  1. A dedicated 3 gig card isn't enough IMO. How full is your SSD? If your drive is beyond 50% capacity That would be my first move, followed up with a minimum 8gig card somewhere down the road. Considering how cheep the RAM upgrade is, throwing $27 at it to potentially get some performance gains isn't the worst idea I've ever heard if cash is tight. Your weathering skills are en pointe. I'm building a 1/72 Hasegawa with a resin cockpit and intakes/nozzles. I must say the small size has made it the most challenging build I've ever attempted. I'm hoping I can get it to look as good as yours. I usually go for a 1/48 kit, this is my 1st 1/72 and might be my last lol
  2. mission editor = all the cold starts you can handle. you just tick one box. I can literally do it in about 20 seconds.
  3. I recently purchased Supercarrier and the NTTR map as they are a requirement for a virtual squadron I just joined. The Su-33 is now in my module manager and I really don't recall it being present before these purchases, although I could be mistaken. Is there some sort of promotion going on currently or has some sort of error occurred? I'm hesitant to install it as I didn't purchase it, I'm not going to enjoy something people worked hard on without paying for it. I searched around the internet and see no mention of a demo or free weekend promo currently in effect.
  4. maybe a screenshot of that control bind interface just to confirm you got things where they need to be if you can manage?
  5. thats the manliest shit I've ever read on this forum, get medieval.:gun_rifle::punk:
  6. I don't have the x56 so i'm not sure what a pov dial is exactly. I looked at a picture of it, I'm assuming you are talking about what I hear referred to as " the china hat". The first week I owned DCS I had this bound to the china hat on my joystick while I waited for trackIR to show up. main menu>options>controls from here you can select a sub menu for different groupings of keybinds. You are looking for "VIEW COCKPIT" in this sub menu scroll to the bottom, there is a list of controls like "view down, view up, view up-left, ect" this is where I bound my 8 way china to also in the "VIEW" sub menu (directly above VIEW COCKPIT) there are keybinds for "view up slow, view down slow, view up-left slow ect" I'm fairly positive that's what you are looking for. If it's not get back to me I'll try to help you get it sorted.
  7. yeah turns out there are 2 locations where ez comms can be turned on or off. Your main sim settings and again in the mission file via the editor. I initially only turned off the main setting not even knowing it was a mission specific option too. Once both were off I could operate the radios independent of each other. Just a little FYI there in case anyone ever runs into this problem themselves.
  8. yeah it was like pulsing, i thought it was an airplane at first but it didn't move at all. The guy made an observation, no one is bitching. The thread didn't have a shitty vibe until you showed up and injected it so thanks for that. DCS is different things to different people, I'll focus on whatever I want. For the time being flying at night looking for constellations is pretty fucking cool
  9. That may have been the problem too. I probably kept dropping out of the glide scope looking down at the keyboard instead of flying the ball all the way in. That being said I caught my 1st "ok 3wire" on a CASEIII last night, never thought I'd be able to pull that off.:joystick:
  10. There is no hotkey to fold/unfold the ladder. He means in reality the ground crew just un-folds the ladder, the pilot climbs in and then they fold it up and stow it again.
  11. I was flying the Caucuses the other night at 40,000ft on auto pilot, it was late and I was falling asleep. I was sitting there with my head back just looking at the stars. I noticed a rather large red shaded star, I think it's mars but I'm not positive. It was to the west maybe 15-20 deg above the horizon. I was looking for some constellations but i only know 2 and didn't see either one. That's pretty cool, I assumed it was just random little points of light. I see your night sky is blotchy too, I was thinking I had a graphics card issue. Nice observation, thanks for sharing.
  12. check out bullet point 9
  13. I second that I own it as well. 2 years in and no issues. That TARGET software got deleted 5 minutes after I installed it. My one gripe is no pinky trigger. If it had that Id never buy another stick again if I could avoid it. For $60 the throttle is great. Really precise and modeled nearly exactly like the hornet. I didn't like the feel of it at first out of the box. It was really grabby and kinda hard to move it without sliding it around. There is a rudimentary tension adjustment I loosened up and slapped some graphite powder up in there and she feels real nice now. I bought the whole flight pack, I think it was like $350 or so. The T160000M stick has a slider on the base you can use as a throttle control and it twists too for rudder control. Honestly you could just buy the stick and have everything you need to fly. The only alternative to this set up is the Warthog or something from VIRPIL IMO and then we're talking $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  14. I figured it out. Was trying to call it between .8 and .7 NM. It doesn't even show up in the menu until around .6 - .5 NM. I'll look into setting up a hot key and will DL that guide. Thank you for your guidance.
  15. It never shows up. I watched wags tutorial, looks like it shows up automatically for him. All I ever get is abort inbound(no), Clara(no) and Flight Kiss Off (WTF is this?). Pressing flight kiss off The text reads in the upper right but my pilots voice is never heard and no one responds to anything. I roll out in the groove and all the way in these are the only options I get. There is no explaination of what flight kiss off is in the manual, when and how to use it. Also menu diving to find these while trying to perform the most difficult task in aviation without crashing is really beyond frustrating. I tried to make a macro for ball call, but all I get is Clara. Manually selecting ball call the option is never in the menu only abort, clara and kiss off. Thank you in advance for your help.
  16. after much hair pulling I managed to get the radio to behave the way I expected this morning. Was a combination of my settings and ignorance of the system. Thanx again for taking 5 seconds to point me in the right direction.
  17. EZ Comms and radio assists are confirmed off. Problem persists, trackfile included plz help? Tacview-20201108-165537-DCS-NightTraining.zip
  18. Dove in real quick and yes it was on. It is now turned off. I'm gonna go test and report back. Thank you so much for your help.
  19. Hi, I'm having some trouble using the radios and adf beacons. This is what I'm seeing. Flying on the Caucuses map, I set COMM2 to the ADF beacon over Tbilisi (113.700) manually and switch the ADF source swtich to COMM2. Then change COMM1 to ATC,AWACS,FLIGHT ect. THe adf is tuned in and I get the heading cue on my HSI. Then I go to COMM1 and try to talk to whoever, I then lose my heading cue and COMM2 changes to whatever freq I'm using on COMM1. I don't get why I have 2 radios if using one changes the channel on the other? Can someone explain to me what I'm missing or is this some sort of bug. Please I'm so confused, I had trouble sleeping last night trying to wrap my brain around this.
  20. I didn't get BFM at all, I was totally lost and clueless. I found a thread where they talked about this. I watched it and it all made sense the 1st time through. I was killing the AI bandit's every time shortly after that. It's kinda cheesy but it's cool and a fun watch with tons of good info. I think the parts about attack geometry and energy management are what helped me the most.
  21. What is SEAD doing the whole time? Do they RTB as soon as they are winchester? I took a closer look and you are right the f-14's look like they are fleet protection only and never push inland. My strat is like this: Loiter 5 and let SEAD and the destroyers do their thing, turn and burn for the target, send wingbro in 1st while I turn the closest mig over kobuleti defensive. Wingbro pickles, as soon as I hear that order him RTB and I go cold on the mig if he aint dead already, make my run and get the hell outta dodge. Wish me luck.............. UPDATE: 1st try got wingbro to pickle and got mission complete RTB but the MiG's got me BVR like 3 seconds after. My fox1 missed and I blew the notch trying to steer that 1st shot all the way in. I shoulda tossed a second one at him no escape but I really wanted to try save it for #2. On the 2nd try I bagged the 1st two MiG's. 1st one took me two aim-7's and I got a kill. I engaged at 30,000ft+ maybe 33,000 at 4-500knts fox1 and dove negative g pushover to 20K co-altitude.( I think that's frowned upon IRL? I heard they like to keep positive g on the airframe i dunno.) I don't know what range I fired the 2nd shot but that's the one that hit. I notched at least one shot I don't know where it came from. A long range fox 1 so I assume the second MiG. I never saw it come off the rail but RWR wasn't happy. I merged with Fulcrum#2 and pulled hard. I didn't watch my speed I probly coulda got a faster turn if I slowed down a bit after the merge. I wanted to go two circle but I saw he wasn't turning after the merge. I knew he was going for my #2 when I saw that so I knew I didn't have much time as he was starting on his run in. I lost him in the ground clutter, got a lucky radar lock AACQ mode 1st try at close range probly 3-5 Nm. We both fox 2'd at the same time. 5 seconds sooner I woulda had him I think. Both missiles fired hit their targets. I'm pretty sure mine was dead but I instinctually fired a second fox 2 for insurance. I'm out of missiles, I was panicking and hauled ass out to sea and dropping like 10,000 feet straight down in full burner to about 3,000 ft. I was doing like 700 knots! That's fast for a hornet pilot i guess haha. I was hauling ass but I pulled out of it somehow without ripping all the bombs off the pylons.. Got my head together and realized I gotta make a bomb run NOW! I turned for my run into the target. This is where I had trouble, I fumbled around getting mk84's set up and lost some airspeed. Looked up and saw 2 contrails high above me headed out to sea. It was the other 2 MiG's! They had turned and got into the fight. I thought my high cap had engaged them and they had by the looks of the SA. All four contacts were nose hot on each other while I was flanking to the north right thru the middle of them. I felt I was safe for my run in, I had a few seconds with the MiG's tied up. Fumbled around again finding the target while I was trying to designate it, one of those high MiG's broke into a split S, dove about 10,000 ft and slipped in right on my six but I didn't see it. I looked at SA for a split second at one point and saw he was close but didn't notice what way he was pointing or which way I was going. At this point I was overloaded and short circuiting. I thought surely he was engaged by CAP, I didn't look close enough and had no visual. I was tunnel vision on the MFD's and HUD trying to do a bomb run. He fox 2'd me, no radar lock. I never saw it coming. It was badass, straight up merc'ed(Rick James: Coldblooded!) I watched for about another 90 seconds. My high CAP bagged his MiG that stayed up top. The leader who got me bugged out. This is totally doable IMO. It's all about disposing those 2 MiG's ASAP and getting on the bombing run quick. I got overloaded and slowed way down. That was the busiest I've ever been in the cockpit. Gimme a day or two I feel like I can get this with a better BVR/ACM game. More energy for the 1st BVR shot defo. All you can bottle up. like 35K @ Mach 1.2, lofted, at a AOA of45 lol. I'm not the most competent in A2A and I haven't flown in about 2 weeks, I need to practice with the mk-84's a little I don't use 'em much. I'm thinking of telling wingbro to hold at waypoint 2 until I can get the 1st 2 MiG's killed. One AMRAAM and this is a cakewalk, did they have em in '89? UPDATE2: Tacview-20201031-184717-DCS-Hornet 1989-OCA.zip 1st try. Wingman got the ground kills. My BVR/ACM was shit. 3 shots, 3 misses, Lost sight, dead. That was my bad. Look how different it was than I remember. I shot everything at one dude. I only remember the 1st one. UPDATE3: Tacview-20201031-191719-DCS.zip Look what my #2 did when I told him to engage and RTB. He got fired on and went defensive I think. I didn't get out in front enough to protect him like last time. Look who got shot it wasn't my #2 he went home lol (fuck this shit!). SEAD was fighting down on the deck, firing up at the MiG's. Look how slow and dumb I'm flying on my bomb run trying to figure shit out. If wingman ran in like the 1st time and I wasn't doing 180Knts in a straight line I think I might have beat it with 3 out of the 4 ship still alive. Who really knows though? I'll try again tomorrow.
  22. It tells you to loiter 5 min before you even push in. SEAD is defo set up to engage A2A. You shouldn't be arriving on station the same time as them.
  23. Threw the file in the editor. 2's advanced waypoints are programmed as follows 1. Restrict air2air attack/on 2. The targets he is defined to attack are all ground targets. remove those...bob's ur uncle it appears you have a high CAP of 4 F-14's in this mission. What are they doing the whole time? Four cats with aim-54's, with that around I dunno why you would even consider going near those MiGs w. bombs on your wings. This sounds like their job and you are supposed to hang back and wait till thats done. Are you like in full burner flying way ahead of your strike package? I stole this from wikipedia: Offensive Counter-Air (OCA) is a military term for the suppression of an enemy's military air power, primarily through ground attacks targeting enemy air bases: disabling or destroying parked aircraft, runways, fuel facilities, hangars, air traffic control facilities and other aviation infrastructure. You're playing the wrong role in the mission. You are insuring russia's air power is crippled before your carrier group leaves the area unable to provide air cover in the area. Let CAP handle the Fulcrums, you and wingbro smash up the airfield would be my strategy.
  24. he's your wingman..... F3 cover me. Game on. You're lead, take charge.
  25. Simple Radio Standalone...voice comms for MP. Has filters on it so you sound all mid-rangy and distorted like on an actual radio. It's pretty cool and adds a lot of immersion to the game IMO.
