1. flying faster will cause you to have to release sooner too giving more time to arm.
2. i may not be thinking of what you are talking about but mine is set to an axis on my throttle?? I tried a knob and it didn't work, it needs to be something that will return to a center detent. Using the knob would only give you one extreme or the other unless you rolled the knob back to dead center manually. Which was really hard to aim the antenna right where you wanted it without several seconds of adjusting the knob just so.
3. I struggled with this when I first started playing with unguided bombs. It seemed the lowest i could go to get them to arm was 1200ft and I was 600+ knts. That's pretty low, I'm thinking that's the issue. How fast are you going and did u try the snakeye variant?
4. unplug the rudders and see if it will engage then??
5. In the menu for selecting armament there is no option to choose between the two. It's either tracer rounds or not. I don't think it's implemented yet, i just leave it set at whatever, it doesn't seem to matter which one you set it at. Training mission says to select M50 so thats what I do.
6. use map/mission planner, get coordinates for targets, use coordinates to program waypoints for targets, fly to waypoint, blow up stuff, go home, don't get killed. Last part is the hardest part for me. thats for AG targets, as far as i can tell we are limited to this for locating targets. Sometimes JTAC will paint them for you. We need the TPOD, ground radar and FLIR and then it's party time.:holiday: A/A gotta scan em down with the radar and lock em up. pretty basic there. I'm pretty green still but this is how I do it, perhaps some of our veterans can suggest another way?
7. hey i filled it up for the first time tonight, i disconnected a couple times because i was sloppy but I saw some actual improvement. Up until tonight I've never stayed connected for more than maybe 10 seconds. The two tips that helped the most was not trying to stab it in at the last second if you are off, backing up and re-trying and taking a little curve out of my x and y axis. A big relief I thought I wasn't gonna be able to do it at all.
8. roger that thanks boys.
9. I've tried to lock these up with the HARM system and haven't had any luck yet. Is it possible? I've only played around with fighting them in the editor so I may not have set them up properly or something I don't know. also...So when RWR sounds like a Brittish ambulance that only indicates someone has you locked up and a missile hasn't been launched yet right? I never hear the rapid audio alarm, RWR doesn't draw any lines to emitters, nothing seems to move to the critical band. I am assuming these are IR missiles killing me? I'm kinda ok in a guns only fight but I'm starting to get into modern BVR and in close missile fights and I'm not doing so good at not getting shot. Or even knowing where they are coming from for that matter. I didn't think it was possible to lock up a target with an IR guided missile BEFORE the merge, but that seems to be what is happening to me. Can anyone help clarify what exactly that audio tone implies? It's the first mission in the campaign for F-18 "Alert 5". I tried it for the first time last night and really had no clue WTF was happening lol.
10. I like the joystick a lot, the throttle while the buttons/functions are plentiful doesn't "feel" so nice. I removed all the grease and applied graphite lube and loosened the tension screw way off and it feels a little smoother but aside from that it's been a nice setup so far. FYI the computer seems to consider the stick and the throttle quad as 2 separate controllers. Which makes sense but I've come across setting up PTT on the stick will make the corresponding button on the throttle PTT as well. So I cue my mike every time I extend my airbrake for example(there are 2 identically named buttons in the system rather than each of the 29-30 buttons having it's own designation) I wish it recognized it as one system and each button would have it's own designation rather than sharing. Just some things I've noticed so far. Nothing major to report...enjoy!
11. Just curious to go from 2-3000 lbs to full takes approx how long? Yesterday I hit the basket 4 times and the guy in the tanker says "transfer complete.....disconnecting" immediately after i connect. It really felt like a bug but I haven't heard anyone else having the same experience. I saved the track if anyone is interested.
12. BFM is never "by the book" it's just not how it works. There are plenty of resources online of these tactics. It's not about knowing how to do them but when and why, and also when not to. Practicing them in a fluid dynamic dogfight is the only way you will learn to fight. Go watch "The Art of the Kill" on you tube. Not one mention of any single maneuver, turned me from a scrub to halfway competent in one hour. If you listen to what he tells you, you will find yourself just doing the maneuvers without even realizing it. Nothing about BFM is classified. There are no top secret moves.
13. im not asking for a cheat, I want to do this for real so bad. My probe just floats through the basket after connecting. Sometimes it doesnt connect at all just goes straight through the basket. I've connected several times for a good 10-12 seconds and then the basket just floats away. It's pretty cool when it comes inside my cockpit when i miss too LMFAO!!!
14. this is the file path i used... it doesn't work. can anyone please help? C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\VPC Airfield Equipment NM i got it, I was confused because my saved games folder did not have a "Mods" folder in it. I took a chance and created my own folder titled "Mods", dropped it in that and it works now. C:\Users\jonpo\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\tech\VPC Airfield Equipment
15. CCIP FTW
16. Sounds like you got a bad case of PIO...pilot induced ocillation. I'm not experienced enough to tell you how to stop it. Someone told me not to look at the basket but to focus on the fuel pod under the wing. It helped me a little but i'm still not very good at AAR yet.
17. i dont think reviewing a module before it's finished is really giving it a fair shake. I hope you plan on updating that review often.
18. I found this it works perfectly and you can edit it to suit your taste. The only downer is you need to replace the file at each update. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300689/?sphrase_id=16155087
19. roger thats exactly what I was after. I should have worded that differently. Thank you.
20. If I do this will I lose all my keybinds and settings? I've spent literally weeks getting everything just right. Went to do my first multiplayer session, I need open beta to play with them. Installed open beta and everything is back to square one. I don't have enough room on my SSD to have both. I'm not deleting the stable version unless I can import those settings somehow or retain them by updating the stable version into the beta version. Multiplayer sounds so much fun but this could be a deal breaker:cry:

HARM

HI I'm back. So I'm trying to learn how to use this weapon. I set up a EWR 1L13 unit on the russian border and flew to it. I can see the icon for the emitter on the EW page. I send that to my hud and I can see the line pointing to the emitter but the icon is not at the end of the line and I can't box it to fire the missile at it. I can however box up what I assume is the carrier I have steaming out in the black sea. Are you not able to fire HARMS at the EWR 1L13? Thanks. EDIT* so it seems this weapon is effective against search and tracking radars but not against early warning units as I can lock on to all of them besides the EWR. So either this isn't finished yet, it is bugged, or you are not able to home in on EWR type emitters at all with AGM-88C.
22. I was curious about this so I did some research this morning. Climb 300 is the climb gradient. ATC is instructing you to climb at a rate of 300 ft/Nm.
23. I've noticed it consistently takes 3 presses of the on/off button on the UFC to activate the TACCAN navigation equipment. Not sure if it's just me, a bug, the way it operates in real life? But it doesn't seem like it's turning on the way it should. I apologize if this has been addressed, I did a search and found no results. I guess I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed it?
24. ahh ok i understand now thank you sir
