i eventually figured this out on my own. I assumed the tracking was updated live in real time. It was never explained to me this is not how it works. All I was saying is it might help other people if they knew this information. I'm also trying to figure out if this is actually how it works in the real airplane or is this WIP stuff. Armed with this important information firing IR mavs is no longer an issue for me.

Struggled with this all last week. Searched for a few days for some sort of info on the real functionality and couldn't really turn up much beside a few video tutorials. Neither of which mention this issue BTW. It needs to be more clear to users the target designation does not update continuously in p track mode. I Had a convoy running through the forest in a mountain valley. Just locating the convoy is a challenge. I designate the target but would wait to come around the orbit so I could roll into the valley to pickle and not smash into the mountain on the egress. By the time I was ready the target point was so far behind the convoy the IMAV FLIR just showed an empty road. I could not figure out what I was locking up with the TDC. I could see it actively tracking my mover, but IMAV was looking somewhere totally different. It just seemed pointed at like a random point on the map. I was considering making a bug report but couldn't get much attention on the subject from anyone. Once I realized that the target designation isn't live, I'm now able to at least get one shot off per pass. Previous to this knowledge I couldn't even get one shot to rifle so progress was made. But at least now I know I wasn't the only one confused by this.

HEy um,,,this is like way to ez. I can slip these dudes every time if i go SIL on the radar and put em in a notch. Something isn't set up right. How can I make him be hyper aggressive? If I set up an AWACS for him will it help him find me. I like tryin to sneak out when im low on fuel or weapons but it's just to ez now. I have everything like ROE= weapon free and radar continuous search. I can sneak up behind him and lock him up and he just keeps flying straight and level till im maybe 1.5 Nm away and then he goes evasive. Like locked up with aim-120 for like 45 seconds while i close the gap, no reaction.

Thanks for adding the upvoting. Hey it would be cool if we could vote down posts. Users would gain a rep displayed in their profile, later.

mission planning and waypoints can help with finding your targets quickly also the SA page can show you exactly where on the ground the TGP is looking in relation to your airplane. Fly an orbit overhead to look for targets, that way you can loiter for a long time. I usually orbit counter clockwise like 15 miles out from the general area im scoping.

Make sure to tell wingbro to cover you before the fight and turn all your lights out. You really gotta fence in quick you don't have time to mess around. You are flight lead so act like it, full burner, wingbro at line abreast or echelon right. Being super aggressive here before the fight will pay off. You have to hit the mig 29's from as far out as you can before you merge with the SU-24's. You're gonna haveta learn how to see their missiles come off the rail because they throw long range IR's at you so no radar warning. Once the Mig-s are dead flank the Su-24's. Get out from in front of them!!! If you stay in front of them one will for sure take a very close range shot at you. The carrier will start sending SAM's their way shortly after your first fox 1. The bombers will have to go defensive at that point. Now you can slip in behind them and pick them off with aim-9 or the bullet. The BVR game in this one is everything. That's how I do that one, it really used to kick my ass but I was terrible at BVR at first. If you merge with the Mig's something has gone terribly wrong. You gotta do some real pilot shit to get outta that .

[REPORTED] AGM65F+TGP locking issue (bug?)
KittyVCAW-1 replied to Burner1111's topic in Bugs and Problems
Can you plz confirm this issue was with the E variant of the Maverick and not the F? I'm Having similar problems with the tgp handoff over to the MAV seeker for the IRMAV. On the handoff the seeker slews to tracked moving target but the crosshair is off a bit never centered on the tracked tgp target? -

Hi, Flying Caucuses mission "Hornet 1989: CAS" it's mission 2 in the free campaign included with the hornet. I'm droppng cbu-99 onto a convoy of BMP-2's. I haven't scored a kill yet the NPC blue forces typically polish these guys off as my bombs seem to be impotent against these targets. No problems arming or getting the bombs to detonate. Tacview is scoring hits but I have not yet destroyed any vehicles in the convoy. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong here?

key bindings are all grey, cage/uncage is set to same as always. Ran the scenario again and in the heat off the moment forgot to go to the seeker only for a lock but scored two pretty cool kills. Will keep trying to reproduce. 2kills.trk -

Aim-9x question, please help.

This exact thing happened to me just now. I came in here out of sheer curiosity to just to see what was up and you just happen to be talking about exactly what happened. It just so happened I scored a rad ground kill to complete the mission so I saved a track file. Maybe someone could take a look if they find time.....ok just went to watch the track for continuity but it's just me getting blown out of the sky haha. Yeah I killed the first bandit with AACQ mode, fox 2. Then went for the second shot with just the seeker head no radar assit. Went to uncage the seeker and it never tracked and couldn't get a tone. I made 3 attempts to get a tone and switched to radar assist gun, shot, him and he smashed into a hillside. :joystick:. I dont fly usually with the JHMCS on and didn't this time. I do have random failures on and it may have been that i don't know. Still made me have to change my game plan quickly and think fast. It was pretty cool really. If it acts up again i'll try another trackfile. Groundkill.trk -
practice your BFM, ACM and BVR tactics. Do lots of guns only fights to start out and learn how to turn. Once u are consistent in that move to IR fights and eventually the BVR mind games. All those 1v1 and 2v2 4v4 missions. Do them until you are blue in the face and get into PVP ASAP.

My armored units used to sit and wait at waypoint 0 for hours until some trucks drove into a zone i created. Then they would take off and engage the trucks as they drove into the zone to end the mission. After I updated last night now they just take off as soon as the mission starts. I played around with stuff trying to fix it and who knows how I had it set up now. So I just deleted the units and zones and started over and I can't get them to behave like that anymore. They just drive to the zone the trucks should be in but aren't yet as soon as the mission starts blowing up all ground targets I'm supposed to blow up along the way. By the time I take off and fly there they have killed everything already. Can anyone please help me get this set back up? Like something changed or I am missing something here it seems?
