  1. Logitech GS510 may fit your needs: http://www.logitech.com/gaming/mice-keyboard-combos/devices/7246 I just picked one up at Best Buy last week for $89. My old, first generation Eclipse finally started dying on me. This has proved to be a really good replacement. haven't played around with the macro's, but read the instructions on it. Seems pretty straight forward :)
  2. How about reading the feedback of a guy who is about to be a certified helicopter instructor: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=122626
  3. Wings Of Prey looked and ran great. It wasn't a simulator, but it definitely had alot of environmental and graphical immersion factors going for it. The matchmaking gameplay hurt it tremendously though as did the lack of a mission editor. MM is good for an MMO where you're building a character or pilot career. I think World Of Warplanes will stick primarily to the gameplay model set forth by World Of Tanks to where it can be played primarily in 3rd person. Which is fine for the structure model that follows World Of Tanks. For World Of Planes though, having an MMO that is TrackIR ready and can support ultra-side screen resolutions while having a stunning environment and some sim-lite flight models in a team vs team dogfight arena....that's gonna be fun too :D Dang, gonna have TOO much to choose from lol! DCS series (hopefully w/ compatibility patch), World Of tanks, World Of Warplanes, World Of Warships, World Of Planes, BMS (If I can get an exe since I parted way with my discs years ago), IL-2 COD as it gets patched up..... Alot of choices LOL!
  4. That's from the makers of World Of Tanks. World Of Planes is from the makers of Wings Of Prey. Looking forward to seeing how both turn out though. Could be fun on both fronts :)
  5. Well then, I guess the threads for BF3 and J.A.S.F both need to be closed then right? :D
  6. I think this is a great MOD One thing people need to remember is this: we can only move our heads ingame. We cannot move the eyes of our character. That simple fact means that every test (like the pics from giaco1 above) should be performed as a static eye test, not dynamic.
  7. Mine lasted for almost three years. I have a coat hook screwed into the far side of my desk (aka, farthest point from any traffic) and I awlays hang my headphones up so both the mic and the trackclip stay safe. Handed my headphones to my wife one night so she could correspond to someone on TS3 and she momentarily forgot about the trackclip and she felt it collapse in her hand as she realized she had grabbed the headphones right around it. Got a replacement and all is good again. Hang the headphones on a hook rather than laying them down or stretching them over something. In the past 10 years, I'm on my second set of headphones and my second trackclip. The longevity is thanks to a bent piece of metal that cost me less than a dollar ;)
  8. Rather than using bends, have you though of using 45 degree elbows? It won't look as fluid, but you would avoid the kinking in the tubing.
  9. Scroll up to post #6 ;) Not my thread, just a thread I linked
  10. There is an old thread buried in ehre somewhere in which someone had Blackshark working in 3D. They actually posted screenshots. I had a cheap set of red/blue glasses that came w/ a magazine promo and the screenshots looked great. Do a search and you're bound to find it. May be something in there :) Edit: did a quick search and found this thread - may be of interest to you: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1030334#post1030334
  11. I seriously doubt ToH will have really advanced flight models. Think somewhere between ArmA2's flight model and DCS being closer to the middle rather than closer to DCS. For all intensive purposes, think of it as a "Sim-Lite" If you're wanting total realism, then wait for the next DCS. If you can be happy with a sim-lite to have fun with, then it should be a good purchase. It'll also be interesting to see what the modders do altho one must remember that they cannot mod the engine itself.
  12. The Franken-Potato Mod:
  13. I usually don't agree with Mower, but this time I think I know where he is coming from. I REALLY wanted to buy an X-65F. My X-52 lasted for years. The durability and the overall long term ergonomics of Saitek's products were top notch to me. The X-65's centering issue on some of the sticks and the lack of further driver development for Win 7 64 was my deciding factor to not get one. That's the ONLY reason I did not buy it. The X-65 is not dedicated to just one aircraft in its design and appearance. That gives it the automatic feel of being versatile across different simulators. The Warthog wouldn't be any less versatile, but the immediate dedication to the A-10 automatically makes one wonder how well it would work with another sim. That question doesn't arise with the X-65. In the end though, I am extremely happy with my purcahse of CH's stick and throttle. Still would love to have a WH and an X-65 to use at my liesure, but that kinda cash is beyond me lol.
  14. Aircraft from that era relied heavily on their electronics suite for combat employment. Older aircraft relised on manual skills. I seriously doubt that hardware for both client and server could handle what would basically be a LOMAC MMO. Anything less than LOMAC would be considered too arcade (aka HAWX). A LOMAC-style MMO would seriously rock, but I doubt we'll see it anytime soon.

    [WTB] EVGA GTX470

One of my employees is looking for one. I posted this for him. I'll ask him what he's willing to pay and PM ya tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday).
  16. A sim-lite game where we don't have to worry about dedicated servers and can have people actually online sounds like a fun diversion from high end sims like DCS. Wings Of Prey actually ran very fluid and looked great. It was lacking so many needed features that it just couldn't work as a stand alone game. Incorporating it into an MMO though might be really good fun tho. Just depends on how they present it. If it's Free To Play like the World Of tanks model, then it will probably see some initial success (no prediction on any long-term). If it's subscription to play, then they better have it chock full of amazing content or it will probably fail. Watching this one as well as World Of Warplanes and Warships :D
  17. This one to be exact :) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130549

Ahhh... Major Tom! :D Happy B'Day hoss :)
  19. OUCH!!!
  20. Why mess up a proven design? ;) I do wish it had a split throttle, but for the price, something had to give.
  21. The WH was out of my price range, but it bothered me seeing the reports of people paying $500 for a HOTAS and it dying on some of them. That's a good chunk of cash. Saitek's customer support is not as robust as it once was. That worried me. If the WH is out of your price range, I would suggest going with CH instead of the X-65. CH's are known for their longevity and they're more affordable than the X-65, and their customer support is still active and involved. They've also been in business since 1977 working on motion controls for commercial, industrial, and military.

    Grimes!

Yay! Grimes has gotten past the halfway point to 50 :D HBD Dude :)
  23. IL-2 Sturmovik for me. All the nights spent flying coops or hopping around in HyperLobby.....I wore out a couple of good sticks in that one lol! F4 was fun until the community starting fragmenting between F4, AF, OF, etc Then it become a pain lol!
  24. Or, people who don't want a pit for the long term could just buy the cardboard and use it as is.
  25. I would also suggest strategically installing pieces of 1/8" thick Lexan or aluminum strips on the back of the your panels. This will increase the structural intregrity over the long term. Also, unless you completely seal every micron of every surface on the cardboard, it will eventually give into changing humidity conditions. Hence the suggestion for the lexan or aluminum to give it some reinforcement.
