  1. I just wish they’d give us an update on any of these items tbh.
  2. I’m surprised that you’re only seeing a “saving of around 10%” I assume you mean an improvement. I use the HP reverb Omnicept which also uses Qauad Views FR and it’s more like an FPS improvement in the vicinity of 40%, maybe less in multiplayer. I’d be disappointed if it’s not that sort of improvement for you…..
  3. When flying the Huey and Viper and L101, no doubt many others, the electronic glideslope transmission range in the Caucus map and NTTR map can only be received around approximately 15 nautical miles. As a real world pilot that flies internationally from time to time, this is not like any other glideslope transmission that I have ever seen. In Australia usage of ILS is authorised within 25nm and 35 degrees of the LLZ unless specifically limited due to terrain. In fact, coming in to both capitol cities and smaller locations you can at least see ILS indications albeit with their associated false nodes well into typical VHF transmission range. Be great if this could be fixed up.
  4. So you’re still ruining a Pimax Crystal on a 9700 and a 2070….?
  5. Thanks for the objectivity. What are your specs?
  6. I am on a 12900KF and it's working very well for me with VR. I am a late adopter for these things to be safe but all good here.
  7. Wait until dynamic foveated rendering and or smart smoothing is released and working properly (nobody seems to be using DFR in DCS anyway at this stage, I don’t know why not) and then you can get a definitive comparison from an objective and independent coherent review. Until then, hold your fire. Hard to be patient when we all want the next big step, me too, but right now it will be a definitive step backward in terms of performance even though the image quality itself is for most people outstanding.
  8. @Comrade DogeIs it possible that selecting "The Way" Run as adminstrator may have been my fix. That seemed to correlate with my problem being rectified. In any case, I'm all good. Thanks again. Great mod!
  9. Will do, could you suggest the best app for videoing this. Additionally is there any plans to support Pre planned target support in the Hornet?
  10. @Comrade DogeHello, I have scratchpad up and running with the way and all seems to work well except that I cannot get the VR shortcuts working. I have to come out of VR and click "New Waypoint" then manually click save. I am on the latest version 212. Thanks again.
  11. I believe that sort of resolution is waaay too high to run even with a 4090. It’s simply too many pixels, and by all accounts you don’t need it set that high either.
  12. @SneakyBastd who knows if and when smart smoothing is going to be released by Pimax however you will get very significant performance improvements from “Quad Views Foveated” at least for DCS when @mbucchiareleases his new code, currently awaiting the Pimax Client update. The performance gains from his beta testers in DFR are outstanding through OpenXR. Im hoping that I will be able to stick to my 3080ti with the Crystal, sounds at least plausible if I dial down the native supersampling. We’ll see.
  13. I have a 3080ti and a 12900KF with OpenXR running native res ie ss 3425 x 3500 per eye. I use motion reprojection on and it sometimes goes to 1/3 rate. Looks awesome, I’ve stopped f#[ing with the settings, I’m just trying to have fun.
  14. Maybe smart smoothing is different, I defer to your knowledge but I know that your OpenXR Toolkit interface has some artefacts with motion reprojection on my G2 but it works very very well otherwise even at 1/3 rate and I’m not sure that’s simply a subjective view. There’s not many of us getting around without 4090’s that are not using repro. It’s been a great success. I look forward to the day when it’s not required but I suspect that day is a long way off. Fast jet simming needs smooth performance/ high frame rate and when I’ve tried it off it just doesn’t pass muster.
  15. Nobody to date has shown DCS with any form of motion smoothing/smart smoothing which is what I am looking to see before pulling the trigger on what could be potentially a great headset. It will not be great however if you need a 4090 realistically to get it to a sufficiently smooth performance because that, essentially doubles the price of the headset, at least in Australia. Maybe it will be worth getting both but right now, I have a 3080ti and I do belive there is at least a chance that between Pimax and mbuccia and his DFR, we might see a 3080ti putting out a decent perfomance without a 4090 being necessary. Matt has worked miracles with my G2 and OpenXR as is. I'm happy to wait in the mean time.
  16. Not as yet, as I understand, Pimax has the option but it is not yet functioning. This is not uncommon for new HMD's Varjo Aero was the same, it didn't work for some time. I believe Mbuccia is working in conjuction with Pimax to get it up and running but in some instances his hands are tied untill certain functions are made available to him at the Pimax end. Until then, I am waiting.
  17. Smart smoothing is what I needed here in my view and until that or some other form of frame interpolation is available, even a 4090 is going to make the Crystal look like a poor performer.
  18. Thanks for that, on point two, that makes more sense, I was wondering why the slope scale is doubled up albeit one of them has no point of reference. On the first point, I’m surprised that the real thing does not have a visual AOA reference, as opposed to a digital readout. Cheers.
  19. 1) Does the real F15E not display an E bracket? (Similar to the Viper). I find in the viper at least, your approach alpha is a lot more intuituve to manage. I don't find it easy to fly a digitial readout of the alpha, I am hoping an E bracket is simply yet to be implemented. 2) Will the ILS display eventually have some equivalent of a "command steering symbol/"tic mark" such as the Viper and Hornet. I find it difficult to fly an IMC ILS without something equivalent and it seems unlikely that it would not have something to act as a flight director equivalent. Perhaps this may come in future with the "Autonomous Landing Guidance Steering Mode" (As discussed in 8.15 of the manual pg 233)? Thanks in advance.
  20. For my money, I was seeing flickering artefacts on external lights (taxiway lighting and lamps etc outside the aircraft during night flights) until I "disable(d) NVIDIA Optical flow acceleration on RTX cards". This made a big difference to motion reprojection for me.
  21. I obviously missed that. Looking forward to seeing how others find it. Thanks Matt.
  22. Apparently DFR has been released by @mbucchia for DCS. Has anyone had a chance to look at it so far? I’m keen on upgrading my HP Omnicept but if Smart Smoothing is not working effectively at this stage, this may well be a good work around with my 3080ti. I Sam that VR Flight sim guy says it’s up and running and producing 80-90 fps on a 4070. Not sure of his settings though.
  23. That’s true but by all accounts you don’t need to compensate so much. I don’t have any data on this as I do not yet have one but in most cases of aspheric lenses they don’t appear to need as much compensation as a fresnel lens. That’s part of why the Varjo by all accounts can have a higher resultion than say a Reverb Aero but if you sample to the same resolution the Varjo still looks waaaay better. That’s the theory anyway.
  24. I think the big question for me is simply about the smart smoothing not appearing to work effectively with DCS as yet. If this headset is not able to do some form of reprojection at least for now, then it’s a non starter for the time being. Maybe that changes down the track if Vulkan gets up and running perhaps but I’ve been using my G2 lately with the multi threading to avoid the stutter issue and I’m getting around 65+ FPS. 65+ FPS doesn’t look great I have to say and most of the testers even on a 4090 with resolution dialled right down are getting nowhere near that. I hope I’m missing something but until I can have my reprojection concerns addressed, I think I will have to hold off. A friend also appointed out the crappy returns policy constantly being dragged out into the non warranty period and that concerns me too.
