought it because of romantic Top Gun memories but flying it doesn't do it for me. :)

For the escorting plane, in the missoin editor (waypoint advanced actions), set it to Perform task: Escort (select yourself as the unit which is to be escorted) & ROE = Weapons Hold. That should do it.

You're probably right. :)

Try first, then decide if and which GPU to get. Maybe none.

Can't slew TGP with any precision. What am I doing wrong?
dawgie79 replied to parxuk's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Zoom the TGP in some more, might help.
