  1. Getting frustrated is like the last thing u wanna do during AAR. This skillset took me longer to learn than anything else in dcs. I woke up an hour early every day and practiced before work. By wednesday I was hitting the basket. By friday I could hit and stay connected for the entire transfer. Practice your formation flying and have a good foothold in that before you try to do AAR. It will make it alot easier as all AAR is formation flying with the tanker. The bug is that AAR is too ez in DCS. It's comical how bad you can miss and still connect to the basket.
  2. .I'm building a night training mission to log more night seat time. After start up and INS align, switching to NAV the moving map never comes up on the MPCD. The HSI is visible and functions but the map is missing. I have MAP boxed under MODE. My daytime training mission the map works? I'm flying on the Caucusus map, I attached a track. Can anyone offer anything on this? map fail.trk
  3. "abort takeoff"
  4. i've seen a page on the ddi somewhere that give the gps coordinates of every tacan station on the map. If you want to plug them into the UFC for that kind of thing. I can't recall exactly where they are located atm. I might do a flight this evening if I do i'll look for it. They might be on the kneeboard pages too I can't remember. edit* HSI>DATA>TCN : use PB 12 & 13 to cycle up and down the list
  5. if it would help with the glare off the DDI's sometimes I'm all for it. Sometimes actually hold my hand up to try to block the sun so I can read the screen.
  6. BIt fail and INS ATT message Here is a track of the issues I'm having. I tried to show everything I could think of. Shutdown and restart procedure is at the end of the flight. INS ATT.trk
  7. I've been trying to figure it out for months. The other day had Bit test not initiate and stick input was ineffective after shut down and restart on the stennis. Was playing with stuff, unfolded the wings and the BIT test ran as usual after the wings unfolded. Going to try again maybe tomorrow night. I always set parking break 1st thing after coming to a stop so I know that wasn't the issue. Ever since I got the hornet I figured I was shutting it down wrong. What I am unsure of is weather or not NWS is actuated on the restart. Will have to pay closer attention to it next time. Also had INS ATT caution message after restart on left DDI. I have no clue what that means or what to do about it either. Also Standby Attitude Reference Indicator would not uncage after restart.
  8. ok yeah makes sense as these were pretty long range shots attempting to make them go defensive. It defo isn't the radar losing track as it was still boxed up and I had L&S from the STT trackfile. Thank you.
  9. So was practicing BVR tactics againg Mig-29's this morning using Aim-7. Most of the shots I fired gave me a "LOST" cue displayed on the hud after 4-5 seconds even though I had the steering dot inside the circle and still had my STT track locked up on the radar. What does "Lost" mean, what causes it, how do I keep it from happening? Yes I know the AMRAAM is better at BVR so please don't just say use the AMRAAM. Thanks again.
  10. I launched one (AGM_65F) today it was x'ed out until I locked on. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use AGM-65E with the TGP and not having much luck so far.
  11. I have a mission with a SB-3 flying as a tanker. I have him doing an orbit at 15,000 feet and he is set up to RTB on bingo fuel. His last waypoint is a landing waypoint which automatically snaps to the stennis. He will go to the stennis and fly in circles with his hook down until he runs out of fuel and crashes. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.
  12. I do a cold start off the carrier every time I play. Like Rennes I only ever see the Gen Tie message on a shut down and restart scenario. That being said any time I shut down the plane doesn't act right when I restart. FCS issues mainly along with the Gen Tie and INS too. I don't know if I'm shutting down improperly or what. A cold start right from spawn has always been 100% successful for me.
  13. It also stops when you get a fuel lo warning ask me how I know.
  14. i set them to pos B but im thinking A would work just as good if you just want the radios. Dont quote me on that i dont have the placard in front of me atm.
  15. Notching would be placing a threat at your 3 or 9 o clock position and holding it there. Cranking would be typically your f-pole maneuver or a series of right and left turns at certain timing intervals. Use of chaff and flares increases effectiveness. Notching should typically be done as soon as RWR starts yelling at you. A crank is pretty important to get the timing down right it happens a lot slower than you would think. You just gotta stay cool and wait for the right time. I myself am a strong believer in the f-pole for missile avoidance and the notch just to hide from radar. But it can depend on the situation like weapon types, airspeed, altitude or whatever. There are lots of good tutorials on each tactic on youtube I really suggest watching some they go into really good detail.

i stole this from wikipedia "This program concluded development but the Navy decided not to procure the weapon."
  17. 1. TDC depress 2. use TDC 3. use UFC 4. plz watch the video
  18. Ive clipped through the current version of the stennis and there is a detailed hangar bay below deck. I'm almost certain they wouldn't spend time modeling such a big detailed area if we were not going to have access to it. If you use F9 and zoom way in and move the camera around just right you can see inside and it's pretty awesome.
  19. i dont see how we could get on the elevators without it
  20. can u link that thread?
  21. video works fine and that howl at the beginning sounds rad.
  22. u guys are under 33,000lbs when you land or no? I've never had an issue using more that 50% of the runway to slow down.
  23. Just deselecting wypt from ampcd seems to fix it. I got 9 good hits with GBU-16 then ran into a problem where the laser would fire for about a second and then stop. I was holding the trigger down too. Once that started happening I tried spamming the trigger and got one to miss by about 30 ft. Not sure what happened there???
  24. it will hold you at whatever orientation you are at when you engage AP. So if you are straight and level on initial operation then yes.
  25. yes ive noticed setting QTY seems to affect their accuracy seems they are falling short. where as just spamming weapon release they hit right on.
