Does Central Position Trimmer Mode = HelicopterTrimmerMethod?
Distiler replied to Wazoo's topic in Bugs and Problems
-Yes you're correct. -True is new behaviour. *Have you edited some .lua file with regular notepad? (must use notepad++ or face probably corruption) *Have you installed DCS in /program files? (in Vista and W7 this folder security features makes really weird things -> advised to install outside, even outside whole C: ) *Do you have any other joystick or racing wheel plugged in? -
Does Central Position Trimmer Mode = HelicopterTrimmerMethod?
Distiler replied to Wazoo's topic in Bugs and Problems
The trim method is stored in \Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua in the line ["altTrimmingMethod"] = true (or false) check if it's changing when you change it in options/gameplay UI. If it's not changing: Have you edited some .lua file with regular notepad? (must use notepad++ or face probably corruption) Have you installed DCS in /program files? (in Vista and W7 this folder security features makes really weird things -> advised to install outside, even outside whole C: ) Also, if you have some other joystick or wheel plugged it may interference. -
nah, it's just some mission here and there, but generally all mission use setglobal=true so they will take your game global settings. At first look, all F-15 campaign missions seem to be ok (setglobal=true) but some F-15 single missions are not (setglobal=false). Easy way to see it, open .miz file with winzip, view "options" file and check setglobal=true/false line.
-
Be sure you have the "Use these options for all missions", open that mission in the editor and just re-save it, this way a switch will change and it will use global game options (missions have an internal switch setglobal=true/false and it's messy, true means it takes global game options false means its options were "locked" when created because it wasn't using global options): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52005 ED releases all it's missions with setglobal=true, but in FC2 some have slipped and are setglobal=false

That track has something really weird going on just after you start rolling. It's easy to spot, it's like a "reset", a "glitch" (don't know how to explain it better) If I watch your track, FAC trigger is not activated, but if I take control at the start, just before that weird thing, FAC trigger activates. If I take control after that weirdness happens, the trigger doesen't work. I don't have any explanation for that weirdness. Wich mods are you using btw?

Well, yes, you can install latest catalyst ati drivers from amd/ati website and monitor gpu temp (you have gpu-z installed). -

Perhaps, with the upcoming compatibility patch for DCS:Ka-50 with FC2, the problem might be magically solved. Oh informatics! -

Have you tried disable x-fi or fast-writes? In the end, if you don't want Vista, try W7 reinstall. -

Eveything looks very good! Try the other things and see. In the end, if nothing works you can do a reinstall of the original OS (Vista), would be probably the best bet (Service pack 2 install directx11, it's almost like W7) -

Can you show us a picture of device manager pls? (with everything plugged) Also, about the x-fi, can you "disable it" through device manager and re-test? Finally, in the BIOS, can you disable fast writes for the graphics card? Still throwing ideas... -

Most probably it's something related to openGL of that toshiba driver, and it can't be updated with amd/ati website drivers, only with tohsiba website ones. But I just thought about another thing. Given that FC2 works perfectly and the single player UI also uses openGL (tho launcher.exe is not the same), what is another difference? sound. DCS, until may patch won't have the new sound engine as FC2 uses. I've seen in dxdiag that you're using an external soundblaster x-fi right? have you tried to disable it? (disconnect, change configuration, disable or totally uninstall). I'm really scrathing my head, yes yes, physically now scratching my head in a flat in Barcelona, Spain XD PD: you can try madness, like replacing launcher.exe from FC2 to DCS:Ka-50 XD (won't work, just for the sake of LOLing) -
ahh yes sorry, in that case I can't see any conflict with the EULA except in the case that you're, someway, able to start two OS at the same time (virtualization),but I don't think it's your case.
-
Technically you can, but if you use both at the same time it is an EULA break. In this case you'll need a serial for each computer (for example you want a pc as a server and another as a client)

That's what I fear about gpu upgrade. I'm perfectly fine quality settings and 4xAA and 8xAF in a 19'' screen at 1440x900, don't need more (well, I could use 16xAF). Otherwise, perhaps my overlocked e5200 is not pushing the 9600gt to it's max and buying a e8400 will increase both cpu and gpu. Got to think XD
-
Yeah well I want to still use my motherboard and ram so this is why I want an upgrade. Q9650 is very expensive so unless it goes down it's out of the question, while e8400 has almost the same perfomance per core and it's somewhat cheap. The thing is if upgrading from my overclocked E5200 to a stock E8400, the main difference (mainly caché, but also bus, etc. ) will make a noticeable difference or not. Obviously I can overlock the e8400 to 3.5Ghz with stock cooling. What about going from a 9600gt to a 260GTX or similar? perhaps this is a better path?

Neutral airfields repair aircrafts (perhaps it is intended? but if so, why don't refuel or rearm?).
-
So I've basically a balanced system but a bit old, tho it runs BS and FC2 perfectly at 40fps+ with high textures, medium scenes game settings, 4AA, 8AF, quality filtering nvidia settings, etc etc. I just feel that, in some situations fps go lower than 25: taxiing with other aircrafts/helos in front, area with too much objects, etc. so I'm thinking in an upgrade only if I get those fps higher than 25. I'm using 1440x900 resolution, W7 64 bit and have 4GB of DDR2 800Mhz. cpu is a intel E5200, 2core 2.5Ghz at 3Ghz. Frequency is ok, but lacks cache (L2 just 2MB) and bus (800 to 960Mhz). gpu is a nv 9600gt 512DD3 at stock speeds. So, do you have experience in upgrading similar cpu or gpu? wich would be the best upgrade if I only pick one? My firsts thoughts are cpu to a E8400 or Q9650 mainly due caché per core. For gpu I was thinking in a 260GTX. What would make the most difference if I keep graphics settings the same (I know with a 260GTX I can crank up AA, AF, etc. but let's keep the discussion with same settings for the sake of higher fps).

How well will Black Shark run on this?
Distiler replied to S.h.r.i.k.e.'s topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not only that, as far as I know, in a 32 bit system you can only use up to 2 GB of memory per executable (included video ram, use gpu-z to check usage). In 64 bit Vista or W7,even FC2 being a 32 bit executable, it can use up to 4GB due being compiled with a certain flag that allows WOW64 (the translator 32-64bit) to use that ammount of ram per 32bit executable. Many missions with lots of units in a 32 bit system will make clients crash. -
Is there any way to send a private message to new pilots explaining the status of the mission? (for example, wich stage is active would be enough). Or perhaps a global message about stage each 5-10 minutes (maybe it is and haven't seen it yet). EDIT: lol I've just seen "neither side has control of Maykop" so that puts us in stage 1 right?

I've spreaded the word! It's a real bargain

And do you know how many cores at high load will those games use? mostly 2, or more but at an average or low load, like FC2/DCS does. That doesen't mean FC2/DCS can't be optimized for more cores, yes, it can and it probably will be in the future.
-
LOL. Only like 20-30 games are really multithreaded, and many of them with just 2 threads. FC2 sound engine is multithread (2 threads) and directx11 helps multithreading so in a limited way like FC2, yes it will be.
