Does anyone fly IL2 as well? Question on thoughts of p47 handling
Ravenus replied to sublime's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Guys the combat environment in the other sim and this one vs real life is very different. The p47 during the war in 1943 was up against the 109 g-6 w/o MW-50 and it fought it at high altitudes in large numbers. There was a hard deck that the p-47 wasn´t allowed to go below ( even though they did at times). In the sim, p-47 on most MP servers are fighting against 109 g-14s, D-9s and K-4s and at lower altitudes because ppl aint got time to climb 30 min to 30 000 feet. Gee, no wonder it´s a turd. The p47 wasnt a beast ppl make it out to be. It was very good in the flight areas it excelled at and in 1943-mid 44. -

What would be your preferred F-4 variant?

Why not Both F-4 J and F-4E? -
Thank you! I knew i wasn´t expressing it right.

Magnitude 3, cough, cough

IF you need more material, such as, manuals, Topolo's(from BMS) computed EM charts, I can PM them to you for use. Just let me know.

@Hiromachi Has the slow speed overperformance been looked at.? It's clear that the sustained load factor from the mach .3 to mach .5 range is a bit higher than it should be, as articulated by Shmal. You can fight the F5 in a turn fight at these speeds when you aren´t supposed to be able to. You can see the graph stemmed from in game tests at mach 0.4 its at 3.2 G at H=1000(after burner, not emergency AF). Further note after Shmal's input : You can observe a difference between the graph from the german manual and the Polish and Russian manuals. Nevertheless, whichever one is more accurate between the 2, the loss of load when decreasing speed should have an "exponential" decline or logarithmic shape. Whatever you want to call it. This currently translates in the turn rate where the rate is higher at mach 0.4 than at mach 0.6. It doesn´t take a professional extrapolation to see that it is plain wrong.

Jagged edges (and possible solution)
Ravenus replied to Minsky's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
ok it did solve it by changing it to 1360x768 and 16:9, instead of 1368x768. Not sure why as I was on my native resolution before.... -
resolved Aileron behavior and effectiveness
Ravenus replied to Reflected's topic in Bugs and Problems
Not really. It´s more sluggish at those speeds meaning no roll rate. Just no ridikonculous lock up.. And if you are trying to fight a sabre using roll, you are making a mistake... -

Enabling super sampling fixes it but at a cost of 20 FPS on my end. aspect didn´t solve it -
I too have some black boxes. AMD card.

DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
Ravenus replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I never said the Pacific was great theatre. IMO, they should have gone for a Midway-New guinea theatre instead of the late one. But you don´t have 4 *30mm on each Hellcat that will utterly devastate any aircraft in one pass. Though admit the Zeke armour wasn´t the best even for .50 cals. DCS going for pacific or Eto is besides what i´m talking about. I´m talking about specifically the ETO, there are better aircraft to introduce before the 262. The me 410, the 109 G6 late/G-14.. 109 g-10, P-38 Lightning, Hawker Tempest (if its possible)... the list goes on. -

Lets look at the big picture. I suppose you like multiplayer yes? If you do, how is it going to fit in with the rest of the planeset? I think we all agree, that what dcs needs more of is a planeset that matches historical accuracy, AND is congruent with the other planes that are available. Besides that it wasn´t flown in normandy(neither were most of the planes in dcs ww2), it was extremely rare to see one. THe 262 is just going to be a plane you zip around 100 Mph faster than anyone else, getting cheap kills on an aircraft in one pass who doesnt see you. If you fly it very well, you will get 5-10 kills per sortie. Compelling gameplay... This will ultimately lead to multiplayer servers and mission designers to severly limit its use. You´ve played il -2 bodenplatte, yes? I don´t need to explain any further. So other than a museum showcase, in which you can fly a lot offline, I´m pretty sure there are PLENTY of aircraft, even in ETO that would be mmuch more interesting to introduce into the DCS ww2 multiplayer world before a 262. And here I have to agree with the devs to leave it low priority. -
I would just go for a 70s/80s map in Korea. Seoul not being the megametropolis that it is today, but just about believable for a modern setting. Also catering for the 1950s scenario in Korea. It is a shame the Korea scenario hasn´t been worked on. It has barely been touched in sims and it has huge potential for fun factor and amazing scenarios/fights.

EH, neither did the F86F -35...

Plis gib for Koreaa

That was actually improved massively like 7-8 months ago. They were real sneaky about it. Its not perfect but it´s better than it used to be. In fact I´d go t say its almost to good for distant spotting, specially in winter maps. You can see a pixel +20-30 km away. its the medium ranges and close in that its hard for the contacts to stand out.

la7 started rolling out to elite VVS squadrons such as 176 GIAP in Fall 1944. Kodzhedub and Orekhov started combat sorties in september. About the same time of the k4 and the dora was introduced, if i´m not mistaken...

Exactly but the F was at par OVERALL, not turn performance. I too have read books that still say the turn performance of the sabre in a SUSTAINED manner is still inferiour to the mig. Sustained turn performance is determined by a mix of factors such as aircraft Thrust to weight ratio, wingloading and wing airfoil thickness. Instantaneous, meaning max turn rate that happens in an instant(untill you bleed your speed) and usually at speeds lower than your best sustained turn rate speed, IS superior on the sabre. This is great for maneuvers like scissoring. Add that with superior rollrate and the sabre is unmatched here. I have to agree with you on thing though, the spin on the mig at low speeds and high alpha isn´t violent and doesn´t happen nearly enough. It is the only thing i´d change for the mig, flight model wise. Otherwise it is great. And yeah don´t fight AI, it´s wrong. If you want multiplayer action for the Korea jets, look no further : https://discord.gg/KqpQSSC
