  1. Just watched that this weekend. It was really good (and yes I am a bit of a fan of the Walleye, it is such an oddball weapon compared to the LGB’s and JDAM’s that it is a lot of fun to use).
  2. I find the main advantage so far (whether this is placebo or not because who knows which modules are affected by jamming) has been stopping Tomcats launching Phoenixes with impunity due to their range. I keep my jammer on until around 20nm when I can send an AMRAAM their way and have them have something to think about while beaming the inevitable Phoenix headed my way. Once within 20nm the jammer stays off. At any rate within that range their radar is going to burn through as well so you are just shooting your self in the foot by having it on. For ease of use I have the jammer switch mapped to a spare button on my HOTAS. (and yes HoJ shots should follow a less efficient path I think)
  3. I guess in some ways it does open Pandora's box a little bit. If they add the GBU-54 to the Hornet (on the a 2005 Hornet operating now would carry it) then they would face the same argument for the JASSM on the Viper (which is a bigger issue given the Viper lacks any cruise missiles) and so it goes on. Maybe we will get it with a Super Hornet future module, or they do a weapons pack for the Hornet (ASRAAM please ).
  4. Cold start usually. I think it is because I mostly like to fly a complete sortie, or if I am just practicing a skill then it will be air starts on a training scenario. If I played more multiplayer then I might autostart more.
  5. I use Process Lasso to make sure DCS only has affinity for the physical and not logical cores. It's probably just a placebo but it seems to help.
  6. I just hope they don't model an early HTS version that was designed to just work with HARMs and was not very precise but provide the HTS pod that would have been used with a Block 50 Viper of that era that can provide co-ordinates to support precision guided munitions.
  7. Looking great, very excited to see your guys progress with this. Hopefully some RAAF liveries will eventuate. One question - will the low RCS be modelled?
  8. I think design compromise is more apt :smartass: (Kind of like those stubby barely lift producing wings and fragile undercarriage on the Viper)
  9. Likely it hadn't built up a track file of the other target when you went TMS right to convert the tracked files to system files so you can only bug one of the targets. The Hornet's radar appears apparently faster at building track files than the Viper I think because while in RWS if LTWS is active it is building track files so when you go into TWS it is already tracked.
  10. Let's get a finished Block 50 Viper before we worry about them trying to develop other variants. I would think though that in terms of 'bang for buck' a completely different airframe is going to get them further than developing another Viper variant. The Israeli variants are very different but I don't know how successful they would be in getting sufficient information on the avionics within those birds. I know it is a bit harder as the Lot 20 Hornet does a better job of filling in for the duration of legacy Hornet history due to it being able to carry many of the older weapons like Sparrow's and Walleye's, but I would rather ED move on to creating something different (once they finish the Hornet and Viper, please!) rather than another Viper variant. We don't have a Tornado, Phantom, Gripen, J-10, full fidelity Russian aircraft (one can dream), Aardvark, Starfighter... So many options! Heck I'd rather they invested the time in a full-fidelity F-15C or a Rhino.
  11. Having the exact same problem here, was working fine up until the latest patch, now get this intermittent error as described. Something is going on here!
  12. Mostly play single player. Can refuel the Viper, Hornet, Mirage and Tomcat (basically all the ones I have tried it in). If you can fly in formation you can refuel.
  13. I'd second that nomination, is an excellent campaign and mission. It doesn't require too much nitty gritty of systems operation but is challenging enough (the first mission can be a doozy if you ) Another good one would be Operation Exigent Riviera part 1; https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305707/ Has some nice carrier ops and Persian Gulf action, however the missions are quite challenging and require you to really know how to operate the Hornet systems.
  14. It should alter the height that the munitions release, and the higher the release the more area covered (but the less density so less chance of hitting anything within the area of effect).
  15. I think they have operated both the C model and the A model (including the A++). At any rate cool livery and a squadron with a really great history of Hornet operations.
  16. The air boss would like a word.
  17. You can hit STEP to select the target but I don’t think there is an option to display it all the time without selecting it.
  18. Have the same problem. On the plus side it fires a lot of missiles to achieve the shoot down now... but they still don’t get through. It feels like something is broken with JSOWs that they are easily detected (despite being meant to have a low RCS) and so get slaughtered with their slow speed at high altitude.
  19. The AI JF-17 seems to have a similar tendency to go into infinite loops. China appears to have perfected a perpetual motion machine.
  20. Or people complaining about people complaining about DCS progress :smartass: It’s just like inception.
  21. It has a passive electronically scanned array radar so can direct multiple beams to engage multiple targets with SARH missiles. First fighter to incorporate an electronically scanned array radar.
  22. I don’t get the obsession with HUD symbology, particularly after playing with the (albeit work in progress) implementation before it was removed. The HUD designation and slaving was super easy and very useful. I find it (acknowledging both are unfinished) more useful than trying to slew the marker around the HUD in the viper.
  23. Could some of this be more of the world being rendered given the bubble canopy than the Hornet or Tomcat where there is a lot of relatively static cockpit in the way.
  24. The gunsight is great. No longer do I feel like I need to fill the area in front of my target with lead and pray. Now I put my dots of death over the target, squeeze and watch the fireworks.
  25. Anyone else having issues using the mission since the latest patch?
