  1. Back in the days of il-2 gaming we aimed to have about 80 FPS as this was the point where the game would flow silky smooth. 60 FPS was still a bit choppy and more than 80 FPS was useless.

  4. Just thought than when you're piloting in real cockpit you refocus constantly, looking sequentially inside (instrument panel) and outside (horizon etc). Virtual pilots don't have to do that, so that would become an additional workload with OVR. And a good training for the eyes )
  5. Probably the FPS would drop twice because there would be 2 frames rendered simultaneously. Though it's the case where i would be happy to have such an FPS drop )
  6. That was just an example when you can't really tell the vehicle type even if you see bright coloured specks on it. That's quite normal, afaik.

Well, those dudes in A-10s positively identified big orange dayglo panels on tops of a group of five Spartan APCs (British), however, they couldn't tell if those specks on the ground were APCs or "flatbed trucks" as they said or "rocket launchers with orange rockets".   8. BTW, you can calculate the angular width of your monitor (in degrees) and set this FOV width in the game, so your monitor would act like a window. To do that, you need to: * measure your screen width and the distance from your eyes to the monitor (doesn't matter if that would be inches or cm); * Put that data into the Excel file and get FOV width; * Change the default FOV in game by editing SnapViews.lua (in BlackShark, it's in the ...Ka-50\Config\View\). At the end of file, there will be your line Snap[9][13]["viewAngle"] = 89.777544238285 --- Excel file: http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=40058&d=1276657673 Don't get surprised about how small is your actual FOV! ) It's not very practical, but worth trying if you're interested.

  14. Технически это возможно, пример - запускаем Ил-2 и переходим на внешний вид на самолет с широким полем зрения. Могу и видео сделать, если успею. В DCS:W будет работать трек с видом из кабины F-15? Если да, давайте трек ) Если нет, запишу из Су-25Т.
  15. Конечно можно, ведь предложенный характер искажений соответствует классическому широкоугольному объективу, в котором нет оптических элементов, корректирующих дисторсию. Такой простой объектив можно встретить, например, на камерах GoPro. И такой характер искажений был при широких FOV в Ил-2. That was a good one :thumbup: It looks to me, the YF-22 choice was less risky, more prudent; this aircraft seems to have better classic fighter capabilities, which is very important if the stealth and other high tech factors are diminished somehow (facing equal stealth capabilities on the other side).
  17. Наверное, тут можно применять геометрическую коррекцию, по аналогии с приемами обработки фотоизображений. Допустим, сейчас в рендере происходит проекция на плоскость, а можно попробовать - на выпуклую поверхность. Чем шире FOV, тем выпуклее. Потеря углов обзора незначительная. Приборы видны лучше. При вращении головы будет эффект линзы, но это еще нужно попробовать. Можно даже вывести степень выпуклости в конфиг )

  20. FW-190 A5 or A8 is not an adequate opponent for the D-Mustang. Would be cool to cross swords with Thunderbolt, resembling fights that took place in 1943-44.
  21. It looks good, but Ace Combat: Assault Horison actually has no horison. There's always some mist shamely covering the size of this sandbox.

  24. What are the key benefits of this device, compared to existing HMDs like Sony HMZ-T2? Apart from motion tracking feature. Maybe those who tried it would share their opinions? --- Ahh, it's the FOV. OK, this could change a lot.
