LOL .. VR in DCS? right now? it's a joke. Patch on the 14th killed it. Instead of 45+ FPS on multiplayer now I"m getting 15fps. Yeah, I prefer my lunch in my stomach. I'm sure they will eventually fix it but who knows when. My Specs: Rift CV1, RTX 2080, 32GB DDR4 RAM, i7 6700k Overclocked to 4.4Ghz, NVME SSD. Windows 10.
-
They are. I hear about it more and more. The thing is MOST people are not using VR. It seems to be an issue with ONLY VR.. mostly on multiplayer..... on Windows 10. Not sure if Rift or Vive / Index is any different. So that's not a HUGE amount of people. But for DCS that is a larger number then most games... more sim players use VR then other PC gamers do. At any rate this performance is ridiculous. I can't play.

VR DCS is better optimized for Win7 than Win10
csdigitaldesign replied to mytai01's topic in VR Bugs
Right... Rift doesn't run on Windows 7. The software refuses to run. Minimum requirements say Windows 10. You might get the CV1 to run on Windows 7... but the Rift S? nope. -
[REPORTED]Performance degradation with the last two beta updates
csdigitaldesign replied to RealDCSpilot's topic in VR Bugs
We are referring to instead of getting 45fps + in VR in DCS with a RTX 2080, i7 6700k, 32GB RAM, and a NVME SSD (my system), we are getting 15-20fps. 15fps is NOT PLAYABLE in VR. Not even close. I can tolerate 30fps.. 45+ is ideal. 90 is perfect. Sometimes I would GET 90fps.. on multiplayer. before the patch on the 14th. NOW? Nope... total garbage. That what what we are referring to. -
I'ts BADLY worse. I was getting 45+ FPS with everything high/medium with pixel density of 1.5. Sometimes 90fps. After the patch on the 14th.. my FPS has TANKED HARD. 15fps. SORRY ED.. I'm not buying anything from you guys anymore with the game like this. Why would I can can't play this game like this! It's SO BAD I can't even play. It's bad on a SCREEN... and forget VR... 15FPS in VR? No thanks. I want to keep my lunch in my stomach. Uninstalling. All this money spent on this game and I can't play it now. FIX THIS. Running a RTX 2080, 32GB DDR4 RAM, i7 6700k. NVME SSD on a Rift CV1 on Windows 10. There's no reason it should run like this. It's not acceptable. Ran fine with windows 10 before the patch on the 14th.

Harlikwin, not my point. I was getting 45+ sometimes 90 fps ONLINE previously before the patch on the 14th. Now I can't even play. Overall performance is down but online performance is WAY DOWN. I have an i7 6700k, 32GB DDR4 RAM, RTX 2080, NVME SSD... there's NO reason I should be getting performance like this. Before that patch I was getting much better performance after upgrading from a GTX 1070 to my RTX 2080 and DCS was one of the main factors (not only) of that upgrade. Since the VR "optimization" patch a while ago it didn't help much at first.. after some time it did improve. It got to the point I could actually get 90fps on decent looking settings IN multiplayer. Now? Now it's running worse then when I had no VR optimization patches and worse then the GTX 1070 I had. There's no reason that with system stats like this I should be getting 15-25fps. Also keep THIS in mind... main menu 90fps.. solid. No wavering. I go to the SERVER BROWSER.. my fps drops to 15fps. There's something really ODD going on here with this patch. The online traffic is directly effecting performance. My performance bounces up and down all over the place as well but online (even on the freaking SERVER BROWSER) it goes into the toilet.
-
The performance in this patch is GOD AWEFUL. Can't play. It's UNPLAYBLE.. getting 15-20fps in VR. Was getting 45+ and sometimes even 90fps before this. Recent update didn't help. It's not steadily that low.. it jumps back and forth between like 12 and sometimes 45 but usually it's in the 20s and it's just unplayable right now. i7 6700k, 32GB DDR4 RAM, RTX 2080, Oculus CV1. Tried lowering settings down to minium.. no help. Tried repairing. No help. Updated windows. Updated video drivers. etc. No help. It seems like in single player it's much better. On multiplayer it jumps all over the place. Even tried reinstalling Oculus.. no good. Nothing helps.

Was getting 45-90 fps in VR before recent update, now I'm getting 20fps in the Hornet. The recent update where the texture for the F-14 wings on the bottom was missing. That update KILLED my VR performance and now it's UNPLAYABLE. I have the most recent video drives. I have done a repair. Still having the issue. Nothing seems to increase the fps. I have a RTX 2080, 32gb RAM, i7 6700k, Oculus Rift CV1. The VR performance was even a little higher since before they started doing performance updates for VR but now it's absolute crap. The thing I noticed is if I play offline I get 90fps. It did drop from that before while on multiplayer but it rarely dropped below 45fps. Doesn't matter what server they all do it. When I'm on the server browser my FPS is ALL over the place too.. from 15fps to 90 fps... just keeps jumping up and down constantly. Seems like whenever there is network activity it goes to hell. Help I can't play DCS anymore! Not with FPS like this... it would make me sick and I refuse to play it on my screen. Even on screen performance is down (but of course higher then VR). What happened here ED? Why is it suddenly so bad?

I really wish they would fix this bug. I would like to use the damn carrier on multiplayer.

Dirt, Nails....and Jester Call outs
csdigitaldesign replied to Matic_Prime's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Watch these. There's too much to list here. You will find this information very useful in DCS World. DCS: Radio Terminology/ Brevity codes/Ordnance codes Tutorial: Explained: Reapers Brevity Training & Aircraft Coms: -
I disagree with this. at least in part. People just don't know how to make proper use of them. Certainly there are times where a AH is not a good idea... but you can use them more often then some people realize. It just takes more planning and thought to stay alive...and more patience to get out to a target because they are not fast.
-
You are flying too high. If you want to stay undetected you need to stay under radar. Gotta use that terrain to hide! Also if there's a plane above you and pointed down at you.. yes you are harder for the radar to spot close to the ground but it STILL CAN pick you up. You gotta put terrain between you and it.. also flying very low makes it a LOT harder for them to visually spot you. I often fly all over without getting shot down because I'm not noticed very often. Don't give them ways to notice you. You won't live long if they do. Yes you can avoid AWACS if low enough and there's obstacles in the way. Don't expect to stay off AWACS in the middle of a flat desert if it has a "line of sight" vector on you... meaning he could be far enough out to not see.. but radar can see better than eyes (duh). I often fly very low (less then 30 ft like you said) if I think there's little cover because it might still work. Speed has little to do with it really.. I mean, there's notching of course just like in a plane.. but even if you were flying directly at them or away from them it would be harder to see a low flying, much slower then a jet, helicopter on radar. But if you think they are trying to spot you on radar, notch it anyways because every little bit can help. If you want an extreme example that this DOES work.. I've killed an SA-10 and SA-15 SAM site with a KA-50 many times before. They have such a large range you can't even get REMOTELY close enough with your weapons to kill it if you are at a higher altitude. They have a weakness, even if it's a flat desert. They can't scan lower then 10ft. Yes, I said 10ft. You have to literally HUG the ground as you get closer to it. The further out you are from it the slightly higher you can be. But my general rule of thumb is stay under 50ft at all times and as you start to get closer get VERY LOW. You have to fly that helicopter like it's a car driving on the ground just about. It works though. You can get close enough to take it out like that. Just do it at max range as they often have OTHER types of launchers that DO NOT have that 10ft height limitation but rather have a much more limited range (like a Tunguska)... and if you get to close those will still lock you and kill you easy.

Would love to hear how the progress is on the F-15E!

All that stuff is in the SAME document and when you ask them for that document with stuff in it that's still classified, guess what, they will tell you it's classified. Doesn't matter if only one thing or all things are classified. We already know the 1A document is classified. The only thing left in there that's keeping it classified is the IRST. So you are basically saying "Oh no, it's definitely classified because the document is classified, all of it"... but you do so without really doing any research to find that you can FIND INFORMATION easily about those other systems. You can't find ANYTHING about that IRST... because that's what classified. And that is talked about in that document... and thus why it's still classified. That was the whole point I tried to show Heatblur.... and they are looking into it to see if they can't lobby them to give them all non-classified information from the supplemental manual. All the stuff back when the manual was made WAS classified. All of it. All of it is no longer classified, only in part... and that part is holding it back from being released. The U.S. Government isn't going to go back and rewrite all that especially stuff about a decommission plane just so that only the parts that are still classified are in that document. They just will leave it classified until it in its entirety is no longer classified.
-
I never said I need or could BUILD one.. but heatblur doesn't need to BUILD one.. they need to know how it operates so they can use it in a sim. Considering the specs are the type of thing they need... I don't see a problem. Also, if it's so classified why is that information on the net at all? That makes zero sense. Try looking up the IRST from the F-14D... you literally can't find ANYTHING about it other then stuff saying it exists etc.
-
Yeah after talking to somebody from Heatblur I'm under no delusions (not that I was before) that they aren't doing their damnedest to try and make a F-14D. We can't fault them in the least.
-
There's nothing classified about the ANAPG71. It took me a whopping 5 minutes to find documents about it's performance, testing, variants, technical data... all in one report on the internet. And this report was back from 1999. I don't know if it was classified back then and it was just released later or not.. but CURRENTLY it's information that the public has now. It's NOT classified.
-
Why does everyone say this when the D is brought up? NOBODY said we should tell them to stop working on the A and B... they should finish that. But when they are done, if they are able and want to.. what's wrong with them making a D? SHEESH.
-
WHO is harassing them? That's a dumb thing to say. They want to make a F-14D just as much as we want one. I was trying to HELP them do that... I don't see how that's HARASSMENT. If they told me no, we aren't doing a F-14D I would not say another word.
-
It has ZERO to do with Iran flying F-14s.
-
Nobody is saying Heatblur should do anything illegal or without permission. They just need to get the documentation approval legally. Most of the information on the F-14D is not a problem. NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A is the issue.
-
Actually I've done some research and found the ONLY reason Heatblur can't make the F-14D yet is because of the document NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A... which includes it's weapons systems, radar, IRST, LANTIRN, Electonic Warfare systems, etc. The NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1 document is easily found on the net and details most of the aircraft except for those systems. At the time they separated that document BECAUSE most of that was classified. Today only 1 system from what I can tell in that document is still classified. The AN/AAS−42 Infrared Search and Track System. Why? Because the AN/AAS−42 Infrared Search and Track System became the Legion Pod which is made by Lockheed and is still used today by the government. That's what's currently holding the NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A back from be declassifed. Not because of any export planes or anything like that. Hopefully Heatblur might find a way to get the REST of the information from that document minus the chapter about the IRST.. but don't hold your breath. I just keep some hope in the back of my head...and we can just wait and see. Anyways Heatblur already have documentation on MOST of the systems from the NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1 document. Unfortunately it's not enough for them to make the D. They need that last bit.
-
The D's capabilities has nothing to do with anything being classified. It has nothing to do with exported A models. In fact almost all of the planes information is on the web publicly. Like I stated in a response before.. it's the IRST module that's keeping a sub manual for the F-14D classified. You can also find the majority of it's systems very well documented all over the net. Search for NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1 and you will see.
-
Actually, there's a NAVAIR 01-F14AAD-1A document that is being held by the US Government and is classified still. However it seems to me that it's not because most of the stuff in there anymore.. it comes down to the AN/AAS−42 Infrared Search and Track System which evolved into the Lockheed Legion Pod which is still used by modern planes and IS classified. I've been talking to Heatblur about the whole thing... we'll see if there's anything they can do about getting the OTHER information in the 1A manual that's not classified.. but who knows.. unfortunately they need that document to be able to model the F-14D properly. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
