My New Multiple Monitor Setup (pics/description)
Bisch replied to walker450's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You re welcome filtonflyer. Before that I didnt find units I even knew they are here. The seperate shkval now even enabled me to fully recon my environment far ahead. Didnt use the Abris except the map. Now I can see all details and finally got motivated to lesen more about this system -
My New Multiple Monitor Setup (pics/description)
Bisch replied to walker450's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I also have 2 tft and until 102 came out I used the second one for Abris + Shkval. It was a huge gain in atmosphere AND gameplay. I used solution 2 from this guide: http://www.vjs-germanknights.de/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=251 This guide is in german but you see the lua files. Since 102 it didnt work anymore but I ll try it from the scratch again. Especially with the updated phantom monitor fix -
Yes Ulrich, I will re-install :) Thanks for your quick replies!
-
Thanks Ulrich! I'd go for the regedit-solution. However, didnt work yet. You mentioned lockOnPath I guess you wanted to say the path to Blackshark? I created a Eagle Dynamics Key in Software, a Blackshark Key in the ED key and there a string called Path with the value D:\Spiele\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50 (which is my BS install dir) Didnt work so far. Do you see my mistake?
-
"Black Shark game not found! Installation interrupted!" Perhaps because I did install a new OS and activated the old installation. Do I really have to re-install BS now? I already used so many unlocks because of corrupt installations, CPU changes and especially failed re-activations (with deactivation-key)

Thanks winz! Sounds like some good hints

Thanks for the links! I know both websites and I did watch some of the stuff. Most of the videos I have seen have been about "How to" in a technical way. I guess I should watch some more...

Hi, as fans of Blackshark (still not very good in it though) we stepped into the world of LockOn/FC looking forward to "THE" patch. Our main experience in the world of simulations are on the road, under the water and in the skys of WWI and WWII. We know quite a bit about modern planes and how stuff works. We also know how to use the FC planes in general but beside finding coop missions we have the problem that we don't know how to succesfully plan and fly a mission. Right know we wanted to stick to some very basic stuff like dumb bombs, unguided rockets and laser guided weapons without optical sensors. That's why we did go for the SU25 first. We generally fly towards the target area, try to fly low and in valleys but as soon as we reach the ground targets, the IR guided weapons take us out very quickly. Popping flares like crazy doesnt help (very long). Using laser guided missiles looks difficult enough in a Su25T but I dont know how I should ever hit ground targets with such an inaccurate aiming method. For the use of rockets and bombs I have to get dangerously close to the targets (BTW: Why do I have to be in a shallow dive to be allowed to drop bombs? Yea I know I better should be) So where could I get some general tactical advice? Same applies for other scenarios (A2A) for us too I guess after we ll switch to that. Looking forward to your advice!

What kind of aircraft do you wan't to see next?

I see your point and for sure everything great has it's downside but don't apply almost all arguements to multiplayer in general? Even random people back in 2002 didn't have a problem with playing as a team consisting of a truck (!) and a non-selfpropelling 88 AA Gun in World War 2 online. They were really having fun. No to mention those multicrew tanks and planes. Many BS players are really searchig for teamplay and for new multiplayer motivation. Some may have not friends who also play and or like Sims but lot of us have. Some are even in squadrons. Still, you could find a partner here in the forums and you still could have the AI option (as well as the AI wingmen right now). And hey.... not everyone out there on game servers is a jackass -

Any dualseater with multicrewoption. I really love to finally see a high fidelity sim allowing me and my mates to work together even closer. My favourite would be a helo with as many systems as possible. IR and/or Radar would be great. Im not an expert but a late Apache should fit in here. But any other dualseat helo would satisfy me (Tiger?). Can't wait to a three of my friends and myself in a formation flight 2x2 working as a very cohesive unit -
Finally I tried a second little TFT for Shkval for fun and atmospheric reasons and I must say wow.... completely underestimated this one. As I have limited space and can only use 2 of my 3 video ports Id really love to see a switch function for multi-monitor setups to be able to switch between Shkval and Abris. I don't need them at the same time in large scale but I dont see a reason to be bound to one of them. Perhaps it is already possible and I missed it so far?
-
I thought that too until I used a second little TFT as Shkval display just for fun and atmospheric reasons. Then I realized the real power of the shkval. I never want to play BS without second TFT again although it's quite unhandy without dedicated "workspace".

I guess I ll buy it... but should I buy from steam or yuplay?. Steam doesnt seem to be as expensive as it used to be for other games and I really like to have it in steam (don't care about anything anymore, friends implementation) on the other hand I don't know how future mod support will be or how DLC will be handled in comparison to yuplay. Not being forced to activate would be a great pro for steam but this time things look different. I guess I ll have to use an external logintool if I buy at yuplay? This would make steam look better for me. Can anyone help me to find out the pros and cons? Does anyone know wthether there will be a weekend deal already now or should I be fine with the 10% right now?

Thanks for the very good tips Scarecrow! I ll keep them in mind when creating my profile. Just a quick side note. I had a merged setup consisting of X36, MS FFB2 and Saitek Rudders and I had profiles for the X36 (used the throttle and the X36 handle on FFB base) but I never had one for LockOn. I just started to play LockOn to be ready for FC 2.0 ;)
-
Well, I used to give away my X36 saitekbased and dhauzimmerbased profiles. Im willing to enter all commands (but it will be based on german KB layout) but with my limited experience in jet simming I doubt I can create a nice assignment. This will take some time. However, perhaps Im going to enter the keys at the weekend. I ll share it then of course.
-
I can't believe I can't find profiles for the G940 anywhere. (The stock G940 profile for LockOn that comes with the profiler software is rather small). I have been asking for a profile at simhq already but people don't like to share I guess because there must be profiles. So I want to to test my luck here. I would be even glad if it's a profile with unassigned commands although I really could use one with a layout as Im a jet noob. (Reassigning the stock BS profile was no problem as I had enough experience with that nasty shark) :helpsmilie:
-
Thank god Im not the only one :yay:
-
Problem solved? I was able to map them seperatley (although I dont know if it makes much difference - I am quite jet noob). I ve been looking everywhere to find a lock on profile or at least profiling tipps. The commands come with the logitech profiler software but no good layout. So far I havent found anything. :(

Thanks guys! Great input! I ll suck up all you mentioned. For detailed questions I ll go to the appropriate thread as I don't want to hijack this thread ;) -

Thanks again! I ll keep it simple and stick to your Mods in the first run. More important I need to learn the basics. So far I don't know too much about those darts. Mostly played WWI, WWII and Blackshark. Last time I used jets in a Sim should be Amiga I guess ^^ What do you recommend to prefer: - Manuals - Flanker Trainig Page - Ingame Training - Just play ? -

Thanks Griffin! I ll try these. Should I also try texture mods or should I ignore them? Haven't thought about the incompatibility of FC 2.0 but should be easy to remove them with ModMan. However, I hope FC 2.0 will bring some nice visual improvements anyway. Are Mods typically used in Multiplayer or mandatory or forbidden? -

To prepare for FC 2.0 coming into the DCS world my friend and I bought LockOn/FC This thread is really looking useful but I guess many linked mods aren't the "best" anymore. It's really hard to say what's really good and still up to date when looking on lockonfiles.com So, could anyone give me a very short overview what I should do to make LockOn/FC more beautiful and more realistic? First steps are made :) (copy of installed Lockon directory for saftey reasons and downloaded Modman 7.1) -
Thanks for your suggestion. I guess I ll do that... and generally trim not so often as others do. So far I dont think I miss too much. Releasing pedals screws my cruise flight so keeping trim rare should be the best idea for me. However, is there no way to completley disable (exclude) trim for pedals? That way I could forget about releasing at least
-
Neverending story I guess... after a long break in BlackShark.... what is the suggested way to trim if you use a FFB-Stick along with non-FFB-Pedals (should apply to almost any FFB-Stick user; use of pedals/twist/rocker as pedal input shouldnt make a difference either)? My friends and I started with lots of problems using our MS FFB2 / Saitek Combo until we found out that you have to change the controls in the settings according to the FAQs. Triming the cyclic finally seemed to work. But the pedal problem mentioned in the posts in here above is still sth to worry about. I know why it is a problem but I didnt understand yet what the best solution is. I have three options in mind: 1. If you release the pedals before clicking the trim button it should have no impact (perhaps slight calibration issues with pedal axis could lead to cumulative pedal input? no axis sensor is in perfect balanced state when released, is it?) on pedal trim/input, but it makes trimming more complicated while not using it in the way it is meant to be. The BlackShark is not fully trimed after using trim. 2. Keeping the trim button pressed like the non-FFB-pilots to give you the time to release the pedals. Not only sad to lose an advantage of FFB but also quite difficult - at least to me. When pressing the trim button, no forces are applied to the MS FFB2 which makes me suddenly oversteer the stick even when only using clicks.... but with keeping trim pressed I need to worry about not moving the stick into any direction as long as the trim button is pressed. Quite difficult with the wishy-washy stick (as I said, no forces on the stick while trim button is pressed). 3. Don't use trim at all... meh.... So how I am supposed to do it?
