  1. The "S" designation stands for serial. The 27 model that is in the simulator.
  2. Man... tough one indeed... the amount of gear wheel pictures I looked at... :shocking:
  3. Both GG and Developers have stated that it is C5. Only C5 got a range boost over AIM-120B due to bigger engine which was guesstimated to 20%/30% by the developers. C5 has the bigger engine and deliveries of it began in 2000. So... Frostie's statement has validity. One of the links I was able to find quickly: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=816719&postcount=39
  4. Correct! MiG-17 SN, was an attempt to create a CAS version of the MiG, it actually has moving cannons in the nose, so that it could engage targets while flying level. X-Man your turn :)
  5. First time in this thread, so not sure how difficult the pictures can be... So will start with this for now:
  6. HAL Dhruv Helicopter Cockpit.
  7. Moderating and enforcing these rules creates a great overhead for server admins. This is why we have events and squad matches, where everything is watched and acted on, rules are understood by all and if not... well you get the picture. So, what ever happens on pub servers stays there... you being able to shoot down X amount of aircraft is no achievement, sorry. Besides personal training/practice of tactics/maneuvers/strategies. What I thought would happen in FC2 though, is that with the introduction of triggers - missions would be able to enforce certain rules autonomously... but even taxi way take off is still virtually unenforceable... :(
  8. It's fine the way it is, because we all know nothing will be done about it. Patches/updates for this game are few and far between. Multiplayer community support is lacking and left completely for server admins/players. This isn't IL-2 or other games where if something is discovered and confirmed by numerous bug reports and testers is fixed overnight (or at least in a month period). This is something we have to accept as multiplayer users of Eagle products, and that is why "it is fine the way it is" at least until the next product comes out, whenever that might be. NOTE: I am not speaking about any F-15/27/29/25/10 features, just in general.
  9. What type of mounting holes/options are available on the bottom of the throttle and the stick?
  10. I voted: It is fine the way it is. And here is why: Option 1 was All aircraft readily available on both sides. This is pretty much the way it is now and as such I chose Option 6 because the "grow a pair and adapt" sounds bad ass :P Option 2: Only 1 side with F-15s. Well, what will happen is that the blue side will be packed while the red side will be empty. Since it is not a constant number of people on the server this will not work. Unless it is an official event. Sooner or later it will be come Fs vs Fs anyway. Option 3... Was an easy one to cross off right away. No. Option 4 Limited Payloads. I believe the payloads should contain short range missiles and I fit them no matter which aircraft I fly, but at the same time if it is possible and the pilot is willing, let them. Option 5 The F-15 Shouldn't Be Online. Won't happen. Option 6. It is fine the way it is. I chose this option because I believe there isn't anything that can be done that will not cause more grief and whining from one side or the other. It is unfortunate that the F-15 did receive A LOT more attention than any other craft in this recent patch/release. There could have been done a lot of other smaller things to introduce new features among ALL aircraft and not just one. There are questionable decisions in terms of the missile characteristics and that has already spawned numerous pages of debates, I for one am still puzzled by the 3.5 magnifier given to so called "Advanced Warheads" while the 27ER with a much heavier warhead requires sometimes up to 3 SHOTS to kill an enemy craft :music_whistling: Perhaps this will be addressed in A-10, F-16/18 series. Network code is a mess, and a pile of good features that FC1 had were removed.
  11. An example of two missile launch on a target by a Russian pilot: Пуск Первой - Pusk Pervoi - Launched First Пуск Второй - Pusk Vtoroi - Launched Second Only the order of the missile is specified. Type of the missile is solely left for the pilot to decide. After the target has been destroyed the pilot reports the amount of missiles used: Отработал двумя - Otrabotal Dvumya - Finished work with two Bomb away call: Сброс - Sbros - Drop General weapons deployment (this can be anything from A2A engagement call to Guns on a ground target): Работаю по цели - Rabotayu po tseli - Working on target There are a few variations of the above examples, I provided the most common ones. The Russian brevity is very interesting in contrast to English. One of my favorite subjects.
  12. Nitrogen is used in all of the Russian aircraft to open/close the canopy besides the manual ones of course. Not compressed air.
  13. Kawasaki T-4 Trainer Jet.
  14. Yup, sure looks like it... the cut off top end made it very hard! Good one.
  15. Russian air force is very new to Naval Based operations. Initially VTOL was chosen to "pioneer" modern carrier ops, later Kuznetsov and SU-33s were introduced. However, shortly after the introduction of the first true Aircraft Carrier the USSR dissolved and as such put everything on halt. So, naval craft are very few since there is only 1 carrier in the navy. For land based ac there are drag chutes, that if I am not mistaken have their own set of back ups for proper deployment in emergencies.
  16. Not sure what you mean by combat. But stars were and are still put on planes that successfully intercept high speed maneuvering air targets or successfully deploy missiles.
  17. Believe it or not, light blue color of the Sukhoi cockpits is due to psychological study that blue promotes peace/relaxation and makes the cockpit feel more spacious than it really is. There is an institute in Russia that is responsible for ergonomics/layout of cockpits and other medical/human related things inside of airplanes. Saw a small skit on it in one of the shows a while back, no sources beyond that. MiG's try to be different from Sukhoi ;) Little competition they got going.
  18. It caused a scare in the west. Which is undeniable no matter how simple/inferior the plane really was. Arguably was the reason your beloved F-15 was conceived. It set some records that are still untouched. It laid the foundation for various radar/IRST/datalink systems that were not previously employed in the Soviet air force. Later to be employed in various modifications of the 25 and the 31. There were programs in the Soviet Union that were to use the MiG-25 design as a possible low orbit weapons deployment system/anti-satellite. So, what do you have against the MiG? That it wasn't a Mach 3 jet? Well, officially it wasn't and you know that. Yet it did perform at over Mach 3 above Israel in the Egyptian-Israeli conflict granted it did lose its engines... did it get shot down? Nope. MiG-25 would have not made it into service if it did not meet the requirements set fourth. It met them quite well.
  19. MiG-25 performed its role perfectly and was a great and cheap solution for a fast recon/intercept craft. It did not come even close to the astronomical figures of the SR-71 project. Russia is not a small country and with it's extensive borders it needs such an interceptor. Which is exactly why we see MiG-31BM still as a vital piece in Russian PVO. SR-71 never achieved and never will what the MiG did however it makes a grest museum piece. You have a much better ground to bash the 27/29...:music_whistling: Oh and I would love to see some proof of any failed attempts of a missile fitted 25/31 to intercept a bogey. Because as far as I know all flights into USSR airspace seized after it entered service.
  20. As far as gear, pictures in attachment, once again 27.
  21. I will comment on SU-27 systems, since I did not study others. The 27 does have on board batteries and it is capable of spooling up without an external power source. The maximum number of spool ups available on batteries is three, after wards batteries have to be serviced/recharged. It uses an auxiliary turbocharger to begin spooling the engines. Referred to as "TurboStarter" in Russian terminology. It operates for ~50 seconds after which the engine that is spooling should be roughly at 54% rpm. It is possible to spool both engines simultaneously. EDIT: As far as electricity, the 27 uses both AC and DC. AC nominal readings: 115-120v, DC nominal readings: 27-29v.
  22. You gotta love the media coverage of this whole thing in the US. Trying so hard to cover up the extensive use of chemicals, and the fact that nobody really knows the consequences of this in the long run and the absolute joke of a congressional hearing and actions of the administration. Fun stuff. If the gulf stream seizes to circulate water as it used to... going to be an interesting climate change for sure.
  23. iDisplay and Air Display are already able to use the iPad as a second monitor. Should be pretty easy to config touchbuddy for it. The problem is that it utilizes wifi and certain level of compression so I am not sure how well it will perform.
  24. *sigh* http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=872055&postcount=11 S is in FC2... not P... S. Why S? P does not HAVE ground modes at ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
